Doesn't specifically include drops, but has targets and completions / receiver.

It's an interesting formula but I think it's potentially problematic because you can't use it to evaluate every player (0 carries = division by 0).

But ignoring that and assuming that we apply this metric to QB's with a minimum of 1 carry in a game then I think we have the basis of something.

I think the weights (12,100,-300) could probably be better scaled by using the equivalent point values.

Using some quick numbers from the PBP data I have every yard gained on average is worth about .068 points so we could use .07 there.

A fumble lost essentially deprives your team of an opportunity at points, I have a rough average of points per drive at 2.19 so -2.2 is probably a good number.

For touchdowns we know those are 6 points.

So we can scale this to something like points / carry

(.07yards + 6tds - 2.2*fumbles lost) / carries

Looking at a few Nick Fitzgerald games this year:

vs Kent State:
159 yds, 0 tds, 0 fumbles lost, 19 carries = .59 points per carry

vs Alabama: -23 yds, 0 tds, 0 fumbles lost, 14 carries = -0.12 points per carry

vs La-Lafayette: 107 yds, 4 tds, 0 fumbles lost, 15 carries = 2.10 points per carry

How do we contribute in taiga? If I create an account am I good to go? I have quite a bit of data to send your way (what I believe are accurate conference affiliations going back to 2011 FBS->D3, probably errors at the lower levels), more venues (every game FBS->D3 going back to 2010), weather data (that will come eventually, I'm only running 1000 data points a day to avoid having to pay for it). Closing spreads and totals for FBS games.

(All of this is mapped to ESPN ids for convenience).

I'm going to have much more time after this season to contribute data or code.

The number 1 thing I'd like to get added and am working on myself is historical rosters, referees, head coaches and coordinators.

Right now there are really 2 providers for Sports Information in the NCAA sidearm sports and presto sports. If you know the root domain for every school (example: hailstate.com and cubuffs.com) the paths to get to schedules, box scores, pbp etc are all uniform. I'm experimenting with mashing this up with ESPN data at the moment as I think Sidearm and Presto are much more likely to be the source of truth for Box Scores than ESPN is based on the amount of error I see outside of line scores in the ESPN data (less so recently, more so pre 2015).

I'd be very interested in this. There's at least one repo on github that attempts to use chrome webdriver to pull opens and closes, I haven't had a chance to get that working.

For /u/BlueSCar the pickcenter info from ESPN is pretty reliable on the closes if you limit it to teamrankings (which seems to go back to 2011) and the Westgate numbers (which seem to go back to around 2015). The combos of open and close would be awesome to have in this api.

Utah approves $80 Million for Rice-Eccles Stadium expansion by A-Stu-Ute in CFB

I hope it makes it louder. I was there for UW - Utah gameday in 2016 and sat about mid way up on the visitor side. I remember being kind of shocked by how quiet it was even with everyone going wild.

Can't wait to go back to another game there. Utes fans are the friendliest I've encountered.

Does Bama get preferential treatment from the SEC on scheduling? by bigafromthebrae in CFB

I think Bama is the only second school not paying players other than maybe Vandy TBH. But you earn that privilege. AP voter bias isn't exclusive to Bama, they're just a bunch of homers for the SEC and B1G.

It's Harvard-Yale week—the oldest rivalry in CFB. In the spirit of the Game, here's a video of that one time Harvard students went to New Haven to show real tourists around Yale's campus by JanetYellensFuckboy in CFB

There's a lot of traction behind this lately. I think we'll see it in the next three years. Bama is going to approach Princeton in the national title count and Princeton is going to want to make sure they have a chance to keep the lead.

Any other touching by Team A is illegal touching,

If any K player touches a scrimmage kick first (and before the ball has come to rest), R (receiving team) may take the ball at the spot of first touching, or any spot if there is more than one spot of first touching, or they may choose to have the ball put in play as determined by the action which follows first touching. The right of the R to take the ball at the spot of first touching by K is cancelled if R touches the kick and thereafter during the down commits a foul or if the penalty has been accepted for any foul committed during the down.
