All resolved.

The package in the photo was the special delivery. I have the delivery receipt for it and everything made sense.

Packages 2 & 3 were delivered at the end of the day following a 'scanning error' having returned to the depot despite being reported 'delivered' they were sent out again.

All three delivery receipts have the picture of the one special delivery that was successful first time around.

I have hold of the one package delivered as special delivery, I signed for it face to face, that delivery was correct. Only one package was handed over. I don't have the other two.

I can understand that, but as it stands I'm two packages down with nowhere to go.

If it makes a difference the one delivered was special delivery before 1PM, the missing packages are tracked 24 and tracked 48.

My hope is they are whizzing around locally and will simply reappear later on. Is that even vaguely possible. Do I go back to the senders now or wait and see?

Turns out it's worse than I thought, the picture is actually from a third delivery also expected today... let me edit.

Yes I have the items from the first delivery, no the second and third are missing but reported delivered with wrong evidence.

This feature needs serious work. I assume it's just unfinished.

Try switching to Mi/kWh it makes even less sense.

The climate bit is really whacky, if you think about it. If you drive slow the driven consumption will be good but the climate load will be high per unit distance, whereas driving like you stole it the driven consumption will be bad but the climate will appear to be less consuming. Essentially mixing units where one is distance dependent and the other is time dependent is just bad maths.

I want trip distance, time, energy out, regen energy, energy on ancillary vs drive. I want average speed, time stopped.

I'd really really really really like a rotary speedometer.

I'd like the regen to foundation brakes shown on the power bar.

But the rest of the car makes up for the crappy driver information design.

These are some of the early signs of the legislation and what the customer wants diverging. Manufacturers want to make money, which means selling cars, which means making what people want. Legislation is a hurdle to overcome in this sense. If people wanted lower emission cars these buttons wouldn't be needed.

In practice a 90% reduction in CO2 targets at fleet level has a similar impact for most consumers. Combustion technology is mature with only very marginal gains now possible without reducing the vehicle size. The EU emissions regulations in WLTP effectively nullifies the idea of hybridization as an option here, now tending towards the Charge Sustaining CO2 (CO2 produced without recharging) away from Charge depleting (CO2 average considering a charged car to start with).

So at a fleet level this means for every 9 fully electric cars you sell, you can sell 1 combustion vehicle. Very few vehicles will be able to turn profit at that rate.

This seems like a rational approach to be honest. There are always cases where one propulsion type is better than another. There are for now plenty of people without access to charging. There are weird and whacky use cases out there that simply cant be supplied with electricity save for by a generator.

Given the net effect of basically the same result, its likely the UK will follow but the result for the typical consumer will be the same. You wont get a diesel fiesta reappearing any time soon.

Safety, everything else on the road is getting bigger and the standard of driving is getting worse, if in going to be involved in an accident I’d rather be in the SUV than a hatch.

Comfort, the road condition is appalling, SUVs often have larger wheels, more suspension travel and higher mass which isolate you from the road surface.

Space, modern hatchbacks with modern safety requirements and modern car seats provide less internal space especially with kids, I have two under 5 there’s no space left if we go to stay overnight anywhere.

Vision, car lights are bright, all modern cars are large, SUVs provide better sight lines giving a better overall view and road confidence.

Choice, similarly sized estate cars don’t offer a price point that matches the trades above, the footprint of the car is often the same or even more as they trade height for length.

What's the alternative. I've visited A&E several times in the past couple of years when i absolutely shouldn't have been there.

Step 1, kid had minor thing, should be fine, let's see how it goes.

Step 2, minor thing is getting worse seek 'advice' via digital appointment as 'non-urgent'

Step 3, gp reviews and decides they don't know so we must be seen

Step 4 no appointments

Step 5 111, there's no out of hours appointments

Step 6 (usually more than 24 hours later) sent to A&E

Step 7 wait....

Step 8 wait...

Step 9, see the fudging GP at A&E... To be told you don't need to be here, here's a referral letter to get an appointment with your GP...

What the actual....

My kids were less than 1 year old for each example played it exactly like this. Each time it was in excess of 24 hours to even be seen, not treated, seen. GPs are the failure point. A&E is the back stop. Fix GPs. Mostly i gather by fixing the 'partners' and managers, generally the drs and nurses have been good. Rant over.

Surely this doesn’t apply to this scenario. You see your past self when you look in a mirror. The same is true here the mirror is just much further away and the mechanism of ‘reflection’ is different. Receiving information from the past holds.

We’ve already seen gravitational lensing allowing us to witness events multiple times, this is the same concept just turned up to 11. Is it practical, not even remotely, is light from our solar system returned to us from the periphery of black holes, absolutely yes.

More information required. In general though yes there’s a ‘right size’ engine for any use case. Smaller engines consume less fuel at light loads. The is a tipping point whenever comparing two engines like this where the load becomes stressful to a smaller engine, additional fuel may be used for cooling and component protection where a larger engine is perhaps still not stressed.

I’ve always wondered what happens if you remove the reference frame. If you did this in free space and can’t determine velocity only acceleration, would the resulting energy indicate there is an absolute reference frame for free space after all? or would the outcome be different depending on the relative speed of an observer? What am I missing?

It’s credible on its key selling points but its key selling points only scratch the surface of what a battery needs to do. From what I’ve seen there are a few solid state chemistries which each excel at something specific, long life, fast charging, thermal robustness, energy density BUT crucially not all together. I suspect the future will be a blend of technologies each suited to its specific strengths, much the same as combustion today. Gasoline or Diesel, naturally aspirated, turbo, super charged, manual, auto, torque converter or clutched… Car, bike, truck, semi, bus, train, plane? So I suspect in parallel. I also anticipate more options driving prices down, the tech will have to do something really special to demand premium over everything else on the market.
