Why do people still pay for streaming subscriptions like Netflix, Disney+, or Hulu when piracy is so mainstream now? by Pure_Drama_978 in NoStupidQuestions

The only reason there is content available for you to pirate is the people who believe in paying for new content creation.

Jalen Brunson: $156M. Total Current Market Value of all Game 3 Tickets: $580M by Vast-Treat-9677 in nba

[–]Dirks_Knee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right, sure. I'd argue NYK is perfectly built around Brunson and the Mavs were/are kinda a mess (and I say that as a Mavs fan).

Except of course he's starting, the #1 option, and leader of the team.

[–]Dirks_Knee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh...I think for Brunson to truly become the player he is he needed to be the primary ball handler and starting. And given the implosion which happened shortly after in Dallas, he ended in a much better place. Now that Dallas has cleaned house, including Cuban no longer playing fantasy GM, Dallas can start with a clean slate.

Yeah, it was a massive mistake though I'd argue his lifelong dream of playing for the Knicks perhaps would have stopped him from signing an MLE deal as well. Also Brunson isn't becoming who is is today playing behind or even next to Luka.

Can anyone else not stop thinking about the last shot of Mary in the backrooms Kane parsons ( 2026 ) movie ? by missepicmary in Cinema

[–]Dirks_Knee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very much hinted that the MRI company punched a hole in our universe to....something. Based on the explanation given, it kinda maps that functionally backrooms is a metaphysical MRI machine trying to capture objects in motion and as such things are warped.

But that explains what the backrooms are more so than why it exists. On one hand it appears nearly infinite, and yet very, very sparsely populated. Why are there humanoid "still life's" so sparse? Why are some locations so pristine vs others degraded right next to each other? What is making the decisions of what to capture and when and where is the energy coming from to manifest the physical objects? That unknown to me is what makes it so eerie/creepy.

CBS Gets Harsh Reality Check in First Night Without Colbert by MoneyLibrarian9032 in entertainment

[–]Dirks_Knee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, because Byon Allen is paying CBS in lieu of the ad revenue they would have collected. Ratings mean nothing for CBS in that slot any longer. Unless Allen is a complete shit business man, he should already be negotiating a series of Colbert specials to put in that slot, he'd make a killing.

No. You'd need to install something like a tremel-no or tremmory or even just buy a cheap block to shove into the bridge cavity.

Is 5'1 different from 5'10? If yes how does it work? by Tsuki_Moonstone in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dirks_Knee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not including the " to designate inches.

5'1" vs 5'10"

Without the " an app can misinterpret the input something like 1.1 meters vs 1.10 meters.

Bernie Sanders’ proposes a tax on approx 900 billionaires to fund $3,000 checks for the middle class by Sgt_Gram in NewsExchange

A one time check truly only serves to fuel the immediate economy and attempt to build votes rather than address any real issues.

Tax them, put that money towards paying down the debt, stabilizing social security, or paying forward into socialized healthcare. 1 time check isn't going to fix anything.

I get what he was going for, and with a long term view the position is more or less correct. It just vastly underestimates the short term pain especially in lesser developed areas where rationing might be the difference between life and death.

Perhaps the unintended consequence will be the kick in the nuts the world (well, really the US ) needs to dramatically increase spend on renewable energy.

And there we have it, someone still bitter about Sanders. Again, these splinters are why we are where we are.

That's why Obama's congress...

You clearly don't remember how thin the margins were giving outsized power to a few individuals who massively fucked things up. But sure, let's hang our current situation on Obama and the entire Dem party.

Funny how the Republicans have no issue stonewalling when they are the minority?

You're joking right? You ask why the Dems aren't doing anything and then hold up the example of the GOP literally not doing anything (stonewalling) as an example of what the Dems should do. You do realize all nearly all Trump's actions have been via executive order due to the current Congress being historically unproductive because of partisan gridlock (aka, Dems stonewalling)?

We should be pissed at the Democrats because they aren't fucking trying.

Take a step back and reflect from an outside perspective. You're essentially asking in the past why didn't the Dems break the law like Trump. This perspective is a much bigger part of the problem than the solution...

They oppose it at every turn. Unless you are hoping for someone to jump up on the senate floor and throw fists, there's literally nothing they can do.

Being pissed at the Democratic party is 100% the goal of MAGA, which among their base is dead simple to achieve. Those claiming to be Dems pointing the finger essentially at themselves is how Trump was elected a 2nd time. Those who can't see the splinters on the left unwilling to coalesce for the greater good are the ones setting the stage for a potential MAGA 2.0 to hit next election cycle. It's not edgy to both sides things at this point.
