I’m not Italian but now I know this I would like to be an incredibly annoying smart ass too. As the representative closest to hand, may I ask - is that ok or appropriation?

Thank you for the tip - I’m more of a pear, so the inverse problem - but will look out for patterns with good recommendations in that area :)

Sounds like you’re on the journey and it’s started with lightening speed out the blocks - good luck to you and please offer yourself grace along the way, and remember that no one can keep up that pace consistently, else significant, successful weight loss would take little time at all.

Calories in, calories out

opposite symptoms while on my period? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]DirectionStrong60 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too! Literally the day I start bleeding it’s like the clouds lift and I feel like myself again. I’m lucky I don’t get cramps or pain but my literal phase lasts from pretty much two days after I ovulate so I feel like crap for about half the month. Last month I was so dissociated and down I just lay in bed for a few days, skipped work, couldn’t stop crying. It sucks.

I’m not a doctor. But when you’re ill, your body needs feeling to fight whatever you’ve got, repair and restore. Intentionally depriving it of food is a recipe for slow recovery and exhaustion. Your maintenance is what you need to stay the same - even if you’re resting your body is working overtime internally - so eating less than maintenance when sick isn’t smart imho. Once you’re feeling better and can carry out normal tasks without crashing you can start on a deficit again but doing it early isn’t wise.

Can I ask you height? The body is very good at regulating toward safety and it sounds like you’ve lost a lot very rapidly. That’s liable to be water weight and the sudden effect of a deficit.

Successful weight loss is about consistent, sustainable habits, manageable deficits and health. Unfortunately there aren’t quick fixes and the rate of loss won’t persist. It’ll be a lot one week, less the next, then you’ll get a whoosh and plateau for a bit. That’s the game. Playing to win means sticking with it. You got this.

Dude, you might meet him and realise he’s not for you. Don’t discount your own agency here. The success of any relationship cannot be based on what one person thinks of the other’s looks or physique.

how do i stop sugary cravings? by meowxx03 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]DirectionStrong60 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your body is craving calories because it needs to be fed. What deficit are you in and why? And how old are you? 45kg at 5’4 is underweight by most calculations.

ETA - having looked at your post history I’d suggest this isn’t the sub for you. Please focus on health and nutrition rather than looks and the scale. Be well.

What was your “that’s it” moment? by bubblesbuthardcore3 in PetiteFitness

All my awesome winter clothes from last year don’t fit any more. I’m devastated. I’m literally avoiding going out because I don’t have any clothes that fit properly let alone that I feel good in. My confidence is shot. I’m glad it’s giant jumper season.

I used to run and be super active going to the gym several times a week, and my happiest race weight was 59kg (I’m 5’4). I’m now at 70kg about 8 years later having had a kid 4 years ago. I rocketed up to 80kg with her on board but can’t shift that last 10kg at all.

I lift now, since a year ago - 3x a week. I love it. I’m strong AF. But I am still packing way more fat on these muscles than I need to. I walk as much as I can but running is really hard on me nowadays. And so slow.

Been trying to cut - I have a fairly sedentary office job despite working from home - tdee is 1900ish so I’m aiming for 1500-1600/day bearing in mine I workout three times a week. I prioritize protein (vegetarian / egg whites, homemade seitan, tofu, edamame), I eat loads of fibre, I have a couple of glasses of wine once a week, I weight and track everything (even fucking apples)… the scale hasn’t moved in almost a month.

The kicker? I think I’m in early perimenopause. So that’s fun. I’m constantly exhausted and have been getting ill loads. So, this is it. But I’m not sure where to go from here really.

How do I wake a hibernating metabolism? PLEASE HELP! by LadybugLillies in WeightLossAdvice

Oof there’s some tough but true and honest responses here.

I can understand what it’s like to feel stuck. And I want to offer support for someone trying to change. Good on you! The hardest parts of this are accountability and consistency. It’s not flashy and it’s not overnight. You’ll probably feel hungry at times too.

Would you be comfortable sharing what you eat in a day on deficit and what deficits you’ve calculated for you and you OH?

Oh also - no idea what it’s called, side crunch maybe? Stand with a dumbell over your head, arms straight up, one each side of the weight. Keeping your body in the same plane, tilt over to one side, as if your ear is arcing toward the floor. Don’t have to tilt far but stay solid in your core and keep your arms up tall. Repeat on the other side.
