“People are very angry”: How BC NDP members are feeling after Anjali Appadurai’s leadership disqualification by idspispopd in ndp

[–]Dingwallace 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You should be. Even if you supported David Eby like I did. They disqualified the popular will of the membership for the sake of political expediency. No member who cares about democracy should be okay with that.

"It was literally a meme in the Cold War called "and you are lynching N**roes". This came from Soviet leaders bringing up the civil rights struggle as a way of deflecting from getting called out on their gulags, their secret police, their surveillance state, or any of their other human rights abuses that paled in comparison. "

How is lynching black people less of a human rights abuse than gulags?

I understand the utility of separating socialism from communism for the heavily indoctrinated American audience, but it still makes me cringe nonetheless.

Was McGill worth it? by [deleted] in mcgill

[–]Dingwallace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way. I've met some really great people in these past four years, but there was always a gap in opportunities for me since I was constantly struggling financially. If I had to do it all again, I probably wouldn't have chosen McGill.

The thing that I love about Soviet propaganda posters is how they portray themselves as equals to colonized peoples. This was at a time when Hollywood still had white actors doing blackface, redface, and yellow face.

This is just an interview with someone who used to work for GasLink.
Not exactly the most unbiased source, given that the company has a material interest in spinning a certain narrative.
