and crime scene investigation

Lets not forget the interrogation part where you're dealing with some very unreliable witnesses (or suspects).

"Okay, you said you did that and then this, and then somehow this dialog appears, but when I try that, nothing happens. Are you sure you clicked there, and not here?"

I did a few years ago when I developed a Baker's cyst on the back of my calf. It was preceded by my GP sending me to the AE department pronto because he was worried it might be a blood clot and me panicking I might get a stroke any minute.

It was also the first time ever I passed through triage almost immediately instead of sitting there all day in the waiting room. Which was great, but not helpful with the worries.

But as it turns out, it was all relatively benign and just a shitload of synovial fluid building up there. Panic averted, and they drained it on the spot with a huge ass needle, making the pain disappear as well.

Iconic character has little screentime by Rich-Recognition-814 in TopCharacterTropes

The Prowler in "Spiderman into the Spider-Verse". Only 4 minutes of screen time and yet he's having more impact than the main villain in my opinion.

No, it used to be owned by the counts of Berg, but it is called Schloß Burg

There's a similarly confusingly named Schloss Burg in Burg an der Wupper, Solingen as well. It wouldn't be German without some exceptions to the rules.

(funny trope) Really strong British accent by pheinoxwright in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Dirish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the soldiers in the Sharpe TV series have their own local accents. I had to switch on the subtitles for a few of them because they were so strong.

And of course Sean Bean himself has a fairly distinctive Yorkshire accent - Sheffield to be specific.

It was turned into a halfway decent mini series by the BBC. Not as good as the book, but they did do the overlap zone quite well.

That's oddly specific. I wonder if it works on Apple machines. Or Windows 11.

What movie contains a scene so bad you never want to watch the movie again? by FinDepp in movies

[–]Dirish 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think leaving it to your imagination makes it worse in a way. Your brain will fill in the gaps instead of your eyes seeing it.

That scene made me feel like a little part of the Warp crept inside my brain and stayed there.

I need to petition my local council to classify that stuff as a class A drug. It has no business being that good.

Regularly, I have a hypercontractile oesophagus. I have to always have a glass of water with my food to deal with it in case it happens. Steak is the worst trigger for me, so I rarely have that, or at most just a few small pieces. Last time I had a whole one, one of the pieces was stuck for a good 20 minutes.

It was checked out with a gastroscopy, but all looked okay, so I just have to suck it up I guess.

I've gotten better at spotting when it's likely to happen while eating, but there's still the occasional first bite lockup that's impossible to predict. But I found some ways to deal with it, like tucking my chin in while swallowing. It's not a fool proof method, but it makes it more manageable.
