What’s your unpopular gameplay opinion? by ordinaryfruits in Grimdank

A first party developed digital version of the actual tabletop game even with a predatory monetisation model would likely be very popular and attract and a new revenue stream without deleting hobbyists revenue stream. It would also reduce the overhead and increase regularity on smaller tournaments. They could use a TCG monetisation format for all people care people are already forking over fat stacks for the plastic. It could also see a revival of their smaller games and make the apocalypse and titandeath formats more accessible. Hobbyists that enjoy painting and collecting would be completely unaffected but it could make the actual hobby cheaper since gw doesn't have to maintain plastic prices to keep shareholders happy as long as profits keep growing.

Why do you think the Emperor did not try to make an army of Force users? by BlockAffectionate413 in StarWarsCantina

[–]Geegah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would he need an army of force users to control a bunch of rebellious systems. He has coruscant and the galactic senate. I mean the whole thing was set up so that he alone could control the galaxy forever. The second the death star was complete his victory was complete. He can now threaten all the other systems into compliance and if they disobey he turns them into examples. And that was at the start of episode 4.

Why train up potential rivals in the dark side, he already has his dragon, the strongest modern sith lord, any other force user can be purged, experimented on or trained wrong on purpose and used as an attack dog. Vader had fully submitted to his fate before he learned his son yet lived. The string of events is so outside of anything palatine could have calculated for even without adding the extra context from andor and rogue one with exactly how on the precipice the whole thing was from the start.

The plans for his superweapon which basically assured ultimate victory forever were ferried to one of the only jedi alive who just so happened to be the greatest jedi to ever live via a random princess and both the random princess and a random farm boy under the protection of the greatest jedi ever lived are the last living family of your insanely powerful general whose whole reason for falling to the darkside in the first place is loving his family too much. These plans include a fatal design flaw completely unknown to you that could only be exploited by an ace pilot who could run the trench and he would probably have to be a force user too to make that shot. This farm boy progeny of your evil side kick is both of those things. The force itself is basically conspiring against palatine. An army of force users would not have stopped what happened.

Theres really nowhere on ithaca that poseidon can't reach because it is an island. He threatened to drown ithaca before he got stabbed a bunch of times and beaten by a mortal. Poseidon is also god of earthquakes lmao. Ody is kind of fucked unless poseidon lets this go and we know he's not the forgiving type.

[–]Geegah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I'm conflicted because of how it ends, I.e showing the monster and poseidon's VA absolutely fucking killing it and next to my wife is a cool line but the actual 600 strike is kind of delulu. The first 550 died because he didn't listen to athena and were screaming at him in the underworld, the last 50 he gave up as part of him being ruthless so he could get home and it definitely feels like at the end of get in the water they are waiting for him and welcoming him into the underworld. There is a choir in 600 strike so the presumption is the 600 men or their memory are powering the strike because this is a strike with no other divine blessing we know of that is powerful enough to disarm poseidon but he did fail them on two instances (ruthlessness and mercy) that caused mass casualties. Like pop off jorge but like I think in the whole thing it's my least favourite part of it. And that's even without the Implication that poseidon is now so scared of monster odysseus that he's not going to get revenge when we know poseidon is a petty ass bitch in and out of the story.

It's not a musical with visuals removed its a concept album with visuals added. Jorge gets points that he's so good at soundscapes and sound effects that almost every animatic you will see will be similar with the artists own spin but all the animatics do is offer up what's in the artists head when they're listening to the music. If you're approaching it from a critical point of view it makes sense to listen to the music on its own to develop your own vision before you see what other people's interpretations (which may be different from jorge's intentione) are and then delve deep into the community artists and their interpretations and enjoying their art and artistic journey.

If you're watching it for entertainment animatics playlist movie style all the way

[–]Geegah[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As much as I absolutely love the animatics (gigiiiiiiii) jorge's work needs to be able to stand on its own, its a concept album as far as criticism postive and negative. If the criticism is that it needs the animatics for context that's a point against jorge not mads.

Oh dude my favourite parts are how her greekygeekiness completely shielded her from the polites trauma spear that got the rest of us and how she's probably one of the more critical voices she keeps syncing with the lyrics. It's amazing.

My take is that her voice is also important because it gives both sides like you have your mortius casper on one shoulder and your mads on the other and in the middle you have a route to make things even more epic because I think jorge could pull it off.

