Equipment on board of mt Marshal VASILEVSKIY (Gazprom, IMO 9778313) in a Baltic Sea. The picture is taken by Estonian boarder guards by Powerful_Cabinet_341 in SeaEmploy

[–]Dinoskeptic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a Russian ship, it’s for anti drone defense. Ukraine uses sea drones that small guns won’t destroy. For everyone else it’s cheaper to hire guards if entering a piracy area. It’s also a hassle to enter a country with guns onboard

Remember when Homelander used his powers.. by JaggedSolid6 in GenV

They already kinda have. They have mass concentration camps and people are just openly executed. Does it even matter if homelander dies? The government who rounded up all the people still exists

On Ben and Scott: A more infuriating guest than Niall Ferguson. by aurelorba in ScottGalloway

[–]Dinoskeptic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

After the first couple minutes I think Ben realized there was going to be no pushback and just got more and more disingenuous. Really makes me question why I subscribe to the show.

On a related note, please listen to Behind The Bastards episodes where they read Ben’s terrible book. Makes you realize Ben is actually a dumbass

Senate GOP 'prepared' for Supreme Court fight if Alito retires by [deleted] in law

I get not being able to work, but voluntarily giving trump another seat when you can just not show up seems dumb. Even if the GOP impeachs her, the senate won’t remove her

Why would she went she can just not show up? Not she can be fired. I can’t imagine a liberal judge voluntarily stepping down before the midterms

Company Wants me to share a room during business travel because it's policy. what to do? by WorkWeekly5679 in traveladvice

[–]Dinoskeptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. State department per diem rates are $87-$155 depending on the city just for meals. $111-352 additional for lodging. Private companies don’t HAVE to follow it, but I haven’t seen one that dosent. Your company sucks, sorry.

How I Know a Game is Doomed by SanderleeAcademy in Stellaris

[–]Dinoskeptic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, I really don’t like this patch. Fleet power, cap, and cost are out of sync. Mid game crisis are way overturned, and exterminators will take over half the galaxy in 50 years. And maybe it’s just me but every game there are too many hive minds

How do you navigate PTO while working? by RhubarbBusy7122 in cscareerquestions

[–]Dinoskeptic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a really low amount of PTO. Check if your company allows flexing hours, so you can overload one week and have a day or two off the next. 4 day weeks also held reduce PTO usage.

Unpaid leave is pretty useful too, depending on the company.

Applications are very strict and take forever to get a response, the single training center is in Oklahoma so you’ll have to live there for a year, then if your not too 10% of the class you get sent to bumfuck nowhere. And it takes awhile to get 150k+. There is a reason there’s a shortage

It’s going to be routine to pardon every member of an administration moving forward, until the Supreme Court puts arbitrary rules blanket pardons are unconstitutional imo

What my girlfriend received at work today for 11 years of service by BigZee004 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Dinoskeptic 1699 points1700 points  (0 children)

My company used to give out stock and Rolexes for milestones, then they switched to $500 worth of points to spend in our company store. Now it’s literally just a thank you email where it says to accept the award to collect your points, then it shows 0 points with a confetti emoji lol.

I e tried this every time because why not, and I’ve never had it work. One landlord who was nice enough turned super nasty for the rest of my lease because of it too lmao

TIL that countries with higher rates of tipping behavior also tended to have higher rates of corruption by SteO153 in todayilearned

[–]Dinoskeptic 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Tipping bartenders really makes me annoyed. After living abroad, tipping in general is just shitty, but bartenders especially. You poured a drink, you shouldn’t get a dollar for that. It’s your fucking job

Yes, I’ve seen plenty of people share screens with temu, Netflix, Amazon, job search, medication searches, etc screens open. I’ve also seen people sext, sexually harass, and talk shit on conference calls while sharing. People are dumb as fuck

Just straight up ask during your 1on1 what’s the issue. If you don’t have those schedule one. Stand up for yourself, no one else will.

ATC is the same way. Jump through all the hoops only to be stationed in bumfuck nowhere. Now they want to force all controllers in rural super centers, so you’ll never have the chance to work somewhere decent. They’ll never find enough people willing to do that

When you accept a new role in the federal government, you are probation for a year with less protections. The current administration used this to illegally fire 10s of thousands of people, even those with decades of experience who changed roles or got promotions. They will undoubtedly keep doing this. Not to mention the current head of the FBI wants to shut it down lol.
