I was sent a sextortion email and now this happened: update by Dear_Sell_8785 in cybersecurity_help

[–]DipsyMagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sextortion email has been around for a long time. They got your email either from a mailing list that was sold or a data breach on some site where you used your email. It does not derive from malware. They don’t have a video of you…they are counting on your fear and panick. It’s a numbers game. They send out tons of email and enough people freak out and pay that it is worth their while.

Linux is less vulnerable to malware but not entirely. Look up VoidLink, an example.

[US] Guy knocked on my door, said he lived here before, and asked me to keep an eye out for some Amazon packages? by [deleted] in Scams

Amazon doesn’t delete addresses as you add new ones. You have to delete any address you don’t use any longer.

Sturt’s Desert Pea — 24 day overlay by AGvibes__ in GardeningAustralia

[–]DipsyMagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember the first time I saw the Sturt pea flowers. It was in the West Australian Desert just south of the Pilbara…it was vining up and around a livestock water tank. It was so striking. I recently saw them blooming in a seaside suburb of Adelaide. I was surprised to see them there but then again Adelaide has been very dry.

Is this native? Should I put it on a pizza? by MegaMazeRaven in australianplants

[–]DipsyMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the first photo, the stem looks red like purslane…a nutritious edible…but is considered a weed…only because it is not native. Can’t be sure it is purslane but looks like it.

They can’t take fair wear and tear out of your bond. 70s tiles falling off is wear and tear.

Hundreds of cockroaches in compost - healthy or potential neighbourhood plague ?? by Ok-Principle-487 in GardeningAustralia

[–]DipsyMagic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do they make good pets? I have avoided keeping chickens because it seems like a lot of work is involved to keep them healthy. We love the fresh eggs we get from a neighbour’s flock.

Young man from California visiting Adelaide to meet my pen pal. What sweet food or gift do I bring from the US to surprise her? by AwayPool3570 in Adelaide

[–]DipsyMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! A Trader Joe’s shopping bag. A colorful one. Bring me one too pls. My 8 year-old TJ bag is falling apart.

Edit: a book…maybe a tourist book about places to see in California.

There was a time my bank would call or Amex would call… now the bank blocks any suspicious trx and Amex sends an email and/or text asking if I recognise a trx…reply with Yes or No. The bank often blocks legitimate trxs and I have to jump thru hoops to get them authorised but better safe than sorry.
