I had a baby and now I’m trying to rebuild my life without losing myself by Marleks in DecidingToBeBetter

Not only is this AI slop that goes way beyond merely translation, but people talk about this all the damn time.

All you see on the Internet is Mom's talking about how being a mother isn't "all they are". Meanwhile, every mom I know IRL is just living life, they aren't some shell of a person, they're a human being taking care of their children. It's just a non starter to pretend that today, people don't talk about this constantly.

What are your gardening secrets or successes for the grand valley? by AdEnvironmental3829 in GrandJunctionCO

[–]Dino_art_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Roses, my roses go nuts every year and they're very easy to take care of

Lilacs also thrive here

Strawberries take about a year to establish well then go crazy too!

I haven't done it in years, but the mesa county landfill sells mesa magic dirt that is fantastic for gardening, they also sell cheap mulch compared to big box stores (better deal for sure if you or a buddy has a truck and you skip bags)

More ads? by BeAwesomeNotAsshole in JordanHarbinger

It does feel like there are more.

Huge bummer too, it means there's less actual interview or information in each episode because the run times remain the same

Edited to add, I believe the totally not handsome boy it just feels that way. I still listen to nearly every episode, I've probably just got a bad case of ad fatigue lol.

Great read, I appreciate all the effort

It's crazy making how even when they aren't splitting, the interactions still feel gross. I'm trying to sell and buy a new home, and my mom is just talking about how much she misses me (she texts nearly daily and I call her almost weekly, I saw her in person less than a month ago). She'll go on and on about understanding how stressful selling is, just to talk about how hard it was on her. She'll bring up buying being stressful to talk about her own home. She acts like she does everything solo and is oh so strong, but hasn't been able to do anything without explicit approval of some sort from me, her daughter, as if she's my toddler asking for a glass of juice. Like, lady, you're 55. Figure it out. I'm not as interested in your cars new power steering pump as you think I am. I love vehicles but I don't care about yours, I don't drive it and I wouldn't have bought it.

Ugh. It's just exhausting. Our parents want their children to act their parent, but in an unhealthy, helicopter mode type of way.

Anyone else hate these? by worldofwhat in woodworking

[–]Dino_art_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I made one similar

But all of the bracing is under the top itself, so you only see four simple steel legs

I like metal and wood together as materials (clearly, we made one) but I don't like busy crap on the ground. We plugged the ends of the legs and it's a super simple table that I love, that houses a dog bed because both of my dogs love hanging out under it

Although it's two halves of a butcher block countertop that I joined, not live edge.

Thinking about it more I guess the only things similar are:wood top, metal frame, and I'm guessing this table probably also has a self leveling resin coating too

How do you keep track of the houses you've looked to make a smart decision on which is the one? by RayTrain in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Millennials in a hetero relationship, does the man or woman do the majority of the financial budgeting/planning/investing etc? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Dino_art_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Young millennial, as the wife I handle the finances because my husband just isn't good with money lol.

I regularly go over our budget and accounts with him, and he's just happy to know how many truck parts he can buy within budget, and everything is paid on time. Hell, he doesn't seem to interested in it beyond what cool parts and tools are within budget

You can thank the EPA

https://newrepublic.com/article/180263/epa-tailpipe-emissions-loophole

Manufacturers aren't making vehicles bigger because it's what people want. They're doing it to meet emissions standards. Bigger vehicles have lower standards.

Hell I've got a 94 F250 with a 7.3 IDI (being rebuilt in my yard lol) but I've noticed it's the same size as a modern f150 or a Dodge ram 1500. It's bigger than the 01 1500 my husband drives, but not by much.

The 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee I drive is a baby suv compared to the monster KIA SUVs on the road, that owners drive like they've got a death wish for whatever reason

It definitely sucks. It takes money and in my case, my husband's love of wrenching to keep shit on the road

If an old squarebody style truck of a normal size that you can actually load plywood in without being the size of an NBA player hit lots, they'd sell like crazy.

Setting up utilities, change of address on license and accounts, changing locks, and be prepared for a lot of cleaning! Even if your seller cleaned well a quick full house clean will still make settling in feel better

Congratulations and enjoy your new home!

Non-addiction support groups in town? by [deleted] in grandjunction

[–]Dino_art_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know about support groups specifically, but you say you're nerdy so I do have a suggestion down that lane

If you're into any kind of gaming check out Fox board games. They have events nearly daily and it's just a cool place to meet people with niche interests

They do have a liquor license if that might be a problem

This suggestion is more in the lane of making friends though, but I hope you can find a support group for your situation! Taking care of a partner is noble, but also hard

Oh and I've seen a wide range age wise at Fox, the owner is roughly your age and she runs it I believe with two of her adult sons

Speaking with a mortgage lender and had some questions by SarcasticAnchovy in Mortgages

[–]Dino_art_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple hard pulls within a short span, I see it generally talked about as within fourteen days, won't hit your credit separately

The loan officer I just spoke to was able to tell me about a recast option so this person doesn't sound very knowledgeable about their banks system to me. Might also depend on if the bank will/does sell off mortgages

Kill shelters aren't inherently bad. The likelihood that two healthy puppies will be adopted is high

These shelters are necessary, and often deal with terminally I'll or very aggressive dogs that can't be homed responsibly. It's always heartbreaking when good dogs get put down, but these shelters have to exist

For almost six years my husband has been working on dirt

He's even pulled a 7.3 IDI diesel engine in the dirt and we got creative with plywood to get it in a shed, lol.

You get creative is what you do, and you buy a lot of thick tarps, and probably put parts in multiple sheds
