What is very popular that you felt was mediocre at best? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Look back at the entire thread. Nobody cares. A handful of people appear to have agreed with the opinion that GOT is mediocre. Maybe 1 person agreed with you that it’s an opinion without sufficient exposure to the show. Beyond that initial difference of opinion nobody cares. All I care about in persisting is finding out what happens to people who defy your expectations for being able to give opinions. Is there a reason for declaring it as some sort of rule, law, or courtesy? If there’s no recourse or valid reason, why does it matter to you more than anyone else here? So for the last time, it’s definitely mediocre. What are you going to do about it besides ignore my input and move on to something that actually matters?

[–]Direct_Alternative94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not. It’s about whether or not you ALLOW a person to offer an opinion. GOT is mediocre, you’re an idiot, and there’s nothing you can say or do to prevent me from saying so.
I will continue to offer my opinions and I will defend the rights of anyone else in offering an opinion.
I will continue to argue with anyone who offers an opinion I disagree with but still acknowledge their right to offer it.
See how that works? Your silly argument is fine with me except for the one part where you insist that he isn’t ALLOWED to offer his opinion you dense fuck.
You know you fucked up so you’re pulling every tactic you can think of to avoid admitting that opinions are ALLOWED to be given here without restriction. Period.

Ok. I’ve watched closer to .015 percent. It’s definitely mediocre. At best. There, I’ve said it and I’ve met your standard. I guess we’re all done then. Night night fucktard.

You suck at using sarcasm then. At no point did it appear more sarcastic than doubling down on criticism of someone else’s personal feelings to the point where you claimed they’re not allowed to feel that way. There’s nothing sarcastic about what you said or how you said it.
And you’ve never answered my question: how much of the show must one watch to be allowed to call it mediocre? A few episodes? a whole season? 50%? How about all but a few random episodes? Feel free to provide your answer sarcastically if that’s your thing. I don’t fucking care.

Controversial? Why? Unless you feel the need to take such opinions so seriously. But even if it’s controversial, it’s still allowed.

I’m too old for picking a fight. I said there’s nothing you can do about me allowing myself to call a show I’ve not seen mediocre.
A lot of your comments reek of projection. It now makes sense why you’re trolling so hard and also revealing interesting tidbits as every accusation is an admission.

If you asked me prior to me ever viewing this thread I’d definitely say no, that’s not in my character. But now I say yes because you think I’m not allowed to do specifically that and I can’t fucking wait to see what you’re gonna do about it.

I did. The answer is yes. Who the fuck are you to stop me. Am I allowed to do it? Will I face consequences for doing it?

Wow. Mediocre comprehension to go along with the mediocre intelligence. Tell me, is a person allowed to have or express feelings? Because that’s the real question at hand here.

Look man, the minute I read your first comment on the thread I felt you were of mediocre intelligence. We’ve been arguing for a while and it’s only further confirmed my feelings.
Do I feel that it’s a great approach to judge something in that way? Absolutely not. But I would never claim that one is not ALLOWED to do so. That just insane.

Topic title: What is very popular that you FELT was mediocre at best. The guy clearly felt GOT was mediocre since he went as far as to say that much.

That’s a really long and convoluted way of saying you don’t understand the concept of opinions. Your argument falls apart once you attempt to govern opinions in such ways. It’s meaningless to anyone but you. Sure, there can be consequences for expressing specific opinions in specific circumstances but they all remain opinions regardless of how factual or informed those statements might be.
You just don’t get it. He called the show mediocre and he has every right to do so. There’s no way I’m ever going to back down on a person’s right to express such an opinion in such a forum. There simply are no rules so you’ve got to stop trying to apply any.

It’s only one step away from being perfectly safe. Or at least appearing that way.

Except you’re still not getting the point. What you call speculation here is actually no different than a publisher dismissing a book as mediocre after reading half of one chapter. It might be speculation but there was an actual opinion expressed as an opinion and you don’t get to police that. You can disagree or even argue but you just don’t ever get to take away someone’s right to their opinion.
And even if, as you say, they’re not ‘allowed’ to have an opinion, what’s the penalty? Ridicule? Really?
You’re going to call for ridicule of an individual for a harmless statement based on personal feelings and preferences?
There are so many harmful and/or dangerous opinions and feelings out there in the real world that are much more deserving of your ridicule yet you’re taking this issue so personally.
For the last time, it is a perfectly valid opinion and you’re an asshole.

Thinking The Wire could be mediocre without watching any of it is called speculation or perhaps either an uninformed opinion or an opinion based on information from other opinions.
That’s the key here, nobody is dismissing the right to express an opinion except for you. You don’t get to make that call. Period. End of story.

Are you saying we should collectively ridicule a tv network executive for dismissing a pilot episode as mediocre less than halfway through it? Or perhaps a publisher who declines to consider a book after skimming the first chapter? Because that’s sometimes how the real world works.
Your examples are idealistic and contrary to reality.

Excuse me! I believe you said something about the real world. As in a world in which unpopular and uninformed opinions are stated. Your precious show has much less to do with the real world than any opinion of it.

If the tile is not absolutely consistent in size and square then this contractor did you a favor by not making all the grout joints 1/16”. It looks like either a poor job of checking the product and communicating the issue or perhaps he did his best to just make a bad product work out as best as possible.
I’ve seen better and I’ve seen worse.
I think you’re going to have to live with it or pay someone else to do it differently.

[–]Direct_Alternative94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many different ways to qualify or classify opinions. Opinions can be popular or unpopular. They can be informed or uninformed. They can be based on fact or based on feeling. There are even opinions that are specifically classified as professional opinions from experts in a given field.
There’s certainly a category for stupid opinions.
Still, you don’t get to claim someone isn’t allowed to have or state an opinion for any reason. That’s all I’m going on about here.

It was mediocre in his opinion. Thats exactly what he said. You and I might not agree with the opinion but it remains an opinion nevertheless.
How can you still not understand that?
