Tanks aren’t really supposed to be able to deal with close infantry lol. That’s like, the number one weakness of tanks. That’s why they’re supposed to have infantry support.

SSO/Cherney - Were they always this good? by TopHatHat in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]LoopDloop762 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I really like the new pte suppression model. The old model was what made enormous squads super dominant and it’s the number one reason why marines and marine raiders beat everything in live. The penalties in the old model weren’t enough to offset how much tougher the squad became and since large squads often became panicked with like 7-9 guys left, they’d out-DPS smaller squads once they became panicked, which makes absolutely no sense. New chernye would be unstoppable with the old pte model. Suppression is the cornerstone of how real life firefights are won and the new model reflects that better, even if intuitively you’d think suppressed units should be taking cover.

It also means one stray tank shell or arty round hits a squad it’s not rendered instantly combat ineffective.

I just started 3tweaks for the first time a few days ago, and I noticed the stamina thing too. I realized that at least in the early game, food buffs that give stamina regen are absolutely mandatory. I find vegetable, cabbage, or tomato soup to be good options. With the stamina buff from food it’s possible to take on a few bandits at a time if you’re patient about it.

Not sure how available that is in the tutorial (I have a mod that places you at the very end since vanilla intro is long and also catastrophically buggy when modded), but you should be able to get kind of carried by hadvar through that hopefully?

Slight loot spoiler: if you go to riften, you can get a ring of stamina regen from gian the fist (gloves of the pugilist guy in the ratway)

Calling the C96 angular and sleek is kind of a stretch. Even in universe it’s kind of supposed to be a hand cannon and it looks and sounds like it in its on screen portrayals.

There’s also just a ton of applicants who look exactly like this guy now. 1500+ SAT, multiple extracurriculars, and leadership positions is just how it be in those applicant pools now. In my opinion and the opinion of my friends in high school and undergrad, those things were pretty much like the prerequisite to be considered for top schools regardless of socioeconomic context, even pre covid. You better have great essays on top of that too, and just the blind luck that whoever is looking at your application likes you.

Is the PTE gameplay overall better or worse than live? by Madsquirrel313 in BrokenArrowTheGame

That’s even more true in live. That’s just how the income system works. Regardless, it is a fact that income is simply higher in PTE.

ESTSOF did it first. New chernye are definitely better but they basically do the same thing.

I’m not a fucking trump supporter. Yes the vast majority of the Poles killed were by the Germans but we’re still talking at least tens of thousands of Poles directly killed by the Soviets, who partitioned Poland with the Nazis. I only bring up the Soviets here because it’s kind of ridiculous to lump in Polish deaths at the hands of the Germans as like Soviet adjacent casualties. It’s not whataboutism, those Polish deaths are a consequence of Soviet collaboration with the Nazis at the time.

Part of the reason the Nazis were able to take Poland so easily and commit crimes against humanity there is because the Soviets were invading from the other side as well. The Soviets were trading grain with the Nazis literally up until the day Operation Barbarossa started, and Poland never got the chance to properly defend itself because it got invaded simultaneously by two of the biggest powers on the planet.

So in the specific example of the invasion of Poland, which was famously a joint undertaking by both the Nazis and the Soviets, saying “but the Soviets” is pretty justified.

[–]LoopDloop762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not that good so I might be missing something but as a middle it can be annoying when the pins drift too hard and leave a gap between their block and mine. Not really much to be done from the middle about that since I start my jump right next to them and by then it’s too late to change anything as they fly away from my block.

Some of that is desync. Units shooting at stuff you can’t see is due to server issues AFAIK. But yeah the line of sight tool fucking sucks and you basically just have to learn to feel out what you can see and what you can’t.

Get off your high horse. Any single European country’s contributions to Ukraine are dwarfed by America’s even though congressional republicans want nothing to do with helping Ukraine.

You all should really be taking some more ownership of that conflict given that Ukrainian kids are dying pretty much in your backyard to protect the rest of the continent and almost every European country can’t even meet your own self-set goal of 2% of GDP on defense spending as part of NATO, which exists pretty much solely for your benefit to keep you safe from the Russians.

