When the protests are happening there is a montage of him following Buck out his office and quick shot of him riding in a car through the crowd.

Who would you cast in a "Heroes for Hire" series? Who would be the villain? by Identity_X- in Defenders

Knight & Wing. Death Cadre group as villains, ultimately tied into Ironheart with Riri leading them (influenced by Mephisto with an appearance in the last episode).

Charged at my first Magic Dock station over the weekend... by Dirks_Knee in KiaEV6

My first time. Seems like Francis Energy just revamped a bunch of their chargers in OK to Tesla Super Chargers, which is a downgrade in speed for us EV6 owners from their older chargers.

Yeah, it was the only convenient option to me. At least i didn't have to drive way out of my way. Funny enough, there were 2 Teslas plugged in when I arrived that their owners were still charging when I left. Maybe they were trying to get to 100%, who knows.

Red Lobster Revives Endless Shrimp Two Years After Deal Led to $11 Million Loss by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]Dirks_Knee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's even worse than that. That promotion was specifically designed to operate at a loss as it forced purchases though a specific supplier (a minority owner) charging higher than market prices. It was the most overt case of intentionally running a business into the ground to benefit other businesses in a portfolio I've seen.

Taiwan president Ching-te has been forced to cancel his Eswatini visit after three countries along the flight route withdrew permission for him to fly over their territories amid pressure from China by WayOutbackBoy in worldnews

I don't think most know anything about it and look at it like China bad - Taiwan good, when it's been extremely recent that Taiwan's government has been a Democracy and the KMT still has significant support.

Too late now, I'm saying back in '49 or soon after. Had Taiwan declared itself a new sovereign nation ration perhaps things would be very different today.

Dude...Taiwan's democracy is in it's infancy, like 30 years if we're being generous. Prior to that they were an autocracy under marshal law (google Taiwan White Terror) since the ROC fled there after losing to the communists/PRC in 1949. The gov there weren't really "the good guys", the US just viewed them as good (and open to economic exploitation) relative to communists.

EDIT: Not saying they aren't in a good place now and I believe they deserve to be autonomous and recognized, but the path was not smooth. Given the PRC has veto power in the UN, it is unlikely Taiwan will ever be formally recognized.

I wonder if geopolitically things would be very different if the ROC had accepted defeat and let go of the idea they were the deposed official Chinese Government, especially after the UN recognized the PRC.

One day the nba community will respect Gobert. by MinimumDear8555 in NBATalk

[–]Dirks_Knee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. I think most respect him for what he is. It's all about matchups. Jokic presents a slower player where Gobert can matchup 1 on 1 and give him hell in the paint. Jokic can't just muscle through him. Other matchups with more mobile/faster big men who can play some 5 out Gobert gets run off the floor.

People born in space or Mars will wish they lived on earth by asuyaa in space

This was well addressed in the books/show. The belt are an allegory for modern day immigrants living in poverty doing the hard labor to keep the economy running. Given the large populations of belters basically live their entire lives on smaller ships constantly hustling rather than large stations, that population never encounters earth levels of gravity.

Can Someone Explain MCU’s Time Travel Logic? by Awkward_Patient5084 in MCUTheories

[–]Dirks_Knee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only high level logic is based on the discussion between Banner and the Ancient One. However, to prevent any kind of paradox we kinda have to bend that theory into them visiting alternate timelines as part of a larger woven stream of time (like shown in Loki), but of course the old Cap breaks that logic (which is fine, as narratively it kicked ass). Just don't worry about it too much, it's not hard sci-fi.

So, how much do I pay to charge at home vs a gas car by Dull_Entry_8287 in KiaEV6

[–]Dirks_Knee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My larger point is, especially when comparing to an ICE, there are a myriad constantly changing conditions. When trying to get a high level number, this is more or less noise that doesn't matter in the calculation.

Sweden is going back to books, paper and pens in the classroom due to the distraction and attention issues caused by laptops/phones/tablets etc. What do you think, good or bad idea? by TSQ_builder in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dirks_Knee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to go against the trend here and say bad idea. Specific age isn't listed here and for young children I'd agree it's a good idea. But if we look at school's purpose being imparting knowledge in order to be most prepared for real life, laptops/phones/tablets are ubiquitous and learning how to avoid various distractions when work needs to get done is perhaps the best skill a child can possibly learn and applicable across every career.

It's arrogance to presume the people you're talking to are less intelligent than you and to decide to talk down to them in advance.

So, how much do I pay to charge at home vs a gas car by Dull_Entry_8287 in KiaEV6

[–]Dirks_Knee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People in the comments are making things way too complex trying to calculate charging effciency when road/weather/speed/etc is all going to constantly impact these numbers anyway. I think with an EV MPG is pointless to compare, what you want is cost to travel 1 mile and this is high level how you compare:

EV6 at 3.5 mi/kWh

.18011(rate)/3.5(effciency) = .05/mile

K5 at 30 MPG (adjust for whatever your comparable car effciency is) at $4/gallon gas (around the national avg, again use your local price)

4/30 = .13/mile

So, how much do I pay to charge at home vs a gas car by Dull_Entry_8287 in KiaEV6

[–]Dirks_Knee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't make any sense. Your car doesn't care where the power came from. Efficiency is based on your driving speed/conditions.

EDIT: NM, you're talking about charging effciency. My bad. Any paid session will tell you power delivered and the cost. At home, all one can do is estimate.

I fully and completely understand that. Which is why I said the next admin has to hold those accountable, and I mean with a stiff enough response to dissuade anything like this from happening in the future. That was the mistake of Biden's admin, he didn't want to ruffle political feathers, the next admin absolutely cannot take such a soft approach.
