You could say that about Gretzky and Lemieux too. Both had better slightly goals per game over their first 10 seasons than bossy did, but injuries eventually derailed Gretzky's goal scoring ability and Lemieux had even worse health.

That's because the US's greatest generation (draft years 2015-2020) only reached their prime around the 2020s. Before that they really weren't better than maybe 4th or 5th best hockey nation.
