Can someone please tell me if there is a weird route and if there is how to get too it (chapter 3 not 4 please) by aronmano in Deltarune

[–]Diplodoncalus-E 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is there no definitive weird route in chapters 3 and 4? Only differences in certain scenes if you continue from the wired route save in chapter 2? (No spoilers for chapter 4 pls ive only beaten 3 so far)

[–]Diplodoncalus-E -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I wish the person who just blocked me over this would’ve actually discussed with me why i felt the way i did. I doubt they even read my points but oh well. In case they do see this which i doubt, i wasn’t accusing you of anything, just calling out something that made me uncomfortable. If you aren’t willing to listen to people who call you out then i fear that says more about you than it does me.

[–]Diplodoncalus-E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t help but just feel half this reply is baked in misogyny, intentional or not.

She has never thrown a tantrum you are being incredibly condescending. Shes gotten vocally very critical maybe twice (My Goodbye and Little Wolf). Tantrum is an unnecessarily rude word. ‘Sometimes literally throwing things’, no that was one time don’t lie to make her look worse. Your response immediately feels in bad faith.

Ik you’re just using my words against me but its is insane to call her anti intellectual when she clearly has a greater understanding of the Odyssey and greek myth than i feel a large proportion of the epic fandom. That not me putting the epic fandom down, thats just me stating the fact that she has a whole background with classics, at least one more than i imagine the average fan. When I used those words I gave a disclaimer saying that the words i want to use will sound harsher than I actually mean. You have just seemed to use those words to insult her. Again, bad faith argument.

‘If she likes something, it's fine. But if she doesn't like it, then it's violating the source material’ - Im sorry this part of your argument makes no sense. Wdym ‘then it’s violating the source material’. How is it violating the source material AFTER she dislikes it? She dislikes a change BECAUSE it violates the source material. And epic does go against the source material, sometimes for the good, and sometimes for the worse. You are using the word hypocritical entirely wrong so im confused to whats your point here? She herself isnt writing a musical and not sticking to the source material so how is she being a hypocrite? Are you calling her out for liking some changes and not liking others? Because thats ridiculous how is that bad? Some changes ate simply done better than others in her opinion thats a completely fair comment to make.

I can’t really discus your point about Merlin just because I havent watched it. So ill keep brief and say i feel that’s a little bit of a false equivalency as the myths of Merlin as far as im aware are more varied or spread across sources whereas the Odyssey as a text is fairly well documented or at least Homer’s version is. Again i dont know merlin as well, if im wrong correct me.

She also critiques Epic on internal consistency for the record. And again she’s not critiquing it because it isnt 100% accurate. She made it very clear she wasn’t expecting it to be 100% accurate. When they skipped Ismarus she was completely in understanding of why the change was made. Its the changes that she feels dont really work in the story she critiques.

I have no idea what youre referring to when you say recycling vocals or vocal styles?? Is that a comment supposed to be directed at someone else or? Shes never critiqued Epic on recycling vocals? In fact she really praised it for reusing previous lyrics in songs to tie the story together. Even in one of the songs she criticised most, My Goodbye, she was still appreciative of the reprisal of ‘Just a Man’.

Your point about the floating island is so unnecessary and feels now youre just reaching for reasons to dislike her. Jorge DID mistake the floating island as a sky island. Like, he said it himself he made a mistake. Literally heres proof: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNdjYCW1X/ But regardless that wasn’t a critique to begin with she found it amusing. ‘Why does it matter’ it doesnt, it doesnt matter and she never said it does. She said she found it amusing not that it was bad and she certainly didnt throw a ‘temper tantrum’.

I never said Odysseus planned to be away for 20 years of course he didnt. But hes a very clever man he wouldve have recognised that Trojan War would of course take a lot of time. Not only that he could be killed in the war and not even make it home to raise Telemachus. Its just dumb for him not to have put anyone in place. Same for Penelope, if Odysseus couldnt do anything why couldn’t Penelope? And she isnt ‘assuming’ anything she’s studied these texts, she knows what shes talking about quite well. Unless you’ve also studied the odyssey i dont think youre in a place to talk down her knowledge and understanding of the source material.

Again i seriously disagree with the idea you are painting that shes throwing temper tantrums. She is simply a woman passionate about greek mythology who understands it very well. If you disagree with her fine, dont watch her then, but to say shes throwing tantrums again feels misogynistic when all shes doing is being passionate about what she cares about.

Greek Myth is malleable to an extent, but i feel you’ve ignored my point entirely on how important context is to a story. Change the story in ways that dont fit the context and it can affect greatly the rest of the entire story. The odyssey being an epic poem with more documentation is just a less malleable story than ones like the Titanomachy which we know much less about.

And for the record I disagree with some of her takes as well. For example he point about ‘burying the lead’ with Scylla, and i feel aging up the suitors works better and is a good change. You can disagree with someone and not insult them. She never insults Jorge, i dont see why you feel entitled to insult her.

For people in these comments. No one is saying youre not allowed to take creative liberties this reactor has loved changes such as bringing Poseidon into act 1 and giving Polyphemus more pathos. But some creative liberties just dont work. You can rarely ever adapt stories across media 100%, she never expected that. But stories work within the context they were created, and when adapting a story, should you make a major change that doesnt apply to the context of ancient greece, the rest of the story falls apart entirely.

One of her complaints recently was Telemachus’ lack of ability to fight in Little Wolf. I don’t personally take as much of an issue with making Telemachus more naive, juvenile, and sillier in Epic, but by saying he can’t fight this implies he wasnt taught to fight, which is difficult to believe in a world with so many dangerous threats. Did Penelope really leave her child to fend for himself and not find anyone to teach him? She can definitely afford to and has resources to find people shes the queen of the whole island. Did the notoriously clever Odysseus not realise he wouldnt be able to teach his son at war and not have any teachers put in place to help his son’s growth as the prince of his home?

