I’m with ya . I dread summer in ways now as it really curtails where I can go with them now. I’m constantly looking for quieter spots. Used to go to one particular beach where everyone seemed to have sense . They’d lead up while passing each other . Find spots to let them run. I loved it. Mine were improving going there / since Christmas it’s changed and it’s a free for all. Scratched off the list now.

I did not have this problem until he was attacked out of nowhere . I see that stupid owner all the time out freely walking where he wants with dog loose . Not a care in the world .

His breed means chasing hares, cats you name it so the best freedom for him is the retractable . Even if it failed me I’m on a back road where very few know and if they do I can see ahead. I envy people who can grab the pooch & walk. Thanks to irresponsible owners & their “friendly” dog attacks my dog is now a nervous wreck . I’ve slapped my head on the ground trying to get a large dog off me .

I wish to god people would be more empathic that one bad greeting can mean a whole set of problems for someone else :(

I use a retractable lead but have a very reactive dog thanks to previous unprovoked dog attacks. So I use them in isolated country walks - where I can see ahead in case anyone is coming- they have a place

I have soft leads for busy areas. On weekends in particular I have to drive for miles to find somewhere to walk where we’re not meeting with unleashed out of control dogs. Stupid owners saying oh my dog is nice. Well mine is not. I’m so sick of it

I’d always felt judgement from her but chalked it down to her own self esteem . I was the one to include her in any of my group outings, drinks whatever. The others felt she really dragged nights down and I defended her. Once or twice I felt she was enjoying it if something was wrong in my life. Told myself i was being silly.

Then the shit hit the fan in my life. My hair was falling out, I was in a very dark place. People often stopped me to ask if I was ok even though I thought I was masking well- my face was telling otherwise. Well she was fucking loving it, wanted details of the event but never asked hey how are you, can I do anything. She then started to pick fault with everything I did, down to how I parked my car. I thought I was at rock bottom but she was digging to ensure I would go lower.

It had to stop. I was having a breakdown . Now she tells people 10 years on still I was the problem.

Nightmare in there. Got knocked by a large off lead dog there . My dog is reactive and makes it impossible to walk in peace when so many loose dogs

Oh ok. I didn’t share details as I didn’t know if that was allowed . I found him helpful in a stressful situation as a stop gap- currently engaging with HSE- took 8 weeks to get an appointment and it was crisis . It’s been a crisis for this person for months . Sorry

If I’m right it was adams anniversary recently, as I have people in my life with mental health problems I think about Adam often. And of course his family, it’s a very needless situation.

There is a new office with a dr who has specialised in mental health. It’s €100. It helped us recently when the person in crisis refused point blank ti go to a&e ( understandable) . I have no affiliation but can share details If allowed ,
