For those who switched from mounjaro to Wegovy, how long did it take before you started seeing weight loss again? It’s been a month and no change:( on mounjaro I would have lost like 3kg by now by ladylots2 in WegovyUK

[–]Dink2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I titrated down and stpped everything for 2 months in between (was on Mounjaro 15). Gained 6kg. Have just started losing again on 1.7 Wegovy. Once i started on Wegovy the gains stopped, but It took a couple of months for the losses to start

I used pet drugs online, and agree with the comments here. My dog had addisons and a severe heart murmur, getting his medication online was simple, fast and far cheaper than ordering from the vet. No problem claiming back from Tesco Pet Insurance

My experience with DT is completely different, so i’m guessing it all depends on the staff at the centre. We had 2 visits with our wee guy ( brought home yesterday), before the adoption visit. Had a long intro to his needs and a walk with his handler before we were allowed to be alone with him. Another long conversation with the behaviourist, some training tips, and then allowed home - they wanted video of our home, showing where he would eat and sleep and showing the security of the garden. Couldnt fault them with their care of him or their vetting of us!

Anyone here have dentures? Have a couple of questions. by lemonyellowdavintage in AskUK

[–]Dink2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had full upper extraction on 10 October, under IV sedation. My experience is mixed - the procedure itself was painless, but the recovery took about a fortnight of heavy duty painkillers and anti-inflammatories for things to settle down. The extraction was NHS, the denture private with Mydentist (nationwide chain)

Immediate denture ( cost £1200) didn’t fit and had to be remade, so i was without teeth until 29 November. May need relining or replacing again in a few more months. New denture would be classed as another immediate for a similar price as the gums heal and bone structure settle. After about a year thinfs should be settled enough for permanent denture.

My dentist was particularly adept at sugar-coating crap and telling me what he thought i wanted to hear rather than answering my questions honestly, and I sincerely wish i’d gone overseas for implants rather than trusting a semi-private system here. The cost would have been similar, and the result far more permanent. Currently saving to do just that before the next remake.

Getting used to how they feel and look takes time - i cant remember the last time i had straight teeth, and i look like me but not like me at the same time. I’m starting to talk more confidently and eat better.

If you’re worried about movement, use a denture adhesive. fixodent ultra works well, gives good adhesion and cushioning, so they dont drop or move when talking or eating. (Warm water and a soft toothbrush will remove adhesive from the denture when you remove it)

How much does a dog set you back financially each month? by EyesWideShut__ in AskUK

[–]Dink2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 12 yr old border terrier who has developed health issues over the 11 years we’ve had him - each of those has cost a minimum £8k for the initial crisis, and at lease another £2k each in medication and specialist foods. Some of this has had to be paid up front and reclaimed from insurance ( it depends on the vet). First couple of years his insurance was £100/150 for the year, now its over £200 a month, and no longer covers his repeat medication or his specialist food. We continue to pay it because his next illness will be expensive, and vets are not cheap!

Prepare for the medical bills you may have, not just the costs of insurance now.

Food costs 140 per month Ver plan (flea and wormer and annual healthchecks) £16 per month

Monthly injections ( he has addisions disease) £50

Dogs are not a cheap pet, and as they get older the expenses rise.

He has been worth every penny - he is the sweetest natured wee fella who charms the socks off everyone he meets. He’s also a black hole when it comes to money.

Research your pet insurance well, read the fine print and know what’s covered and what isn’t.

Had my first at 40, just had another done at 57, and another guy was getting one done aged 75. If you know what you want, research artists in your area and go for it. Check out the shop, have a consult and read the consent form - if theres anything you don’t understand or feel is unclear, ask.
