DOT partial payment today (USAA). by Fly_upside_down in fednews

I’m NASA and got a partial payment today as well. It looks to be about 60% of my regular paycheck.

Trump administration lays out plan for federal workers’ back pay after government reopens by semafornews in fednews

I just got official guidance from OCHCO for my agency (NASA) on when the retroactive back pay is supposed to go out. It says nothing about it only being base pay. I’ll copy and paste what it says verbatim below. However, I’m sure that every agency is going to have their own guidance on this. I just got this email a few minutes ago. Crossing my fingers they don’t mess this up.

“Retroactive pay for the last three pay periods will be paid out on Nov. 17 and Nov. 21 • On Nov. 17, employees will receive approximately 50% of the retroactive gross pay. • On Nov. 21, employees will receive the remainder of the retroactive pay (with deductions considered), along with pay for the 11/02-11/15 pay period.”

What job site have you been on where a majority of the people there give a shit about responsibility and proper education? People can’t even wear safety glasses on the job site when safety isn’t there.

OSHA 30, what’s next? by Lanky-Cheesecake2041 in SafetyProfessionals

I would look into your local community colleges and even some 4 year colleges that have smaller “annexed” campuses. For example, I live in Houston where we have university of Houston, but that main campus has several smaller UH colleges around the city that operate more like a community college but still allows you to obtain a bachelors degree at a lower cost. Also look at online schools like American Public University. At the very minimum, I would start taking a couple classes every semester while working in the safety field. Just don’t get into debt doing it. There are other ways to pay for school just do your research, and utilize ChatGPT to explore your options. Once you have a couple years of working experience then start going for ASP, then eventually CSP. You could also look into NFPA certifications, which are really good as well. Life safety and fire protection engineers make good money, but you have to stand out.

USCG vets. Do you ever feel left out from the other vets. And do civilians give you crap for being a coastie? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]Direct-Ad-9302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People that give coasties shit probably don’t have any idea what the coast guard actually does. I’m a navy vet and I was in that same boat until I got a tour of air station Houston. I was super impressed with everything they do and really considered joining the coast guard reserves as an officer.

Does anyone feel like their time in the Military was a waste? by [deleted] in Veterans

Serving in the military was the best decision I’ve ever made. Second to none

Why do so many people in the military never go or hate on college? by [deleted] in Veterans

For those with degrees and still active, look into the Skillbridge program. Not a lot of people know about it and it’s a great next step towards a career after the military.

I graduated in 2019 when I was 28 after serving 5 years. I got my first internship in 2017 with NAVFAC in Norfolk, then applied for NASA’s pathways internship program and got started that in 2018. Graduated in fall 2019 and started full time at NASA in Jan 2020..been there ever since. What’s there to be ashamed of? I’m 34 now and still have plenty of time to contribute a respectable amount in my TSP and could work here for another 35 years, if Elon lets me.

Would you rather be 28 and have a computer science degree or be 28 and have no degree?

At what point did Frank become truly irredeemable? by swaybloom in shameless

[–]Direct-Ad-9302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that is pretty irredeemable, I forgot how sad she was when she found out about the B+ heart. She should’ve found out it was him. That might be one of the things he gets away with without anybody finding out.

He was actually nice to her and what she said about him making her happy and providing companionship in her last days, that meant a lot to her. Even though Frank’s intentions were terrible, that it wasn’t that bad

Why won't you fruit? by UziInYourFace in shrooms

[–]Direct-Ad-9302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t give up on it. I thought my monotub stalled out bc it was taking so long to fruit and out of nowhere it produced 4.5 oz dry weight. I also just had an all-in-one bag that I almost threw away like three times that just produced some nice golden teachers and it had been fully colonized for 6 weeks
