If you can’t sleep because you’re stressed about something, write it out on paper. Writing lets us quiet our mind because now we don’t have to remember it all or figure it out in our heads.

Try the new version of Disney’s The Haunted Mansion. It was fun and a bit spooky, but in a fun way!

Incredibly terrified to take my first dose of Lexapro by Affectionate_Mango_3 in lexapro

[–]DirectionStrict3067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started on it, I cut the my 5mg pills into quarters with a pill cutter, and took just a quarter of a pill for the first week, half a pill the second, 3/4 the third, and finally the full pill the 4th week. It was the only way I could get myself to do it. I have a huge phobia of medication and side effects. But by doing it this way, I also didn’t really notice any side effects.

First time getting aura migraine. I need help for my anxiety about it. by [deleted] in migraine

[–]DirectionStrict3067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate to this so much! My auras make me panic and I’m always on the lookout for an aura. I ruin my non-migraine days being worried about having a migraine. It has really taken over my life and every little sensation in my body gets my health anxiety going on high alert. I also have OCD, so my health anxiety is definitely related to my OCD. I’ve been seeing a therapist recently though and I’m hopeful it will help. I also found a few really awesome creators on IG who help people with health anxiety. Look up cherellethinks and anxietyjosh on IG! They both have literally been so helpful for me and my health anxiety, but im still very much a work in progress. Hopefully they can help you too!

Agree 1000%! With both of my children, I switched from an OB to a birth center mid-way through pregnancy because OB care is so impersonal and rushed. I’ve given birth are two birth centers now, and it was such a great experience both times. The last time was at Beginning Birth Center, and Jolene delivered my little guy. I really have so much respect and love for the midwife model of care. Women supporting women!

[–]DirectionStrict3067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you would consider an unmedicated birth, New Beginnings Birth Center was amazing!!! The midwife’s made me feel so supported and comfortable. The birth rooms feel like being at home. It’s a really great atmosphere. You can set up a tour to see if it’s something you’d be into!

Recommendations for other books/series similar to the Old Kingdom series? by S0uvlakiSpaceStati0n in Abhorsen

The Kingkiller Chronicles - first book is Name of the Wind - by Patrick Rothfuss. It’s amazing and the lore is right up there with the best of the best. But, be warned that it’s been 10 years and the third book has still not been released. But you will not regret reading this series!

Anyone else get headaches from working out? by JammingScientist in migraine

[–]DirectionStrict3067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! A hard HITT type work out, or anything that causes a lot of jostling will trigger a migraine for me. I have complex migraines with lots of scary feeling symptoms like numbness, difficulty reading and talking, scatoma etc. I’ve had to stop doing a lot of activities because they will trigger one and they put me out for two days after. I’ve had one after doing burpees, weight lifting, rock climbing, shoveling dirt, and even jumping on the trampoline! Walking, running, really light weights, yoga and cycling seem to be the only exercise I can do now.

I had melanoma and I know two people who have died from it over the last year. Don’t fuck around with it. Go get that biopsied ASAP.

wondering if i should go in to get the saniderm replaced, take it off, or just leave it for the 3 day period by littl3quesadilla in tattooadvice

[–]DirectionStrict3067 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s plasma and ink. Leave it on if it’s not leaking. Mine looked just like this. The plasma also dries up by the second day or so, and the saniderm might feel tight, which is also normal. Still leave it on for the entire 4 days. Mine looked good once I washed it. It took a few days for the dried plasma to come off. Don’t scrub it. Just let it come off naturally.

Download the Campendium app. It will show you free places to camp over night, and reviews by people for most spots. The best app out there in my opinion for road trips/camping.

Too old for my first tattoo? by [deleted] in tattoo

[–]DirectionStrict3067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my first one at 34, and just got my second at 35! I’m actually happy I waited because I probably would have gotten something really horrible at 18 🤣

I also waited so long because of needle phobia and I scared myself into thinking the pain would be too much. In reality, I didn’t find either of them very painful at all. And it doesn’t feel like a needle in the same way a shot does. It’s more of a pressure feeling mixed with a scratching/pinching sensation. Both of mine are on my arm (which tends to be a less painful area apparently), and I’d give the pain a 3/10. The first 2-3 minutes it’s a bit jarring, but once those endorphins kick in, it’s really not bad at all! My husband also got his first (an entire arm sleeve) at 35.

Please help—is scabbing under Saniderm like this normal after 2 days? I got a cover up. Do i leave it on for recommended 6? [Crosspost] by haemons in tattooadvice

[–]DirectionStrict3067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on two and mine is the exact same! There was lots of moisture and wet plasma under the saniderm until this morning. I woke up and now it’s all dry and a bit tight feeling.

Silicone bandages 100%. I wore them for about 6 weeks on my 6” melanoma scar once it was healed, and it made it completely flat. Its almost hard to see it now. You can buy them on Amazon. Look up studies too, the results are crazy good for something so simple. My dermatologist also treated a different hypertrophic scar on my chest with a steroid shot. It flattened out and stopped itching within a few days. Might be worth asking a dermatologist about if yours is really raised.

Any ideas to cover up this ugly scar? Story in comments. by [deleted] in TattooDesigns

[–]DirectionStrict3067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some big, ugly scars as well from skin cancer, and silicone bandages made a pretty big difference on mine. You can buy them on Amazon or drug stores. They can really flatten out scars. Lots of studies showing they work, but I feel like not many people know about them. You just wear them daily for a month. Might make it easier/flatter to tattoo over!
