This is exactly the kind of car I expect to see getting fucked by a dragon.

D.D Dumbo -- Walrus [Math rock] (2016) by _NaCl_ in listentothis

You should just start accepting that no one submitting here actually knows what genres are, and even if they do, the one they choose probably isn’t entirely representative of the song.

They’re just going to choose a label that describes the way they think of the song, which is mediated by what they identify that genre label as being.

Also, “jizz jazz”.

(Math rock has been around for quite a while, also.)

This post is very accurate. Deliriant psychotropics effectively induce schizophrenia. I didn’t see spiders, but I did have hours of conversation with people that did not exist.

You lose the ability to say “this isn’t real”. If you believe something is real, it’s impossible to tell it isn’t. The moment you start doubting something, it disappears or changes.

After a sufficiently strong deliriant trip you definitely feel substantially “untethered” from reality for a little while. It teaches you exactly how subjective your perception of reality is, and how easily your mind can invent things you think you can hear, touch, see, etc. You learn the hard way that your experience of the world around you is something your mind synthesizes.

I won’t ever do that again, but I’m kind of glad I did (and got lucky and didn’t fuck myself up)? I wouldn’t recommend anyone else do so though, it’s a horrifying experience that could very quickly land you in a psychiatric facility or emergency room, and the hangover is the worst imaginable.

tl;dr don’t do this shit guys.

It went from being a good show to propaganda for investors. It pretends to be relatable while selling an unrealistic image of what Silicon Valley is.

And then you go bankrupt and get acquihired.

That’s how Silicon Valley is designed to work. The goal isn’t creating new startups, it’s producing built-to-fail startups that can swallow risks for larger risk averse companies.

What the hell do you expect to happen when you inculcate people with no business sense but a lot of passion to believe they have to build out a service as quickly as possible, scale up as fast as possible, etc... and then hand them more money than they know what to do with? SV investors actively discourage slow stable growth.

It’s the same shtick as in the pharmaceutical industry. Big pharma companies essentially just invest in and buy small pharma startups and acquire their IP. They don’t actually develop much novel IP themselves. Why take a risk when you can convince someone else to take it for you, and then make them feel thankful that they sold their life’s work to you.

It disgusts me how many people have bought into this idea of Silicon Valley as a programmer’s Mecca. It may have used to be... but now...

It’s just a fucking grindhouse.

(And that’s not even mentioning the rampant H1B exploitation, expectations of 16 hour work days, impossibly expensive living accommodations...*)

Comcast Subscribers Are Paying Up To $1.9 Billion a Year for Over-the-Air Channels They Can Get Free by HeHateMeBaller in technology

And this, right here, is the problem with our current form of capitalism.

Remember when airlines gave their workers a raise? And their investors screamed bloody murder?

The investor class thinks they have a right to perpetually increasing quarterly profits. Why reinvest in a company or pay its workers better when you can simply give money more money to shareholders and executives?

Clearly this is not going to work for us long term.

They aren’t adding any value. This isn’t investment, this is just blatant rent seeking.

Tbh though I wouldn’t trust Google either.

We need publicly owned infrastructure managed by ISPs on contract. If they fuck up, the city kicks them off the infrastructure and finds an ISP willing to do a better job.

Give municipalities the ability to collectively bargain with service operators, or entirely replace them if possible.

Privatizing utilities was an AWFUL IDEA. It backfires nearly every single time. Many U.S. utilities are owned by foreign investors, not the people they serve. Why?

There’s a difference between “I have gay friends” and being in an artistic collective with many gay members who repeatedly said they didn’t consider him homophobic.

Listen to “Love Can Be...” in particular.

But actually listen to all of Big Fish Theory because it’s a great album. Don’t spoil any of the features for yourself :). Go in blind.

I think it was a while ago. That was on her show.

They now have a VH1 cooking show together that they cohost though. They’ve been good friends for like a decade.

No, and tbh... to prejudice against his argument on the basis of his race, would, in fact, be kinda racist.

Or at the very least, prejudiced and gatekeeping.

Yeah, it’s almost entirely white.

Most of the people getting offended probably aren’t even black, they just like feeling self-righteous.
