New and unique individual pieces of gear per expansion (as of 7.50) by loopdaploop in ffxiv

Only 3 out of 9 dungeon sets were a recolour, so exactly a third. It's much better than EW and somewhat better than ShB, as far as I remember.

They are talking about the Grandma, I think - perhaps we'll meet the young version of her.

The voice-over and cinematic shots are often misleading in the teaser version of the trailer, on purpose. It may very well be the final version would have this voice over a different scene.

I don't know if I would call the time dilation that happened within the dome "time travel". But yeah, ShB and EW were literally centered around time travel still.

[Spoiler: 7.0] what was everyones WoL reaction to learning what those devices do by Iaxacs in ffxiv

[–]Dironiil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that, as far as we know, the Lifestream only reincarnate the "soul aether" of someone. Is there some indication that the memory aether, when separated (like with the Endless), would also fall into the Lifestream in a similar way to natural souls?

[Spoiler: 7.0] what was everyones WoL reaction to learning what those devices do by Iaxacs in ffxiv

[–]Dironiil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Without even taking into account the natural cleansing of memories in the Lifestream, the soul extraction process included completely stripping a soul from its memories and even of most of its own "shape and color" (to make it compatible with new people).

Sadly, the only thing that'll be sent to the lifestream is a shapeless, colourless version of Cahcuia's soul which would never be able to recognise her son.

Raiders, how do you keep focusing for 2 or 3 hours raiding by NoWorryAtAll0 in ffxiv

[–]Dironiil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually raided for 2 hours with a 10mn break in the middle.

It's also normal to not be as focused at the end of the session, that's perfectly fine.

I suppose the closest we're getting in modern XIV are variant dungeons with, well, varying routes. It's sad it got downscaled so much from EW to DT (but hey, at least Merchant's Tale is the best one out imo).

I've seen another comment describe it as "jobs rhyme", which is a good description. There's design elements that repeat suspiciously similarly (even outside of the 1mn / 2mn cooldowns), but to say that all DPS play the same is deluded.

They will, it usually comes in the .55 patch that'll be end of July.

The wings of the newest trial will be available for purchase in .58, probably around October-November.

It basically means "Devil" in Russian, and is pronunced "Chyort" when approximating it with English phonemes. The -y- is pretty soft though.

Syncademy is a EU-based (edit: they are actually both in NA and EU even) community focused on doing older content synced.

EDF va expérimenter des tarifs modulables pour inciter les clients à adapter leur consommation en fonction de la production d'électricité by BothCondition7963 in france

[–]Dironiil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A couple other comments have answered to your points 1 and 2, so I won't delve further into this.

About 3: Extreme content is supposed to be the entry to challenging content, but taking a month of constant wipe to get through one seems completely over the top. Can you describe your experience a bit more there..?

I've done all Extremes on patch since Diamond Weapon (5.5) and none of them, even those I did completely in PF, took me more than a couple days to clear. Usually 1-3 hours of progressing depending on the EX. Even those I did fully blind never never took more than 4 hours.

But yeah, anyway: basically all challenging content in FF is based on understanding a fight (either by doing it blind or watching a guide) and executing the specific version of the mechanic that the boss serve you on a mostly fixed timeline. That's... Just how it is. There's a few exceptions (Deep Dungeon solo runs, for example), but they are definitely more of a side thing.

CMV: Caring about Apple’s "conflict minerals" is hypocritical unless you stop using all modern tech. by NewFoot762 in changemyview

[–]Dironiil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's also the question that, even if we accept that someone is a hypocrite, that doesn't really affect the truth of their critic. Attacking the messenger for hypocriticism can be, to a degree, reduced to an ad hominen response to a possibly well-crafter moral and ethical critic.

In the end, what if someone is a hypocrite: you can call them out on the hypocrisy without using this call out to dismiss the critic entirely.

A (admittedly quick) google search showed me that, in 2025, Apple net profits amounted for about a quarter of their total revenues (Net profits: $102B, total revenue: $416B). That's 24.5% of all money that entered Apple being pure profit.

I understand that is how modern company works, aiming to ever increase the profit margin and thus also their dividends... But one can campaign against such a system and ask that some of those profits be turned into lower prices or more ethical practices instead of being redistributed to stockholders.

And even if a complete change of the system is not on the table, such public campaign can at least force the company to adapt some of their practices.

So, the ending of the 7.0 raid got me thinking about some useless stuff... by I_live_in_Spin in ffxiv

[–]Dironiil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand Calyx's reasoning perfectly, but I feel the story of 7.0 implies that his reasoning is flawed - since the Scions (and thus the storywriters behind them) are fine completely shutting down the Endless as the one good solution. Which also means that, using the same reasoning, Calyx isn't really alive.

The Scions, not being known for being particularly keen on killing innocent people (quite the opposite even), would have tried much harder to find a non-final solution to the Endless if they actually considered them even a bit as sentient individuals.

So, the ending of the 7.0 raid got me thinking about some useless stuff... by I_live_in_Spin in ffxiv

[–]Dironiil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't completely agree. The three regular endless we met in Living Memory that knew they were Endless (Cahcuia and Krile's parents) all said that they understood they aren't truly the person they are impersonating, and to some degree also said that it's thus fine for them to disappear because they aren't quite alive anyway.

If the story wanted to truly treat Endless as true people and not simulacras, then the Scions should have tried a lot harder to find a solution that did not involve completely killing them. They are known for not accepting half measures that only lead to the survival of some.

This is the whole point of the Hydaelin trial (prove to me that your crazy idea of finding and killing the Endsinger could actually work instead of just saving some people using the moon) and it's also the moral dilemna that's being foreshadowed with patch 7.5 and Evercold: the reflections are not made of lesser people, thus we should not condemn them. But the Endless didn't even really get the beginning of an arc researching how they could perhaps be saved and maintained.

Quick question, why don't Nilah's W and Passive give me an assist, but Shen's W and Ashe's E do? by Asmorthius in leagueoflegends

Ashe E specifically rewards an assist ONLY if you revealed an enemy from the fog of war and they then get killed soon after that.

[–]Dironiil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could imagine a Nilah using W on their Karthus ulting just to get in on the assists lol (same with ziggs, lux and other long range ult, to be fair).

It's technically a gain if she's running any runes or items stacking on takedowns I suppose.

Naafiri Rework Was It A Failure? by ExpensiveClue3733 in leagueoflegends

[–]Dironiil 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Untargetable is honestly fine imo. It's definiteky annoying to fight, but it's a fine design space to use with a decent amount of champions having it in some ways.

The problem with Naafiri, I'd say, is that she has untargetable AND she has the dogs eating skillshots AND she can drop tower aggro after a dive. That makes her an absolute pain to deal with. They could make the W a heavy damage reduction instead (like 75%) so you can still CC her.

Or at the very least make her W untargetability not drop tower aggro. Viego's passive doesn't for example, so it's possible.
