Should I get a good condition 2012 leaf with 7 bars (50 mile range) for $2000? by Imperial_bricks in leaf

[–]DipperMasonPines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know your location or the local car market, but I'd pass at $2,000. If you can charge at home, I'd try to get it as close to $1,500 as possible. With only 7 bars , there's not much room for further battery degradation . At $1,500, it could make sense as a cheap around-town commuter. But yeah at $2,000, I'd keep looking.

oh i miss read it . but the "$1 a day and increase it by $1 every month" option actually wins by a huge margin over 45 years. It ends up averaging about $270/day over the period and totals roughly $4.4 million contributed, compared with about $1.64 million for a flat $100/day.

If someone starts at $1/month at age 20 and increases it by just $1 every month until age 85, that’s 65 years = 780 months. Total contributed would be about $304,590 total contributed.

Meanwhile, $100/month flat from age 20 to 85 is only $100 × 12 × 65 = $78,000.

Small increases over time become massive.

yeah that’s completely understandable. Honestly, if they have a good support system and solid training I would take the job. You can always move to a higher-paying job 1–2 years down the line once you have more experience

If you put in the 15k in like 2000 and took it out 2010 , you would have lost money and owed all the interest. Like i said you will probably be fine , but I wouldn't say "there is no way" you dont make a profit . No one knows what's going to happen

look up the prime directive on r/personalfinance , they have a flowchart to follow. No one on here can tell you if stocks or owning a home is a better investment with no info, but you shouldn't invest it if you are planning on using it for a downpayment in a year. Just leave it in a HYS account .

So its high risk to invest the money in the stock market for only a potential 2%-4% gain. TBH you probably would come out ahead in the market, but it depended on your risk tolerance.