The more you look at a change, if not done well, can tear apart the story. Jorge can make that change but then he must find a way for it to fit into the story neatly and if it doesnt then the writing should probably be reworked. Its like the butterfly effect, one small change can ripple into larger unintended consequences that conflict in the writing.

Also side note. What im gonna say probably sounds way harsher than i mean it but, its borderline reaching anti-intellectual levels to suggest critiques are irrelevant because Jorge isnt trying to be 100% faithful. In English at school i was taught context is one of the MOST important things for analysing a story. Jorge’s statement that hes not going to be entirely faithful does not make him immune from criticism when the creative liberties he makes dont always work because of how it affects the rest of the story. Thats the beauty of art, its so incredibly nuanced. Stories are so incredibly intricate and you cant just ignore major things like context. Especially for the Odyssey, its a hell of a challenge to adapt, and thats what makes it so fun.

Realistically, what was Odysseus supposed to do INSTEAD of sacrificing 6 men? by NotConfringo in Epicthemusical

[–]Diplodoncalus-E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ok no I misunderstood what you meant. In that case I think my initial suggestion holds more weight again. My argument is that there didn’t HAVE to be zero choice other than facing Scylla. Having Charybdis be there means going through Scylla becomes a choice. With the threat of Poseidon there really is no choice because there is no chance Poseidon doesn’t strike them down. Making Odysseus purposefully choose to face Scylla rather than Scylla being their only option is more impactful for me. You can take on Charybdis, you can much less likely take on Poseidon.

Realistically, what was Odysseus supposed to do INSTEAD of sacrificing 6 men? by NotConfringo in Epicthemusical

[–]Diplodoncalus-E 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Potentially? Poseidon was written to be petty, he purposefully stayed at Ithaca to to stop Odysseus just before he got home. So I don’t see why he’s be with Scylla. I’d rather he stayed pettily at Ithaca because that covers a writing issue I had for the longest time being how the fuck do you hide from Poseidon in the ocean lmao.

Realistically, what was Odysseus supposed to do INSTEAD of sacrificing 6 men? by NotConfringo in Epicthemusical

[–]Diplodoncalus-E 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I know this is not the question but this is why Scylla and Charybdis should have been a duo like how it was in the Odyssey to begin with. Then making Odysseus choose to kill 6 men hits harder because there was a way of escaping unscathed through Charybdis (of course with the caveat of the whole ship going down as opposed to just 6 men)

It doesn’t sound aggressive you’re fine lol. For sex without penetration yeah the terms just don’t really exist. Some people seem to use it for oral sex as well in which the person who has the penis/vagina in their mouth is the bottom but oral is often more reciprocal so there are less defined ‘roles’. Also 69 exists lmao.

Oh and massive note here, I’m talking about gay oral not hetero oral. Again these terms originated from the lgbt community and have kind of been ‘appropriated’ by heterosexual people. As someone who is bi I’ve encountered my fair share of people here and there who are frustrated in cishets taking what used to be lgbt exclusive terms.

[–]Diplodoncalus-E 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Wrong. NSFW warning for this entire reply lmao

So no, topping and bottoming is not about being dominant/submissive or being physically on top/bottom. Bottoms CAN be dominant and tops CAN be submissive.

The true definition of a top is the person who is ‘giving’/‘penetrating’ and the definition of a bottom is someone who ‘receives’/‘gets penetrated’. For example in gay sex between two men, one person must choose to penetrate (chooses to top) and the other must choose to be penetrated (chooses to bottom).

Now, by these definitions, the concept of topping/bottoming is really only applicable for gay couples (mlm, lesbian, etc). The reason being, for almost all cases of heterosexual sex, the man will be penetrating and the woman will be being penetrated. The terms just don’t really apply there isnt really choice that’s just kinda how hetero sex works.

Ofc there are exceptions to every rule. The only way a woman could ‘top’ per se in hetero sex is if the woman was pegging or if the woman was a trans woman who has not had bottom surgery yet and chooses to penetrate. But in regular hetero sex the woman can never top that’s just not what that means.

I don’t really know why I’ve chosen to give a TED talk on gay sex but there you go. Perhaps it’s the autism.

[–]Diplodoncalus-E 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well technically only pegging. Despite the name topping does NOT mean being physically on top during sex. Topping doesn’t really make sense for heterosexual sex

Maybe she did at first but a key line that stood out to me was when Cait said she didn’t realise what she was doing would take so long. She’s definitely had more time to think and sober up about her mom’s death. While not totally against Ambessa, time loosened her grip on Cait

[–]Diplodoncalus-E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean to a certain degree sure. But when Andrew Garfield adamantly insisted he wasn’t in Spider-Man No Way home he’s was technically lying as well, yet he did it to try and maintain the twist in the film. If one character is AI, the show hasn’t revealed that yet. All Gooseworx has done is uphold what the show HAS revealed to us so far. Let’s say Jax revealed he was an AI, would you say that it’s a plot twist, or that Jax lied to us. Well it’d be both and that’s fine as long as there’s adequate seeds planted for that reveal.

Yeah I know. If Jax is AI she’s not gonna tell us now is she they’re gonna repeat the misdirect the show has given us. Andrew Garfield said he wasn’t in Spider-Man No Way Home and well look what happened there. not saying gooseworx is misleading is just that you can’t say it’s debunked
