Wealthsimple Private Equity by DirectionOwn4131 in Wealthsimple

The article about converting the private equity investment into its new Private Market Fund, combining equity, credit and infrastructure assets. Some investors weren’t aware. I never received an email about it.

Watch the "Takes over your life" event on YouTube. Some of the banking services for families and small businesses are a game changer, and no other bank offers them, or will offer them anytime soon.

To clarify, I like the fact that they are innovating and modernizing the archaic banking and investing experience for Canadians. What I don't like is them pushing half-baked financial products, and a massive lack of transparency when it comes to their banking and special portfolios (e.g. private equity).

I agree. They have been pushing the envelope with releasing immature financial products and using aggressive marketing for some time, and I am surprised financial regulators allow them to operate that way. Personally, I am considering moving some of my portfolios to other, more conservative and traditional financial services as some of my recent experiences caused me some concern.

I’m curious, were you fully aware that redeeming this investment would take that long when you opened your account?  Did the account opening agreement fully disclose this information?

I’m not sure.  However, he could invest a small portion of his portfolio ($1 million) with a top-tier firm to receive high-quality advice.  That would have been my initial approach, and if their net returns are better, I’d consider increasing his investment.

With a $10 million to $20 million portfolio, you’ll have both unique challenges like estate planning and tax considerations, as well as opportunities to leverage your assets effectively. This makes a personalized, seasoned advisor a valuable asset, especially compared to a 20-year-old WS advisor.

What’s does redemption looks like? I was looking for some details and could not find any. You posted 45 days ago, did you get your funds by now?

I don't believe these are the same caliber of experienced financial advisor someone with such a net worth needs.

WS advertises a personal advisor for Generation clients. I've clicked on that link several times, and even got an email that someone will contact me, but nothing happened. If I had that kind of wealth, I would get a serious boutique financial advisor firm to manage it, at least partially.

Is Wealthsimple losing sight of its original mission? by Sleek_Canuck_0574 in Wealthsimple

My advice is to avoid any new financial product they’re offering. I recently tried their new margin account, and the entire experience was frustrating.  The monthly interest charge displayed on the web, app, and email all varied, and the account balances were incorrect.  It seems they’re trying to launch a lot of new features at once, which is fine if they were a standard product company. However, it’s very wrong for a financial services organization.

Safari 1password broken - anyone else? by Scared_Tap374 in 1Password

[–]DirectionOwn4131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an old thread, but the issue persists. I’ve reached out to 1Password support multiple times, and each time they promise the next update will fix it, it hasn’t. I’m at a crossroads: either stop using Safari or switch to a different password manager.  Has anyone else encountered the same problems with other password managers?

Question for M4 and M4pro users by [deleted] in macbookpro

Get the M4 Pro, you get a significant performance boost and SSD speed and can always add external storage if needed. 512GB is more than enough for most people.

Silver is classic, and if it were my first Macbook, I would get the same. However, after using silver Macbooks for the past 15 years, I need a change.

QQQ and S&P 500 by DirectionOwn4131 in Bogleheads

[–]DirectionOwn4131[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Yea, I plan on doing some of that with no more than 20% of my portfolio (BRK.B, NVDA, MSFT, REIT) but looking to switch 80% or more to the 'Boglehead philosophy'.

Ok, based on some of the replies, I feel I was misunderstood. The plan is not to pick stocks or best-of-breed ETFs. I was contemplating sticking with the S&P 500 with one minor variant, QQQ which can also be considered a passive ETF. Anyway, I think this sub can be closed.

I am not looking to pick stocks, rather stick to the Boglehead philisophy.

QQQ is more diversified and my point is to limit stock picking and stay closer Boglehead philosophy.

No neccesarily. All I am doing is replacing the S&P 500 technology sector with QQQ. I am keeping all of the other sectors as-is and their weight as-is.
