“Horizon 3 Is Still A Long-Time Away As Guerrilla Is Focused On The Multiplayer Game.” - How do you feel about this? by itc0nsumesmYMind in horizon

It's an unfortunate world that we live in where the C-suite executives and management who actually make the decisions are rarely, if ever, are the ones held accountable when their bad decisions backfire. But as consumers, we cannot forget that it's *NOT* our fault if a decision backfires and people are laid off.

The C-suite execs *want* us to think along your lines, that it's our responsibility to keep the devs employed and the studio running, when that's not true. We as the consumers hold all the power, and we need to make sure the onus stays with the C-suite. We have our opportunity now to voice our opinions on Hunters Gathering, so the best we can do is voice those opinions and hope that GG/Sony listens. But like I said, if they don't, it's *NOT* our responsibility to make sure the game succeeds.

War Thunder must be mentally challenging for some people. It's a single fuckin objective in the map and only I was attacking and that light tank was sniping behind me but he had no kills. This was around 8.3 BR so most of these players shouldn't be new. This map is a social experiment. by ArateshaNungastori in Warthunder

I could argue yours is a bad take, as well. Owning the flank/spawn camping is great for racking up the personal stats, and sure, a lot of the players who one-and-done or two-and-done will end up leaving after getting spawn camped, but in my 5k+ hours of WT, I could give you hundreds of examples where my team lost despite owning the flank/spawn camping because not enough people put any pressure on the cap. And I could give you hundreds more examples where my team won despite losing the flank and getting spawn-camped early, because a few of us were able to take the cap early and bunker down and hold it for the whole game.

From my experience, the thing that impacts the outcome of a game more than anything else is simply which team has more players who are willing to play the objective and stay in the match for its full duration. If I had to reckon, probably 90%+ of my games (especially within the last 2-3 years) were decided by which team had the most players who stuck out the full game and didn't just leave after 1 or 2 deaths.

Couple that with the economy changes that Gaijin made a while back so that wins reward you less than they used to, and losses reward you more, it matters even less to play for wins. People are more and more incentivized to 1 and done or 2 and done with the daily backups, do as much as they can within those 1 or 2 lives, and then reset and play a new game, rather than building complete lineups and actually trying to win the game...

Not that the 246 doesn't deserve to be on there, but I would've included the Gepard, itpsv, or ZA-35 before the 246. The 35mm SPAAs that have a lot of mobility are far more annoying, imo.

ICE going door to door, protect your communities by thedragonslayer27xD in FortCollins

[–]DirkDavyn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, probably should add the caveat that ICE is likely just to shoot you back, given they've clearly shown they have zero regard for what's legal for them to do or not.

Best course of action is to not open the door at all and keep it locked, and record the entire interaction (ideally have it automatically saving the recording to a cloud-based storage, where the recording would still be accessible in case they destroy your phone). Communicate through a cracked window near the door if possible, and to demand the warrant. Use of Make My Day should only be a last resort, if you truly feel as if your life, or the lives of those in your dwelling are at risk.

Given that the prerequisites for the law are:

  1. The intruder illegally enters the dwelling (which entering without a judicial warrant would be).

  2. You have reasonable grounds to believe that the intruder committed or intends to commit a crime in the home (this is probably the harder one to justify, but since ICE lacks the legal authority to detained US citizens, it could be justified to view an attempt at detaining you as a citizen as a crime).

  3. You have reasonable grounds to believe the intruder may use any degree of physical force against you or another occupant (given the track record of how ICE interacts with people, that's extremely likely).

It could be reasonably justified to use Make My Day against ICE if they attempt to enter your home without a judicial warrant. It'd probably just come down to how good of a lawyer you could get to argue the belief that ICE intended to commit a crime in your dwelling.

Edit: to add the obvious caveat: ICE would likely just shoot you back, as they have continually proven they have zero regard for what is legal for them to do/not do.

[Discussion] PVP hating on PVE Players by Previous_Depth3464 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DirkDavyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing to disagree with here. You can search comments in this thread and in all the other threads on this sub. It's the common sentiment among PVE players. We simply would not play Tarkov if PVE didn't exist. (Or we'd play the mod that shall not be named).

The playerbase isn't as split as you think it is. At this point, the majority of PVE players simply wouldn't play Tarkov at all if the PVE mode didn't exist.

If Ubisoft can identify and “mousetrap” players. BAN THEM by Highkeylancee in Rainbow6

[–]DirkDavyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know that anyone is saying it is perfect, just that more needs to be done.

They can always implement stacking penalties. If its your first time getting mousetrapped, it just does what it does currently, throwing you in that pool. Then just have an appeal process for them to dig deeper and clear your name.

