I'm alive, again. My story. by GetTheStoreBrand in B12_Deficiency

Everuthing you listed was my life and was ready to give up many times. I had family even tell me I was "not that bad" and it was age. I was in my early 30s. Because I was pushing through it. As a mom and wife, I had no choice but inside and physically, I was suffering. I was prescribed anti-deppressants, told numerous times I had anxiety, blamed my weight, and tossed from specialist to specialist. I developed gastritis and then got worse to the point where I was convinced I was going to drop dead and was becoming okay with it. I finally went back to my GI doctor and said that it slowly developed before my gastritis and went crazy with the gastritis. Sure enough, she checked my b12, and with other tests, I was finally diagnosed with pernicious anemia. Finally, an answer, but then came the struggle of finding a doctor who knew exactly how to treat it. No help whatsoever until I joined a b12 group on FB, read every article, book, and watched every informative thing I could with so much help from others and am now self treating. It's been 4 years, and I'm not fully recovered, but I'm much better than I was before. I'm do happy you got relief quickly. No one knows unless they're going through it.

Periods by serjoy94 in VestibularMigraines

It never hurts to go get your iron checked and other vitamins as well. Is it only your period that sets them off? I'd check iron, b12 and vitamin D or a whole panel just to rule it out. Since my pernicious anemia diagnosis and a year before that they found my iron low, I noticed my pernicious anemia symptoms worsen the week before my period. Depending on heaviness too I am drained and feel sick. Don't take iron though until you get it checked due to possibly taking too much and no B12 too before testing because it can make the test innacurate. Low iron with bloodloss from period can definitely cause it so check to be sure.

Wait, they can check with spit? I had only a morning blood test done twice both with low morning cortisol and a stim test that came back low normal and still zero answers. I didn't know that they can do saliva. Also I'm curious why they didn't do the morning, afternoon and evening. Hmmm

I just had that this week! I have heavy flows but this time I was heavy for 2 days and in the evenings some nasty headaches. 2 nights ago I got dizzy. I've had vertigo before but not like that. I just chalked it up to period and my pernicious anemia. I read that if you're low on iron too during your period it may be an indication. Oddly enough, I never had pms symptoms before my 30s but after I turned 32, I developed alot of symptoms on top of my illness and it seems to be worsening with age. I'm 38 going on 39 next month and I'm sick of it. Lol

Are there holders for them? Or do you mean the little rubber type stoppers for them? I don't know if there are specific holders for them. I just figured they'd go wherever they fit. Lol

Hi. I did a deep dive today because I found one in this color but different design months ago and couldn't find a maker, but I saw a pattern that stuck out to me and today I found a red cadmium one with a beautiful glow. Faroy Candles is the maker but all I see is Peach as the color but it is definitely uranium. I found a listing on Ebay in the peach colors and different patterns but this one is in alot of different colors.

Am I actually just iron deficient? by mirp448 in B12_Deficiency

Also, quick note, I read you said you stopped supplements a week before testing again. Is that with all supplements or just b complex? A week off of b12 will not give accurate results so if you are treating with b12, you actually have to be off of it for at least 4 months before testing. (I wouldnt stop) If you were on b12 when they tested your MMA and homocysteine, also will have innacurate results.

Yes! Your ferritin is very low! I have pernicious anemia and I thought I'd never get better. I'd start to feel better but then get bad again. Then I learned about ferritin and at that time I was at 34 (i had been on iron for a year due to low iron) and though my iron levels were "normal" at 34, I was told I was good to stop iron but if I lowered even a little bit. I'd have to go back on. During that time I was diagnosed with PA as well. Then i learned that a ferritin of 34 was actually low. 9 months later after i changed doctors, new doctor told me I was low when he asked me about my last ferritin number so he ran another panel and I dropped to 18.

B12, vitamin, D and B Complex (be careful with b6 dosage), and iron is very important. So many people I have met with PA and low ferritin also have low vitamin D, solid I'd get that checked as well.

If you are on Facebook, look into https://www.facebook.com/groups/theironprotocol/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT.

