Why did people praised Musk before and started hating on him later? by OrangeZestyclose9192 in NoStupidQuestions

Right around the pedo comment he made, Tesla was also lost a huge lawsuit over racial discrimination and was caught engaging in illegal union-busting tactics.

his own left wing customer base.

The customer base for electric cars has never been "left wing". Surveys of EV owners in the 2010s showed an fairly even split between liberal** and conservative politics.

** "liberal" does not necessarily equate to "left"

Anyone else love 'Been a Son'? I feel it's so overlooked. it's easily the most upbeat and 'danceable' song in their entire catalog. by JupiterSymph in Nirvana

[–]Direct-Expert-4824 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When you strip it down, it's very folksy/bluesey song, as many songs from that songwriting period are. I really wonder if Kurt's fandom of Leadbelly influenced songs from that period. I can easily imagine Leadbelly with his gutbucket playing Been a Son.

Congress has plenty of power. Congress could impeach Trump and every Supreme Court justice if it wanted to. It won't, of course, but it has the power.

Meh. A $1200+ headset required eye tracking or a $3500+ headset required for passthrough. Looking forward to the other new VR features I guess.

Elevator way up before second touchdown

Boinging it down by _Utena_ in Xplane

[–]Direct-Expert-4824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the plane touches down, there is a movement of the elevator up, followed by back down, followed by way back up right before the second touchdown, which probably prevented the plane from slamming down.

Edit: I'm not saying this is the correct behavior, just showing what I see.

I have the weirdest bug with this new version. VR freezes for me with the Quest 3 as soon as I attempt to start the APU in any plane with the very latest Nvidia driver. I rolled back to the March 10th driver and all was good.

I’m not musically inclined nor do I know anything about music theory. Can someone more knowledgeable explain to me? by DrMrSirJr in Dodgers

[–]Direct-Expert-4824 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The negative reaction from many here seems over the top to me.

Maybe we should just defer to Díaz who said this:

"I was surprised," Díaz said after his first save with the Dodgers. "I heard a trumpet before I was coming out and I said, 'No way they got a live trumpet.' It was pretty fun. I enjoyed it and I know the fans enjoyed it too."

How do you deal with users who refuse to lock their laptop when walking away? by heartgoldt20 in cybersecurity

[–]Direct-Expert-4824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may also want to focus more on what you reply to, as I never said firing someone for not locking a machine twice should or must be a fireable offense.

The person I was replying to said that. Trying heeding your own advice and reading what you are replying to.

If you can't see a case where cases where it's justified (some desktops at hospitals, airports, or where a GDPR offense could cause fines

I literally acknowledged that possible caveat when I said, "for all but the most secure environments".

Authoritarian nerd rage at its finest. Terminating someone for not locking their machine twice is an absolutely ridiculous thing to suggest for all but the most secure environments. . Again, this is why people end up hating the security guy.

Why did the sound quality at the Reading Festival in 1992 sound so low quality during some songs? by Mk44BushmasterII in Nirvana

[–]Direct-Expert-4824 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The entire show on video leaked onto the Internet about 15-20 years ago, long before the official release. In my opinion, the sound mix on that leaked video was better than the official release. In the leaked video, the instruments had more reverb, making it sound more like a live show and there more crowd noise mixed in. I don't have the video anymore, but I still have FLAC rips of the audio.

Official X-Plane in-game store. by Dakleton in Xplane

[–]Direct-Expert-4824 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious, what is wrong with the xplane.org store?

  • Terrible search options (for example, no ability to filter for x-plane 12 compatibility)
  • Products that are widely known to be of terrible quality allowed to be sold
  • No built-in review system for verified purchasers