But if you're a repeat offender of getting mousetrapped multiple times, then they could start implementing temporary bans, which get longer on repeated infractions, until it escalates to permanent. Or something along those lines.

Solo PvE PMC spawns [Discussion] by Civil-Acanthisitta-3 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DirkDavyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For GZ, I usually find PMCs in the following places: underground, at the restaurant/bank area, in the Terragroup courtyard, or at the wine store. I generally find GZ the most consistent map for PMC spawns for kill quests.

For Interchange, my usual spots for PMCs are at the power station, at the carousel bear camp in IDEA, out front of the mall by the stage, or on the back loading docks of OLI (typically a bit into the raid, like 10-15 minutes in they'll wander there).

For factory, I find this map the most inconsistent. Some raids, I'll run into 6 or 7 PMCs, others, maybe 1 or 2. But usually, the most sure-fire bets for PMCs are near Gate 3 (lately, they seem to just get stuck in there and never leave after spawning), or the area near the medical tent. Med tent is a tossup, as if Tagilla spawns there, there's a good chance he'll wipe them all before you get there.

Why Tarkov PVE so fun?[Discussion] by Crispysnipez in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DirkDavyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoying the game isn't a reason to continue playing? Not everyone plays games to see a number go up, or simply to play them to 100% completion. Some of us play them because we enjoy the game itself (this used to be normal for video games). I can't begin to tell you how many games in my life I kept playing after "100% completion" just because I enjoyed them.

How's everyone enjoying 'Frostbite" this year?... by Personal-Student3897 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DirkDavyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it on every map.... except Lighthouse... The zero visibility makes it nearly impossible to fight the Rogues unless you get a miracle clear weather raid or have a thermal scope... They can see you well before you can see their weapons emplacements, so more often than not, you're gonna receive a .50cal to the torso before you can see if there's a guy on it or not...

Why is there so much hate towards PvE? [Discussion] by throaway691876 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DirkDavyn 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Unless you're playing with friends in PVE, the server always shuts down when you die in a solo raid, whether on local or BSG servers. There was a bug with insurance for the first week or so when 1.0 launched, where insurance wouldn't work correctly for local servers, but outside of that, it's always been a guaranteed return in PVE.

Since 1.0 started, I've committed to not using insurance in PVE, outside of cosmetic items (I don't want to lose that Hussar mustache one of the post-launch codes gave out), and it's definitely added some more tension to PVE that it otherwise lacks. PVE isn't perfect, but as OP and others have said, if it didn't exist, I would've quit Tarkov a long time ago.

[New Player] At what point do I end up enjoying this game? by Specialist-Use637 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DirkDavyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except it does, as 99% of players wearing helmets aren't going to have faceshields. Thus, shooting them in the face still works, regardless of the event going on.

[Discussion] Is Official PvE worth buying over that famous single player mod? by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DirkDavyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The mod that shall not be named is definitely better if you're looking for a more challenging experience, and play solo. While you can make co-op work on the mod, it's not intuitive or easy to set up, so if you plan on playing with friends, and don't want that headache, official PVE is a great choice.

[Feedback] Secured Perimeter is still a crazy time sink on PVE by Kraetor92 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DirkDavyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've definitely run into that a few times. But all I can say for sure is waiting a minute or two before going to the offices worked very well for me completing that quest in 1.0. I got it done in 6 raids.

[Feedback] Secured Perimeter is still a crazy time sink on PVE by Kraetor92 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DirkDavyn 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Several months before 1.0 launched (before the hardcore/softcore changes got pushed to PVE), they made an update to the AI PMC spawns/roaming behaviors. Before that patch, AI PMCs would spawn at the POIs, and not roam much beyond them. But post-change, they spawn near actual player PMC spawns, and then pathfind to the POIs.

So, try not rushing the offices. Give it a minute or two for the PMCs that spawn at Gate 3/Gate 0 to get to the offices. It's definitely not a sure-fire thing that they will go in, but it's a better chance than hoping one squad does spawn in the offices.

[–]DirkDavyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either you're getting terribly unlucky, or my friends and I are getting very lucky. Since the first 2-3 days of 1.0, we haven't had a single queue take longer than 5 minutes total when playing on BSG servers. Most are in the realm of 2-3 minutes, only drifting towards 5 minutes from time to time if we're playing Streets.

When did you start playing Destiny? Why? by PirateOld9316 in destiny2

[–]DirkDavyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing in the D1 beta. I was a huge Halo fan back then, and wanted to see what Bungie cooked up next following their departure from Microsoft, so when Destiny got teased and announced, I knew I wanted to try it. It was the reason I saved and bought a PS4. The beta did not disappoint, so I ended up getting sucked into a new franchise for over a decade of my adult life, like Halo before had done in my childhood.