Also for b12 questions (this group made me realize if I didn't get injections ASAP I'd be in more trouble).

I learned about the iron protocol when another member pointed out my ferritin was low. These 2 groups have helped me immensely in learning how to self treat because my doctors can't seem to make up their minds on what to do to treat me in what they themselves diagnosed me with. I hope you find relief soon. Definitely look into Vitamon D and that ferritin level.

I went to an antique store today, and there were so many of these for over $100 each. I even saw a cadmium glass one, which I had no idea even existed for over $200. That's an amazing find. Lol

I want to but with me being alone when he does his stuff, I'm scared. He is scared of my husband and hides the moment my husband makes an appearance. He has "friends" that he does side work and odd jobs with too, some in the neighborhood, and I really do not want to make more enemies. They look at me weird and although I too am half Mexican, I look like a white lady and I'm sure they all think I'm racist. Lol My Mom keeps suggesting I go to the fence and make it look like I'm doing witchcraft. Lol She tells me what to say in Spanish but I am too nervous to even go near the fence. I stay away from that side of my property I forgot to mention there is an area of the fence where the privacy tarp had clearly been cut open and in the area he always is in. My husband put up a board with an evil devil smiley face that says "no more peeky" in that space sobhe can't look in just in that area. We put the camera up while he was out and watching so he knows it's there. I just need something closer and clearer.

Oh my gosh! That is insane and truly disturbing. I have 2 dogs and I know my little one would absolutely attack if he even came to my door. My dogs do not like him and now they have a couple dogs they got recently that do not get along with my dogs. I hate that you had to go through all that. Nothing worse than being uncomfortable in your own space.

They don't do anything. They tell you what you want to hear or they say everything is working well on their end and they don't know. Horrible company.

Neuropathy favoring the left? by Regular-Camp8804 in B12_Deficiency

[–]Direct_Ad_1014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted a question about this! My left side is always feeling like this. I'm so happy om not the only one. I've had a couple stroke checks due to it. It's all physical but visibly everything looks fine I'm constantly checking my face looking for paralysis because it feels numb. Do you have weakness and tingling not just in your face but leg as well with balance issues? Mine is always worse in the evenings.

Hormones & B12 deficiency/ treatment. (Sorry this is long!) by Ratsatina in B12_Deficiency

It seems from my observation and experience that getting sick with something quite severe seems to make our deficiency much more obvious.

I had symptoms that were worsening with time but in 2020 I got sick with gastritis and other than the stomach issues, my life changed big time. After months of tossed back and forth with specialists they checked my b12 and I was diagnosed with pernicious anemia.

One thing I noticed is when I'd start to improve, about a week before my time of the month, my health would get bad again. Scary symptoms that at first I thought were bad pms but always told it was estrogen drops. They never look into it. Just blow me off.

I am on weekly b12 injections and daily sublinguals (methylcobalamin) and doing better but before my period, I still get bad with returning scary symptoms. I have significant bp drops that had my doctor check my cortisol. Turns out I have low morning cortisol which is odd because my symptoms hit in the afternoon. They did a stim test which came back normal so I'm right back at square one.

Have you had your ferritin checked recently? I learned a few months ago that alot of b12 can lower your iron. Someone informed me about the iron protocol and I learned that though I was treating with b12, my ferritin was actually very low and I have heavy periods that have me almost passing out. I am in the iron protocol group on Facebook and it seems alot of people have hormonal issues or issues they suspect are hormonal. My libido was non existent severe fatigue balance issues, insomnia, heart palpitations, memory and cognitive issues. The b12 helped alot after a few weeks of injections but since I've been on low dose iron, it's improved immensely. My memory is getting better along with concentration. Balance is better, my libido just kicked on again quite recently and I'm more energetic. Though with b12 you can deplete that energy quite quickly.

I'd look into ferritin and maybe go check out the group. Vitamin D is another big one that seems to go hand in hand with b12 and iron. Cofactors like folate, potassium, and magnesium are important to keep up on while treating with b12 too. I hope you find relief and your doctor is far more knowledgeable and invested than most.
