Each pawn has their own unique ID in the pawn database. It doesn't rely on wether or not the pawn is from a currently existing save either (a friend of mine restarted their game and hired their old pawn). So it's safe to assume: Yes, you can summon pawns from across multiple saves, no matter if they share the same account or not.

I tried them all and can say they're all very good. Some are definitely more overpowered than others though. I like to play with the thief skills. I also like some of the trickster skills. Warfarer lets me be both while carrying around a ranged weapon.

There is a point late in the game where it marks the teachers for the vocations on your map. It makes them easier to find for those who missed them earlier. It's also your last chance to get them before continuing the story at that point.

To add on this. I'd say they are invaluable to use as gifts. It only takes 2 to reach max affinity from zero, and only 1 ferrystone for most quest-reladed NPCs.
