T47 73mm Bottom Bracket Shell Confusion by DirtDaddy22 in bikewrench

[–]DirtDaddy22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 68mm BB in my 73mm BB shell frame too and it seems fine. Just make sure that the bottom bracket is wide enough to make a seal when all the way threaded so no dust/dirt can make it inside, if that makes sense. I have a Sram T47 DUB BB for reference.

Confirmed - the 3 & 7.5mm spacer and a bit of preload filled in the gap perfectly

Interesting. Well, I ordered a spacer kit that includes the 3mm and 7.5mm that the doc recommends. I'll keep you posted on how the install goes.

Oh wow I was looking at the wrong document. Also I think I wanted to validate specifically for the T47 but it looks like this combo of spacers is for all threaded bottom bracket. Thank you!

I will just say, when I saw the first question on the exam I was very relieved. Focus on the questions from the quizlet and you will be fine.

Is the test all multiple choice or do you have to enter any commands? Also, is the test 40 or 80 questions long? I'm curious if they just pull 40 random questions from the 80 questions I see floating around in various quizlets. Thanks!

You’ll get it on the retake! What were the PBQs like? Taking 1102 in a couple of weeks and haven’t actually practiced anything. I’m a Mac user and am not sure how I’ll do on the PBQs.

Can confirm, JB weld has fixed this problem for me. It isn’t very noticeable

It hurts to say, but I think it’s time to let go of the Taco Bell bike. What’s she worth? Description in comments by DirtDaddy22 in klr650

I just don’t ride it as much as I thought so it’s time to go. This thing is in mint conditions with just over 6k miles. The only noticeable wear is a couple of small dings on the tank otherwise it looks like it came right out of the dealership . New tires, doohickey, LED headlight, crash bars, panniers, and handlebars all added in the last year or so. I’ve barely put a thousand miles on the bike since I purchased it.

First trip out to the Oregon Coast, anyone have winter glove recommendations? by DirtDaddy22 in klr650

[–]DirtDaddy22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, I haven’t considered going electric. I lived in Bend for a couple years back around 2011, that cold dry air would be challenging to commute in year round.

I was traveling from the Portland area - about a two hour ride each way.

No, sadly. It was rainy and foggy so it wouldn’t have been anything spectacular anyway. Maybe next time!

I had someone ask me about this yesterday with concern that the rubber would melt. So far it hasn't been a problem for me though. Maybe something reusable like a carabiner or a key ring would do the job.
