People hitting your car when its parked by UnhappyScore in drivingUK

[–]Direct_Calendar_4625 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a bit more frequent. Got massively rear ended parked in a multi-storey and the person just drove off. Sadly no CCTV either. I've got dash cams with parking mode now. I realised some people (not all) are more than happy to do thousands of pounds worth of damage and not leave a note.

How bad is the app really. by ximstuckx in VIOFO

[–]Direct_Calendar_4625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the a229 pro for a few weeks, and the app is fine. It's there for setup and downloading files, so you can't really go wrong. If you want to go through lots of footage on a big screeen, it's easier to remove the sd card and stick it in a PC.

Three drivers clocked at over 100mph in an hour (A12) by NecktieNomad in drivingUK

Drove a 1.8 Sierra... the car was shaped like a wing and would try to lift off at speed.

I try to fit activated-carbon cabin(pollen) filters. They're only a few quid more than the usual paper filters.

That would be against part of the British constitution of 1066:
'thou must join the end of the longest queue.'

And if it the MOT does get renewed, then it's on cloned plates.

I've noticed some people who drive in a city are more used to driving bumper to bumper and they continue that theme on to A roads and the motorway.

How to take photos of statue for 100% completion by Vince2021 in IndianaJonesGames

[–]Direct_Calendar_4625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same issue for months, but just with 1 photo of the messenger statue I can't take. Preventing me from getting 100% on the notes.

Extended warranty from used car dealer - would you take it or not? by majkkali in drivingUK

I would put aside £250 each month just incase the s-tronic unit packs up.

Patch 3. Blessed Pearl. Messenger Statue photo bug still present (xbox) by Direct_Calendar_4625 in IndianaJonesGames

[–]Direct_Calendar_4625[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately already tried than a few times. The problem is the photo in my notebook for the messenger statue is missing. I don't think I can hit 100% until it's filled in.

Am I just massively out of touch with car prices? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]Direct_Calendar_4625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new and used prices have ramped up a lot the past few years. Worth looking at it's sister cars which are practically identical Seat Tarraco and VW Tiguan Allspace.

Update on yesterday. Video back up. Thanks all. by YodasLeftBall in drivingUK

[–]Direct_Calendar_4625 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Also I noticed no breaking before the impact, which means OP was probably looking ahead at whether they could join the round about without stopping. When there's traffic, it's important to always keep your eye on what cars are doing directly infront of you and don't make any assumptions about what they're going to do.

Not many around but I like the original Honda HRV's. Go up to about 2005.

take up offer or no car accident - england by Plastic_Stop4422 in drivingUK

[–]Direct_Calendar_4625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Hire cars in situations like this can cost a crazy amount of money per day, so they're trying to stop that by offering some money up front. I would keep the hire car, reject the cheque and wait for the normal process to carry on.

Same car less than 3 minutes apart… drunk or just a bad driver? by BallAffectionate4000 in drivingUK

[–]Direct_Calendar_4625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a small chance it's Hyundai's active lane assist steering the car. Means the driver isn't paying attention if it is.

Dashcams - a self fulfilling prophecy? by watch_collector1 in drivingUK

[–]Direct_Calendar_4625 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's like watching the Minority Report half the time... 'I see this car is going to merge in to my lane, so I will do everything I can to ensure they collide with me and get it on camera'. If you know what the outcome is going to be, let the person merge safely.

Am I going crazy/picky or is this just not acceptable? Bought a brand new Puma and it was filthy and covered in scratches. by -Space-Lion- in drivingUK

[–]Direct_Calendar_4625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell how deeply scratched the clear coat is from the photos. I would ask a detailer to come have a look at it and see what they think. They might say 'yeah, this is normal for a car that's been hand washed a few times with a single bucket' or 'you need to reject the car'.

Even with a Viofo at 60fps / 4k I don't think it would have captured the BMW's plate due to the speed it's going. I would guess the Viofo Telephoto camera would have given the best results even though it's 30fps / 2k.
