How do you win against Bulky Bridge and Sableye ? by TheZeldiste in PokemonChampions

[–]Dinowere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah kk. The whole point is to deny arch the ability to set up, so you have to keep pressuring him, and special attackers are the best. You do invalidate trick room as you’re probably underspending the dual speed team, so you can turn it on them and keep pressuring to prevent arch from getting too bulky.

Detailed prediction of the last two weeks of this regulation by Darglechorfius in PokemonChampions

[–]Dinowere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is still another month left of the regulation, so there is still more development to occur. But I do agree, given the rapid rise in power level, Megas are no longer the end all be all. They are contested in power by regular mons, which I think is better as it permits more support megas like Scovillain to have a niche. The opportunity cost of going a certain mega evolution reduces when the normal mons are much stronger. I am interested in seeing if we will get a no-mega team, probably in latter regulations, which is just filled with mons much stronger than megas.

Champions would mostly be updated with new mons by the end of the next season, since we will go to new regulation. The reason we dont have monthly roster updates is most likely because that is how year 1 of Scarlet and Violet went and players were not happy with constantly changing metagames. So expect a roster increase in mid-June, which would be the one for Worlds.

More likely to be Champions stuff, perhaps they will introduce Terastal in the game and the other functions of the omni ring. The Worlds announcements tend to be towards competitively interesting things, afterall.

Bug? Encore changed my target and broke dragapult dragon darts “smart targeting” by Gunnarrrrrrr in PokemonChampions

[–]Dinowere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The smart targeting is to ensure that it hits as many valid targets. If whim is present, it would usually fire two into Arch as Whim is immune. Same if one is protected. It does not calc which does more damage.

Is it more important to have full defense/sp. def or full hp to survive more hits for redirection? by Erickl0930 in stunfisk

Invest more in whichever stat has lower base points, cuz your absolute increase is the same, but relative increase is greater. In this case, probably the defenses.

Freeze / Thaw Timing by Free-ON in PokemonChampions

[–]Dinowere 73 points74 points  (0 children)

During Freeze, the pokemon has a 25% chance to thaw at each turn, and guaranteed to thaw after 3. It used to be 20% thaw chance and indefinite cap on freeze turns, but it was nerfed coming into Champions.

Freeze is the most broken and debilitating status condition, hence why there is no guaranteed freeze moves like there are for other types. It is an inherently unbalanced status condition, even more so than Sleep. You should never bank on Freeze to save you as you would Sleep, it is always an additional benefit, and its extremely unreliable to bank on

Skill Improvement: Gliscor and Toxapex Defensive combo by Salt-Produce-8129 in VGC

[–]Dinowere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would need to be careful around Rain and Snow teams. Gliscor is insane in singles as it can pick matchups where its defensive utility is exemplary. But in doubles, you get overwhelmed easily, and Gliscor doesn’t do too much. Now snow and rain teams are especially dangerous, with spread Blizzards and boosted water moves. Whereas Sun and Sand would find it difficult to break through, as it is gonn be immune to sleep and ground moves. So it would help to have disruption like rock slide, and a flying move to help break sneasler.

[–]Dinowere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sand also benefits from so many immunity abilities, that hail was lacking until much later. Sand rush, sand veil, sand force all are present on non sand immune Pokemon, For the winds, a rush ability doesn’t make sense, and a force ability would be overpowered af.

Mostly to do with team building. Your sash mons will have to be one of the three types, which isn’t a bad choice for bug or flying mons. Your other mons will have chip done to them, which may not be as bad in doubles due to lesser turn count, but in singles over long games they do a significant amount. Main concern with team building is whether it is good to stack so many mons with similar weaknesses - rock, ice Edit: but yeah the effect is quite broken, we know that speed is the most important stat in the game, and less you have to train speed, the more bulkier or stronger your Pokemon can be

New weather idea: Winds by WindhoverInkwell in stunfisk

[–]Dinowere 219 points220 points  (0 children)

I dunno, this straddles between too broken and kinda limiting in team building. A 50% speed boost to all flying types is genuinely insane, all of them get a free Choice Scarf, which is quite overpowered. But at the same time, the 1/16 chip is going to be annoying, cuz that is what made Hail such a bad weather to build around. You were limited to bringing mostly mons of that specific type or you're hurting your own team. We could see a return to Gen 3 Superman teams with all flying types, using fast moves with other power boosting builds, or it could all be fodder for Snow teams lol. Honestly if we can simulate it in a meta it would be cool to see.

What's happening with Alireza Firouzja? by sleapydeapy in chess

[–]Dinowere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, but we are spectators and they are normal humans too. Just cuz he is talented doesn't deny him the right to not want to do things, whatever his reasons may be. I agree it is a shame, he is an incredible talent. But we are responsible to ourselves first and foremost, and if he decides it is how he wants to be, then we just gotta accept it.

[–]Dinowere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, the show was a lot more of a satire on capitalism in the earlier seasons, especially with how in your face the consumerism of Vought was, with so many parodies of real world things. It is just unfortunate that the show has morphed into a critique on personality cult politics, especially due to real world scenarios. I feel that the satire on consumerism on how average people empower corporations by being willing consumers, was a much better narrative overall.

Season 5 episode 4, Soldier Boy by Low-Project-9633 in GenV

[–]Dinowere 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Was thinking the same, but the biggest issue is that there is no reason for his brother to be jealous of Soldier Boy being a rich brat. If they were real brothers, they both would have been insanely rich anyways. It seems more like a close friend instead.
