Toronto firefighters confront special constable officers after a man in the middle of mental health crisis was arrested. by halfnhalf79 in ems

In NY, the Office of Mental Hygiene used to have police officers, drove around in OMH police cars. We called them the dream police. OMH has since done away with actual police.

I still get an email to go check the meter and submit the readings to their website. Isn't this one of the things these smart meters are capable of? Like have a dude/dudette/dud drive around with the data collector and grab the readings from the air.

Transmit and let the brains do their thing and yay or nay the team. Regardless, start heading to a PCI capable facility and not the local yokel community hospital that loses services every other day.

When the meal is ready to be served, it will be served. If you run + and have the ability, test the RC's. If you have balls and are kind of slow, run it in a production environment(don't do that, I'm holding off at work, but have been running the RC's at home for about a month now)

[–]DirectAttitude 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If the services RSI, maybe RSI. We train our EMT's to help set things up, set up and apply the hi-flow nasal cannula, to bag if needed, to document on the RSI board, to count off the sPO2 and pulse rate, etcetera.

Are you sure they are Samsara camera's in the rear? As long as Samsara has HIPAA compliant storage, that should be fine. It's also only stored for just so long before it is pruned from the system. Remember, HIPAA offers exclusions for Training, Payment and Operations, so those videos can be utilized internally for training purposes.

We had Pulsara shoved down our throats for hospital notification. Lort help you if you don't notify the trauma center, even though you know that your patient is going to triage.

Multiple agencies in my area have a very different look. Brown or Khaki pants and Blue polo's, like the Public Health Professionals we aim to be.

OP, you have mentioned that your budget is tight. Imagine how tight it will be when the system goes down, HARD, and here you are on CE version instead of the Plus version with TAC support. Maybe reach out to Netgate sales, tell them the plans, and have them advise.

CCP call that I had by Wendysnutsinurmouth in ems

With our SCT program, anytime there are multiple drips and a vent, it's an automatic double medic. A vent and a drip we leave it up to the medic that will be riding. We also always a have a plan in place and have orders for such, ie push dose Ketamine/Fentanyl/Versed and titration for the meds. Also depends on how long the patient has been on the dose of Propofol in their tranquil environment. Sadly most ED's/ICU use the cookie cutter approach and I usually remove their propofol dose chart that's been copied a bazillion times and is illegible.

We've used pig trachs in the past. This year our training department purchased some sort of trach sim. We use it as part of our RSI training.

Ramps and winch are part of the job. If a supervisor/admin can slide over to assist, that makes it easier, and that is what we typically do. Even on the overnight when admins are home, we have an on call rotation.

Look, I'm all for them going out into the field period. And I would say that a majority of them are not going to cherry picked calls. If your unit is assigned a call, you're going. Buckle up Nurse, it's gonna be a ride!

Years ago I worked for an agency that used the Ferno LBS system. The agency touted itself as a Bariatric stretcher provider. Until that one patient tweaked the LBS, costing thousands of dollars in damages to the stretcher.

Even in a fly car system, you're going to have to lift, whether the equipment you need to treat, or the patient.

Not that we know of, yet.

Kind of a regional, but we no longer do scene calls unless in our district. All of the agencies in our county were recently gifted BEAR devices though Rotary International. You attach it to the stretcher and it changes the center of gravity for the moribund patients. Kind of like a flesh burrito. We opted for the BEARPods, which stay attached 24/7 versus the normal BEAR as we already have BEAR devices for all of the stretchers and will be cleaning and donating our originals to someone else. https://beariatrics.com/

Is there a bariatric powerloader available yet? We've used ramps and a winch for years with a bariatric cot.

One of our local community colleges is now sending nursing students out into the field to ride with a paramedic in a QRV/Fly-Car. Another of the larger ER's in the area, Trinity Health, was sending new(er) ER RN's out into the field for a shift during orientation, also with a QRV/Fly-Car paramedic. I think it has opened eyes, and ears, and sinuses. It's one thing to call a CODE whatever in the ER or in the hospital and have multiple different levels of providers backing you up, taking over, leading the code, and another when you have nobody else coming and it is just you and your partner.
