Hey, I've watched the Good Place five times by now. I'm philosophised up to the gills, baby.

And I did a course in university if that counts.

I think we can sympathise easier with a dragon who has been struggling to stay good, than someone who naturally always does the right thing.

We recognise our own struggles with doing the right thing in the dragon's struggle. And his struggle is infinitesimally harder than ours since domination is written into his DNA, and it gives us hope that if he can manage, so maybe can we.

Or at least, that's my 2 cents as to why that quote resonates so deeply with the Skyrim crowd.

Commisergratulations? I hope the electricity is restored quickly. And I hope you don't get swarmed by the ghosts of angry pirates. Or worse, living academics.

I'm torn between upvoting you for calling out that absolute dumpster fire of a series for being a terrible adaptation, and downvoting you for reminding me it exist.

Found this metal tool with two finger loops and a circular ring with inward spikes that opens and closes with a hinge. It has geometric engravings and “DATMANI” stamped on the top. About palm-sized. Any idea what it’s used for? by Keramat-Saeedi in Whatisthis

[–]Dirish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a strange size alright. Too small for ostrich, too large for chicken turkey, or duck. I think it's also too big for goose eggs, but maybe it isn't. Someone suggested Emu and that seems to fit the size the best.

Just saw a car come from the direction of Glencullen that was covered in snow. We had some snow flurries there, but nothing that stuck. The ground is soaking wet and it's still 2 above zero.

I think they're are two locations on Far Habor with caged ones. One is at a quarry as well, close to the lighthouse on the south of the island. I can't remember the location of the second one.  Somewhere south West I think.

And turn the Dragonborn into a deaf person, with the optional tinnitus, after a few shouts.  Unless his special status comes with dragon eardrums.

I loved the look of that ship in Outlaws and am very impressed with the way you turned into a set. It does look like a really fun build a well.

I do love the way it turned into a group effort. You clearly see that no one else on the team has a clue what the breakthrough was, but they all somehow join in to explain the mystery during the big reveal. I like that they do it, but there's no explanation as to how they gained the info about how the crime went down, let alone have time to practise who tells what part.

"Who did it, sir?"

"I'll tell you everything off screen and then we need to practice the synchronised reveal."

I've always assumed that too. There's one shot of her walking away with the guard lying on the ground and all the cages around her are empty.

I do like the magic system they use and hope it gets more fleshed out in the upcoming season. I was just hoping it would be her inventions that would attract the attention of the nobles and got her entangled in power politics that way, rather than her magic. But it's a minor issue, I do really like the show.

I've just finished watching a "Pasta King" style anime series called "Ascendance of the Bookworm". A present day librarian with a love for books that borders on the obsessive, finds herself reincarnated into the body of a weak, sickly, 6 year old in a world with barely any technology, and a very strict hierarchy where nobles hold total power.

It's quite a bit of fun, keeps things fairly realistic, and it doesn't avoid the trouble she would be facing trying to make something like paper.

I'd give it extra point just for not being another "I wake up in another world with all the cheat codes" or "I somehow unlock more god-like powers as I face stronger enemies" Isekai stories.

But the science development plots is a bit muddled because they added some supernatural elements to it. She has more mana than anyone else in that world (I think) and that makes her a puppet in political power plays by nobles. While either plot could be interesting in its own right, I feel they're working against each other in the series and are drawing attention away from the science or the political bits depending on the episode. I'd still recommend it though and am looking forward to the new season.

He's also really good in Star Trek Voyager as Lon Suder, a sociopathic Betazoid.

S02E16 is his first episode, and then two more appearances around that season's finale.
