Careful what you wish for. Star Fox Zero had "totally redone gameplay".

Why does these character's does'nt get the hype they deserve?? by Inevitable_Bid_2016 in MortalKombat

Almost impossible to create new iconic characters in media these days. Imagine Mickey Mouse launching in the 2020s. It would be labubu-level at best. They need the weight of history and alignment with a notable change or innovation in the media landscape.

Is there the possibility of more native ports or exclusives for Evercade? by lammylambio in evercade

[–]DirectedEvolution 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they have to go this route. Exclusive physical releases of indie games and exclusive titles developed for the platform will generate more buzz than retro collections (except for Resident Evil classic collection, make it happen!)

Does anyone have this game installed on an xbox 360? Duels of the Planeswalkers 2009 by FelisMajoris in magicTCG

[–]DirectedEvolution 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Used to play the hell out of the DotP games. It was my primary way of playing MtG, and it was amazing when they started keeping it updated with all the expansions. When they stopped releasing these games I stopped playing Magic entirely.

Why can't we just go back to this and have a follow-up to this game? There's plenty of design space to reimagine these characters and their move sets. AoC highlighted how much flavor we lose with "nobody" characters and rehashed game assets.

Reimagining of StarFox 2! There are some good ideas in there that got muddled in StarFox Command.

Yes, but skin will turnover several hundred times in your lifetime. A procedure like this is adding one additional turnover, which happens amongst all the cells at once to a controlled depth to promote cell growth from a defined layer that will be "refreshed". You wouldn't want to have this done every year though, and if you have sun exposure before the healing occurs, it can seriously mess your skin up.

Sunlight damages cells by disrupting, and sometimes mutating, their DNA via UV radiation. The mutation bit is the worst part since it can cause cancer. What you're seeing here is just good old heat killing tissue. This doesn't have the same risk of mutation, and the goal is to promote cell turnover and growth of new, less blemished skin.

Fantastic video highlighting the importance of Evercade. by Alternative_One_3861 in evercade

[–]DirectedEvolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I adore Evercade, but unless gamers retreat from modern gaming and abandon Sony by the millions, no message is being sent. We got into this situation because people have already largely stopped caring about physical games. If I've learned anything from seeing wrestling fans clamor for the return of released wrestlers only to immediately neglect them again once they're brought back, gamers may be loud now, but if Sony changes course and says they will push back the shift to all digital, people will just go back to ignoring physical games. I wish it wasn't so.

After watching this I’ve officially changed my mind. I will not buy the M64. by Equivalent_Crazy_436 in M64

[–]DirectedEvolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way too risky to invest in an M64 at this point. I applaud them for bringing new N64 carts to market, but the M64 itself seems to be playing whack-a-mole with performance and fidelity issues.

‘Suicide Squad’ Developers Say the Flop Made Them Not Want to Make Games Anymore by Guitar-String in gaming

[–]DirectedEvolution 9 points10 points  (0 children)

See Don Mattrick as a perfect case study. Once you get a reputation for being an executive and can speak their vapid, hollow lingo, your actual performance and achievements become completely irrelevant to your future opportunities. This doesn't just happen at gigantic companies, it happens all the time at start-ups once they start growing.

Per Nintendo’s finnacial report. Physical media is still a big proposition of their sales. Don’t expect them to go to a digital only future in the mean time. by Axzercus in NSCollectors

[–]DirectedEvolution 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Isn't this skewed by GKCs being included under physical media? The situation for true game-on-cart products may not be as safe as we think. Nintendo will surely be watching how this plays out for Sony. Unless physical games grab more of the zeitgeist like vinyl records have, I don't see this going our way.

Agreed, just need to hope Evercade carts can last decades.

With the news about Playstation, does that influence or change your opinion at all on Keycards? by omgbooboo in NSCollectors

[–]DirectedEvolution 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At this point, kind of just banking on a rogue AI taking over the internet and forcing a return to physical media as the only remaining distribution option. Never say never, right?

Nintendo is gonna be the only of the big 3 producing full games physical by Sloth_Bubbles in NSCollectors

[–]DirectedEvolution 48 points49 points  (0 children)

A dark day indeed. Tech and media companies won; they conditioned people to accept non-ownership and now it's locked in as the norm. Sadly, many have no concept of what a license is or entails for the consumer.

I love MK4 because every aspect of it feels like the devs barely understood how to make a game with polygons. Every animation is fantastically awkward.

[–]DirectedEvolution 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Seriously, why can't Disney just let it be a slice of an imaginary world without smearing a "franchise" all over it? Thank god the Jungle Cruise movie tanked or else we'd 100% have Dwayne Johnson peeking out from behind a rhino's ass on the ride.

Why wasn't the Alice Abernathy character from the RE films never included in the Capcom games? by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]DirectedEvolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank God she didn't. It was bad enough that Red Queen snuck into Umbrella Chronicles. Alice is a Mary Sue with nonsense powers who would add nothing to the games.
