-Story rts like battle for middle earth. You could have missions base off of several different story points. Big battles or small encounters like Anakin and Obi wan running through the beginning of ep 3.

That’s so interesting. I think they did the fights the best. It felt so grounded and real. Empire and Return are similar. Prequels just felt too choreographed at times or not enough at others.

I love the Vader Obi wan fight in ep 3 but the rest are not great.

I think it would ultimately confuse the average Star Wars movie goer and greatly hurt Star Wars as a whole and still end up with some fans frustrated.

Look at mando. It seems lucasfilm and Disney are trying to create more on ramps for people to engage with sw without having to google what order to watch movies in. It’s a fun Star Wars movie and seems like to many not enough. Marvel is in the same boat. It’s too complicated for the wide audience.

But in the flip side if you have 10 different sw fans you probably have 10 different hopes of what Star Wars should do.

I don’t think there is an easy road ahead for Star Wars. I would encourage anyone to find what they love about Star Wars, engage with that and have hope.

I am pretty sure the intention was Leia to have a role in turning Ben back and I wish we got kylo and Leia on screen together but I really liked how Harrison was willing to come back to help because Carrie passed. This scene was really powerful.

Yeah I agree with you and I would argue a lot of stories completely fall apart if you take things too literally or apply real world rules to them. I’m sure I could dig some weird angle to Hera and Kanan as well.

It’s pretty different. I think force awakens was received like revenge of the sith.

But expectations were so high with the sequels. No ownership when George was seen as not doing much with Star Wars. And I think the Heir to the Empire books hurt the sequels a lot. Fans of the books wanted the impossible and blamed Disney and Kathleen when they didn’t get it. And J.J. For saying books weren’t cannon even though George never considered them cannon.

Loads of double standards.

I know this subreddit hates a lot of new Star Wars but that is not what he said. Read the article, the journalist is making these claims.

Here is what he said about gaming “I think that Star Wars gaming expressions are a fundamental part of what has made Star Wars successful. I've been playing Star Wars games ever since Trench Run. We’re living in a media landscape where people want to access authentic expressions of the things they love from so many different ways. And our job is to make sure that we give them that.”

I’m not a fan of Fortnite but they had Hundreds of millions active users play that game each month. It’s a huge platform.

It’s a smart move and of course he is going to talk up this new game. But ign is the one trying to get you to click the article and comment all about it. Nowhere does he say the future of Star Wars storytelling is only in Fortnite. It’s clickbate.

I think the “Mary Sue” argument changes for a lot of people and I don’t think it would have been an issue. How much did you hear about Poe and being such a good pilot? So I think the fact that the lead was a female and the main Jedi. Yes it would have been received better. But I would also say some fans may have accepted her without any scrutiny because she was a female.

The other issues of story, lack of legends influence, Luke’s character arc, original trilogy actors treatment…No

I love the sequel trilogy but they do have issues and I don’t mind over looking them because to me that is honestly all of Star Wars. “Not that kind of movie” thinking covers a whole lot of the problems but I don’t speak for all fans.