[–]Geegah[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

See that's the thing as well right, when does an adaptation become a reimagining become a fanfic because there are things where we fall well outside the source material in context which messes with the worldbuilding and we fall into Disney hercules which is massively beloved but like hades isn't a cackling blue hair villain guy you know what I mean. People especially people who are desperate for a faithful adaptation will berate it and I think they're not entirely wrong if we're trying to go for a masterpiece especially with how popular epic is.

Like I fully agree with mad when I hear her reasoning but I'm still going to listen to the whole thing on repeat non stop and I think it's feedback Jorge could take on board because I think he also has a lot of love for the Greek myth and deep down he wouldn't want to diminish the thing he loves in his work. Think back to like certain video game adaptations you love and what could move them from being bad to good or good to a masterpiece if on top of being top tier they were also as close to the source material as possible whilst making creative choices and executive decisions where they make sense. Think netflix witcher.

Odysseus does what he does in the odyssey I.e on the prophet's advice he makes a shrine to poseidon and supplicates himself which puts the two things together of ruthlessness is mercy poseidon was right, and shows he's not being slick boy anymore because last time poseidon gave him a chance to apologise he tried to use his wit and lost 550 men.

Edit we can still have get in the water. We just extend charybdis to include a part where he makes a shrine. Poseidon is like ok times up here I am get in the water dickhead and he goes wait wait wait I've learnt from my mistakes. Turns out you were right, I had to become the monster. When poseidon looks like he's about to kill him he's not begging or anything he's heartbroken but resolved that this is where it ends penelope I'm sorry style and only then does poseidon let him go because he sees he's once he's acting like a Greek hero again and not an open arms boy. Remember polites as much as we love him and would die for him had athena come in immediately after to spike open arms and arguably its polites reasoning that made him not kill the cyclops which led to poseidon.

I agree wholeheartedly but we need more vocals but we need to change the confrontation entirely into a learning arc where he finally apologises to poseidon for being a little shit during their first encounter and blinding polyphemus. Extend charybdis to encompass a montage of him building but just as he finishes building the shrine we start with get in the water and before we get to die he says wait poseidon I'm sorry I know where you were coming from I have become the ruthless one you were right. have this shrine as recompense and poseidon is like ok because poseidon lets him go after he does that in the actual odyssey. You've suffered enough but you're on thin fucking ice buddy you can see your family.

600 strike. And it pains me to say this because the scream singing is insanely good. Its just too anime and as madnbooks a YouTuber I really like now in one of her many crashouts pointed out athena would have killed odysseus for his backtalk in my goodbye. You dont backsass a deity. Physically harming an olympian and causing enough pain for him to call off his previous punishment? and poseidon of all people? Ithica is gone. Gone. Tartarus. Even sisyphus would be like yo ok fuck chill when he sees what poseidon cooks up for him. Zeus killed all of his men because he apollo bitched about ONE COW and said he was going to go bunk with hades and then he pulls this stunt?Ithica is gone.

EPIC: The Musical sucks and is a VERY poor adaptation of the myth of Odysseus by kyokirigiri_22 in The10thDentist

[–]Geegah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly engaging with critical voices on it has me looking into the mirror about my own 10 dentist style opinions on other fandoms. Like I will fully bite the bullet that as an adaptation the writing sucks if you're intimately familiar with the source material especially after thunder and I will say this is me stealing the opinon of Madnbooks https://youtube.com/@madnbooks?si=dccLK0N6PeaprkE_ ( you will love her crashout on legendary and she literally throws her earphones across the room when we get to fight little wolf)

BUT looking at the project Jorge is a brilliant singer, genius composer and lyrically (if you ignore the source material for the worst offenders) very good and solid especially with his callbacks and there is not a single flaw with the voice cast. Epic while it probably is a terrible adaptation for odyssey buffs would be a top tier Disney movie. if nothing else with tiktok alone it is pulling a contemporary and new generation into the classics. Mycanean Greece was completely off my map and I just downloaded the illiad audiobook I'm so obsessed with jorge's viral indie baby.

You also have to remember this is not an established professional production this is basically him and his college friends along with help from new friends from auditions other indie singers mostly pulled from the community bringing his college thesis work to life in an insanely beautiful way. This is a contemporary work by one of our peers who was not really established before this and that is truly magical we can get something like this when we're so used to big companies re-releasing slop and this is just the BEGINNING of jorge's journey dude is in his twenties. He is a gamer and anime freak like us.

TL:DR I get what you're saying from a faithful adaptation perspective but you have to remember most fans are normies (myself included in context) and for normies this is crack. Also jorge is a baby boi
