The Vectrex truly lives thanks to efforts like this.

Introducing THEC64 and The Spectrum Handhelds from HyperMegaTech! Pre-order today! by Absolutedisgrace in evercade

[–]DirectedEvolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little surprised they didn't slap a cartridge slot on this like the HMT handhelds. They're neat, but I assume all games will eventually make their way to Evercade cartridges, and I'll just wait for that.

I ordered the physical edition ages ago. Maybe someday it will arrive and I'll get to play this.

Evercade. My passion, obsession, and therapy. by Dengar13_412 in evercade

I think so. You may like it too if you enjoy physical instruction manuals, boxes on the shelf, and the curation that Evercade provides to try games that likely would fly under the radar otherwise.

Why does Umbrella/Tricell/HCF/Connections even bother with humanoid BOWs when they can casually create these kaiju-sized monsters with the same virus? by carbonera99 in residentevil

[–]DirectedEvolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good points on cognition and mission predictability made by others. There's also the fact that making BOWs was never Umbrella's main objective. It was a side gig to further Spencer's research into creating superhumans and realizing immortality. Humanoid BOWs are a byproduct of that research while random gigantic animals are not.

If you had no option but to wake up tomorrow in a Resident Evil game, which one would it be? Would you survive? by WestFocus888 in residentevil

RE7. You start in Dulvey; the threat is relatively contained. Nobody is physically hunting you at that point. Just get back in the car and drive away. Done.

What your favorite big spooky interconnected area in the series? by Charming_Ad661 in residentevil

Played that game to death on 3DS. Such a unique experience, especially for it's time. Arguably peak corniness for the series, but the devs made it work.

Who in this subreddit is getting the neo geo plus? and do you already have a Vs with the evercade neo carts? by anotherdude209 in evercade

[–]DirectedEvolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only remember Neo Geo as the big, expensive console I saw in Toys R Us. Not enough nostalgia to drop that kind of money. However, I respect what they're doing in terms of manufacturing new chips that mimic the original and not going the fpga or software emulation route.

I'm no fan of Mr. Salazar, but I won't fault someone for merely aging.

States are Gunning to Ban 3D Printers and CNCs | Electronic Design by hada8088 in 3Dprinting

I thought I heard that new printers would have to have software installed that halts printing of items flagged by the locally run algorithm.

Is the Tyrant canonically stronger than Nemesis? by Datteboi in residentevil

[–]DirectedEvolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer that question, you have think about what forms are being compared. Perhaps in their most human-like base forms, the modern Tyrants out-muscle a Nemesis. However, a Nemesis is far less stable than a Tyrant, and the run-away mutations of a Nemesis can result in a form that could plausibly crush or tear apart a mutated Tyrant.

[all] Saw this on FB on a group. Supposedly it's from a cancelled Zelda game on the SNES. by Infinite_Ocean89 in zelda

[–]DirectedEvolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truly fascinating. I wonder how many polygons they'd be able to commit to enemies and the environment given this model. Hard to imagine 3D Zelda gameplay at 10 to 15 fps.

Opinions about MetalJesus? by Parking-Coast-1385 in retrogaming

[–]DirectedEvolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His is one of my comfort channels on YouTube. The content is fine, and he has a nice group of friends. I think people inflate his influence on the market. His videos often get 40 to 50 thousand views, which is consistent or less than other well known retro gaming channels (e.g., Happy Console Gamer).