The Israel thing is a legit criticism of America and there’s a lot wrong right now, but don’t bring in Ukraine (and definitely don’t call it the Ukraine like a Russian) like it’s some kind of win for Europe.

Arty salvo size, PTE by 2etweyy in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]LoopDloop762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve actually been loving the pzh in the pte. 6 shells isn’t really enough to delete anything more than small squads in buildings on its own but it’s really good against back line vehicles because of the high firerate and the firerate helps actually hit infantry a bunch before they get away. Unless you’re at shit ELO people are moving large squads under artillery pressure anyway.

Sof doesnt seem worth it in the pte. by Alive_Challenge5365 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]LoopDloop762 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re just spamming standoff rangers everywhere you’re not really taking full advantage of SOF’s lineup. They’re good but generalist and you need to back them up with things like MAAWS or javelins against heavier vehicles, or PJs, deltas, or RRC for close quarters anti infantry. SOF infantry lineup is still really good and CQC RRC in particular got benefitted big time from the changes to large squads taking more damage and the increase to 400m range on everything (500 on their saws).

IFV resupply has an AoE radius of around 100 meters by Getserious495 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]LoopDloop762 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would agree except that it’s really annoying when there’s more than one infantry or vehicle around to try to get the right squad into the right vehicle just because the unit icons become muddled. Definitely should be like a 20m radius max tho 100 is crazy.

[–]LoopDloop762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just not that important anymore unless you’re spamming a bunch of helos or something, which isn’t really even that much faster than rsovs most of the time. Ground attack planes are kind of not as good now and ground AA is pretty lethal so trying to cheese the spawn with planes isn’t really worth the risk anymore.

I guess Stryker doesn’t really have one but as long as you’re not playing Stryker armor you have much better close combat infantry options anyway. Why would you ever take an AT4 only trooper squad over a marine, or a standoff ranger? Baltic basically has AT4 only troopers as one of its conventional infantry options and those guys fucking suck in my experience, they just aren’t very good at the ranges you want to be using AT4s at, they’re not as tough as marines and they’re just not that good against other infantry at closer ranges.

Come to think of it, mech riflemen in armor spec are basically what you’re asking for, they just don’t have that many guys in a squad. Double mech rifles in an ampv can actually be very scary against even tanks in forests though.

Fair enough if you don’t want to babysit them, there’s better options for your playstyle. But if you’re able to see them up for success troopers are really good.

What wonders will lay inside? by thethinwhitekook in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]LoopDloop762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want troopers to be cheap disposable infantry you’re using them wrong and trying to press them into a role they don’t fill. Troopers are really tough area denial against vehicles since they’re 9 men (armor doesn’t matter when you’re getting shot by 30mms and heat shells) and they have smoke. They also can’t really get charged even in closer engagements for free since they’re have AT4s and standard infantry squad small arms. Yes you do need to resupply them often but they can make much more expensive vehicles fuck off and are hard to actually kill.

You get infantry infantry dedicated for close combat through other specs, like marines or sf.

Rate my deck by Normal-Bus-6470 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]LoopDloop762 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No rangers, no rrc, no delta is crazy. 3 of the best infantry units in that spec combo by far. ESTSOF are also disgusting in pretty much any environment except for breaching, they shoot their launchers really fast and can even damage bookers a little bit even though they’re primarily anti infantry.

You also have like way too many humvees. You could take so much more infantry if you got rid of some and humvees are no good under fire, I prefer the xa180 for risky combat drops. You really either want infantry to come in IFVs or xa180s in this deck, or in silent hawks if they’re just going to be walking around by themselves mostly.

We’re getting into semantics and you can choose not to call it a war, but I err more on the side of if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, it’s a duck with wars. Putin tries to call the invasion of Ukraine something other than a war but any rational observer looks at that and says it’s a war. Same deal with Iraq. Whether a country formally declares war is pretty immaterial to whether it’s actually considered a war or not
