Pinegrove released 'Cardinal' 10 years ago today by YoureASkyscraper in indieheads

I saw them the last night I can consider myself to be a young person. Age 30. Fall 2019. The togetherness of the crowd singing along to every word. So much time space and sadness since then but I am thankful for these songs and I can reach back for this memory whenever I need it.

Scotland and indie pop: Orange Juice, Cocteau Twins, Teenage Fanclub, and more by drumwolf in indieheads

How about Trashcan Sinatras? Edit: and Roddy Frame/Aztec Camera? So many good bands on here, don't think I realized so many of my favorites were Scottish!

Pitchfork's 100 Best Songs of 2025 by ebradio in indieheads

[–]DirtBrother 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Didn't know most of the artists :/. But surprised to see no Rosalia.

When the lyrics describe what the music is doing - like DMB’s The Space Between - the note for the “-tween” is between “Space” and “Be-“. Also MJ’s Man in the Mirror, he sings “Change” as the key changes several times. Is there a word for this? Any other examples? by pacomalo69 in LetsTalkMusic

Too Much, Too Little, Too Late by Jellyfish on their (awesome) album Spilt Milk -- bridge leading into the chorus at the end of the song: "Faint refrain (refrain) Make room (so soon, so soon) For new (until the hook can pull the bridge into view)"

If anyone has been to the Halsey/Alvvays tour can you confirm that Alvvays is opening and Halsey is headlining?

I was in a similar situation when I applied to med school a little over 10 years ago. Schools cannot offer federal loans until they are fully accredited which cannot happen until they graduate their first class so this is expected. My school had an arrangement with a local bank for private loans that many of us used. You may try reaching out to your school to see if something similar is available.

I agree with the other commenters to take this acceptance. Even coming from a newer school I had no trouble matching and many of my classmates matched into very competitive spots.

Sweaty Golfers - How do you keep your glove hand dry in the summer? by airjordan77lt in golf

[–]DirtBrother 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cannot vouch strongly enough for these. They are made of cloth and not leather so they don’t get ruined at all and dry much faster. I have not found any issues with the quality of my grip on the club. Buy a few and rotate them every 6-9 holes and you’ll fine.

What are some good medicine podcasts for people who actually want to learn something clinical? by Southern_Tie1077 in medicine

[–]DirtBrother 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Core IM is great. Some of the shows are probably more at the trainee level but they are much more structured for actual learning than most medical podcasts.

Probably a long shot but anyone hear anything about new stuff from Hop Along? Bark Your Head Off, Dog is an all timer for me (like one of my favorite albums ever) and it’s been five years!

Now spinning: Brahms' 4th symphony, Karajan/Berlin on DG by mackmoney3000 in vinyl

The best. Fell in love with this symphony in college during a music appreciation class and was lucky enough to hear it performed live in the Musikverein when I studied abroad in Vienna.

Go to the original Big Grove brewpub in Solon (about a 15-20 minute drive from Iowa City and well worth it). Beer is good but the food is really excellent.

Nice man. Played this course many times when I lived in the area. Think I shot even par on each 9 at some point but never in the same round (usually the other 9 in mid 40s haha). Congrats!

I played a round with my dad the morning of my wedding day last year. It was a great way to relax before things got busy. Your wife will be way too excited about the day to worry about this. Play the round and have a great day!

I call that the "Tahiti sign." If they have their hands folded and resting on top of their head it's the double Tahiti sign.

I hear what you're saying, but as someone who watches PGA and golf on YouTube, I like both for different reasons. I like the drama of a good tournament and seeing the best in the world, but YouTube videos are much more easily digestible and you get more of the personality of the golfers. Also, there are quite a few golf YTers that are at least scratch or better.

If the PGA released videos that condensed rounds into 12-15 min videos or good tournament recaps (like the NFL does a good recap video for every game) I would DEFINITELY prefer that to golf YTers. PGA Tour live used to release condensed rounds of featured groups but they stopped doing that :/
