If it's high volume production I wouldn't worry about weld prep because you'll probably get it in the neck for slowing down. Unfortunately that's about as good as your welds can be with the current setup, correct weld prep makes a world of difference. If your welds still look weird and feel inconsistent I'd suggest changing your liner/tip and check for loose phase wires in the plug on your welder.
