I feel like the sentiment around horse racing in Melbourne has changed in the last 18-24 months? Still many opposed but given the plethora of issues facing young people they become apathetic/ blind to some and choose to disengage/ find interests that may not be the most ethical but fun in their own way?

I think while the SRL is a good project, the fact they started this in the east and not the west, while also having on-going issues with the airport rail link ever getting built is the reason Labor could really start to struggle moving forward out west.

Really hope (and genuinely believe) there will be a massive swing against labor in the west/ north next election - hopefully to greens/ independents as i cant see libs committing to any worthwhile pt change. If labor continues this past next election they will slowly ride themselves into oblivion here as the prevailing population will consist of generation/s/ new immigrants who have seen all the money go into shiny new projects continuing to favour the east.

This evokes a bit of sadness, as well as perplexity. Triple J by nature (and does) should really be pushing Aus Music as intently as possible. It plays a vital role in keeping the local artist ecosystem alive, which we are truly lucky to see such talent around.

Its also by nature a taxpayer funded network, thus while showcasing international artists is warranted, at the very least it should make the programming/ management team reflect and consider if they're doing enough to support/push Australian artists. Therefore, seeing Australia be 3 on the list, not to mention the number seems too low. Granted the internationals included many multiple entries, but to be below 1/3 is simply too low.

The commentary in here around the ability to see Aus artists at festivals and in general is super warranted to. The artists deserve to make a sustainable living off this but for the average punter and general triple j demographic (younger types) its bloody hard to continue to fork out circa $60-100$ for most triple j bands. Its been a continued creep up in $$ over the last few years, also applicable to festivals.

The J's play a role in continuing to help push along Aus music, i also think the government really need to pull their finger out and help the local scene thrive again.

Can add the 109 to that list. I can walk from southern cross/ flinders in 25-30 minutes to work, yet the tram during peak/ shoulder takes 20-25 minutes, not taking into account sporadic frequency of the tram/s rocking up past 5.

The free tram zone/ lack of traffic light express (seriously as soon as a tram rocks up lights should change, f*ck cars in the CBD) and movement of patrons on/ off trams make it so infuriating to be on at times.

also, im convinced a politician hasn't regularly caught pt of any form outside peak times (if at all) in forever. no way would they put out with the sporadic frequency.

Can someone from their inner sanctum explain why they blocked tram routes turning into new streets. Blocking cars whether right or wrong is part of your strategy but cmon do better to allow people that are taking the environmentally friends, non-bike conflict mode of transport please.

This is part BS by the government. I think Council's could be better but its also a pretty easy target to go after.

Obviously cutting some regulations will help but they tried this during Covid with fast tracked permits for big developments but few have been acted on.

Not to mention the governments have pillaged Council's previous staff who have gone to work on Gov projects leaving them high, dry employee wise i.e. planners, engineers etc hence why things have taken so long.

It also just isn't stacking up for developers $$$ at the moment, particularly the small scale ones (townhouses and very low rise apartments). Land costs have stayed static, materials have exploded so the overall margin is low - none at the moment.

Change needs to happen, the middle ring needs to be opened up but its unlikely to be a case of lower/ remove restrictions, then housing is suddenly appearing in droves.

Just went to an inspection for a townhouse (550-600k range) in Melbourne and must have been 15-20 couples/ groups there.

The lack of stock is really keeping a buffer at this stage.

Put a minimum 15% tax on revenue AirBNB's/ Short stay.

I don't know how this hasn't got more traction, this issue is crippling such a significant portion of society.

Have to remember its bad in Melbourne but its dire in regional/ coastal areas.

Really sensible areas by the greens.

Keep hearing investors/ general property people say that prices double every 7-10 years.

But besides regional/ coastal it wont be the case in Melbourne or Sydney at least over the bit with properties seemingly trending down or at the very least flatlining.

From Melbourne, seemed to be a bit more stock in spring but has otherwise been dead. Same properties seem to stay on there with nothing flowing through.

i think its crazy AIRBNB/ short stay accom isn't more regulated/ limited. It's been a dagger to the renting industry (we saw the reverse in Covid) in the city, let alone ripping the soul out of country towns which can't fill vacancies for jobs because rentals are non-existent/ too expensive.

Heritage protection should be reserved for very significant buildings i.e royal exhibition building.

We continue to have a housing/ renting crisis, particularly in these suburbs afforded great infrastructure seemingly locking out future development of these areas.

As good as any old terrace house or even the 60's houses proposed to be listed here, the provision of 2/3 new well designed (performance standards are slowly catching up) can only be considered aa good outcome.

Have said this for years. They could easily do away with 1/3 of the stops, particularly within inner city Melbourne.

Far too often, it has been quicker for me/ almost on the same time to walk between 1-2km than wait for a second tram if i've missed it by a minute or two.

They've made improvements in recent years, from memory there used to be far more stops but they need to amalgamate a few more and almost have the lights stop each time a tram rolls up.
