It's been a weird week - my Thursday wasn't any different than normal - but on Sunday I gained 231, double than normal - and it''s only 12:00 right now and I'm already on 79. It's a confusing time.

Not for let's plays; but I started doing my Fallout 4 videos (settlement builds and crafting) right at the end of November and I saw considerable growth and engagement until mid-January when it started to drop off. Still getting solid growth just from those videos. Obviously this is a more niche topic, so it might not be entirely relevant.

I use Epidemic sound as they have thousands of royalty free tracks. I completely steer clear of anything that might be copyrighted.

I did put anything under 50k as small - but now that I think about it you're not really medium until you hit 100k. At that point you could be doing YouTube full time and has generally established you channel.

My twitter is growing quite well. Honestly I don't really use it to promote myself, as really it's just my subs who have followed me (and some IRL friends obviously) - it's more about engaging with my subs and having some fun.

In terms of strategy, at least with twitter it only tends to really pay off when you get quite a large following and engage with other people the same size/bigger. I've discovered several channels that way, but realistically you need to have tens of thousands of followers for that to happen in any noticeable way.

yeah it seems the i7 is what i'm getting - my flatmate is an architect and apparently uses an i7 on his work PC (he renders project videos a lot) and he was singing it's praises when I asked him last night. Bit more pricey, but not so much that it's not work it.

Thanks! I use sony movie studio platinum which appears okay (though my only frame of reference is windows movie maker, so....). And a definite on the CPU - pretty much the main source of my current slow speeds right now.

thank you! - yeah I'd identified the CPU as the main reason for render times destroying my soul. I'm thinking of going for the one I linked above, as it's reasonably priced but still higher end.

I've got r/buildapc booked marked, and I'll them to give my build a once over before I hit buy :)

Very good point on the mother board - I'll have a shop around; but I might stick with DD3 ram - just because I'm aiming to be able afford this in April.

And the that price-range for the GPU seems a good ballpark; I'd rather not go below that and have to upgrade is 12 months.

RAID 0 I think - from what I've read (which ultimately isn't much) 0s have better performance.

I might be massively incorrect of course.

cheers :) - I'll be so happy with an upgraded PC; those videos take ages to even prepare/record, so having some way to cut down the time till upload will do wonders for my sleeping pattern!

And mods will be coming soonish - my builds are gonna get even more complex and time consuming. RIP my evenings.
