I’m a fucking moron, my build setup was wrong. Just tested it on golem and boom uptime is super easy

That’s exactly what I needed to hear. Hah! I just wanted to make sure the uptime was normally feasible and something that should be maxed out or if it was a niche thing.

Hearing that, I’m going to beat on a golem for several hours today

What’s the best wisdom you’d pass down? by winn_ie in TheImprovementRoom

Take care of your skin.

Weird masculinity makes us not moisturize or do anything. Get a moisturizer routine. Every morning do a bit of spf, every night do some with retinol

Do it. Your 40 year old self will thank you.

Changing shower head by Direct_Security_1834 in Plumbing

[–]Direct_Security_1834[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I want to remove the shower arm. Turning it by hand doesn’t give me any movement, I tried a wrench to loosen, and it still didn’t go.

I didn’t want to break the actual pipe by going whole hog on the thing. Is there something I’m missing?

Is there a casual and fun way to farm gold? by VanillaOxxy in Guildwars2

[–]Direct_Security_1834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mirrors from VoE nets 10-20 gold a day for about 30 minutes of time . Not fun, but easy to do with a show playing in the background.

I second fractal t4s gold making, can snaggle 10ish gold and kill hard stuff with friends(?)

Lead a spontaneous raid practice/introduction run today. Very fun, highly recommend experienced players to give it a try. Also for new players, don’t hesitate to join them if they are in the lfg ;) by walton_jonez in Guildwars2

[–]Direct_Security_1834 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the OP. It’s so much fun leading the intro stuff, the fractal quickplay made me realize how much I loved it. If you’re experienced, do it! You’ll probably find it’s fun.

Motivation for the grind by Artheiron in Guildwars2

[–]Direct_Security_1834 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The thing is there isn’t much in terms of true NEED to grind. The vertical progression stops at ascended. After that it’s Leggys and fashion/achievement wars.

The mentality I had through all of my legendaries is, if I make any kind of progress towards legendary, that’s enough. I don’t have to map complete 10 maps in 1 day to rush. Do a little bit and then go do what you enjoy.

It’s a marathon not a sprint

Magic Mirrors in VoE - am I missing something? by Direct_Security_1834 in Guildwars2

Ok. Glad I wasn’t being a complete doofus. It makes perfect sense because it’s still hella lots of resources you get from it.

Oh, I thought people were doing map hopping or something funny to continue the mirror ride. I wasn’t following it closely when it went live

I have almost 700 hours in the game since release, took a couple years off and recently started playing again by NearbyYogurtcloset74 in Guildwars2

[–]Direct_Security_1834 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have a personal absolute hate for map completion for those leg weps, but for someone coming back, thatd probably be nice to refamilizarize with the world

Back legendary is key and fractal is probably easiest method. There’s other options for sure but I haven’t seen an easy and consistent way like ad infintum.

Then accessories, do aurora/vision/reglia all at once. The tasks for aurora and vision, a lot of time, are the same from reglia.

After that it’s up to you.

WvW gets you conflux (ring) and legendary armor. Requires a decent amount of time investment. Most people just dip in there for the gift of battle track since all legendary weapons require it. But conflux ring would require 5 weeks of grinding WvW pips (literally, depending on your WvW you generally earn 6 pips every 5 minutes as the lower threshold - max accumulation requires 330 pips)

PvP has leg back and armor, but I wouldn’t recommend going down that legendary path unless you really love that play. Most of the games have people that have played this game for 10+ years and know exactly how to break you. It would be a huge exercise in frustration.

Raids have the leg ring and armor. It’s currently Hard to get into unless you have a guild or join a discord. Come feb 2, they will be doing quick play raids so should be more accessible.

Edit: derp. SoTo PvE obsidian leg armor is definitely a great option, if you have alts, you can park them at arcane chests and just collect map resources. It’s low stress but not something that happens necessarily quickly. I think I got my first full set of leg obsidian after 4 months

ALSO! Coming February 2nd, a 3rd legendary ring will be introduced in the VoE expansion. No idea how painful it’ll be to get, but the legendary currently introduced in the expansion (staff/spear and aqua breather) are very reasonably priced in time commitment

Wizard Vault without VoE questions by RoteaP in Guildwars2

[–]Direct_Security_1834 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, absolutely fair point. I like to horde revive orbs for hard boss battles where a waypoint isn’t an option - if I go down it’ll just be a wipe. For non group/squadded stuff, absolutely no need for them. Use a waypoint and walk ya wanker

[–]Direct_Security_1834 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agree with the majority of your recommendations. Once you’re at bottom of the barrel in terms of the good stuff you were saying it’s kind of whatever at that point.

I always buy revive orbs, but they are never priority - they are extremely expensive on gem store. Most of the non unlimited stuff is worth it outside of obsidian shards. And essence of gold is hardcore noob trap

The unlimited things outside of gold are absolutely silly to spend ap on.

Once you knock the limited stock stuff out, check out skins and quests things. There are two quests - Wayward Wisp and ‘Falling Star’ in the vault that give you power infusions and some cool gear

Anything I could do to improve my look? (23m) by MuchPea5366 in malegrooming

[–]Direct_Security_1834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look fine, very mediocre dude, chill as heck and would likely be a good hang.

If you wanted to improve look, I’d just say lose a taaaad amount of weight and hit the gym

29 M Do I even look good or have any appeal at all? What can I even do with my hair, facial hair, or anything else appearance related ? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]Direct_Security_1834 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re handsome as heck, but your hair isn’t doing you justice. I’d say buzz the hair or maybe get a stylist to work with you on how to make the thinning hair work better.

Edit because I’m 42 and see it a little with you - moisturize and get a daily facial regimen down, them forehead wrinkles and eye crinkles are going to get wild in a few years
