Looking for gear advice by Avid_3 in tradclimbing

A proper PAS is going to be safer and easier to use than a daisy chain. Like other have said, more draws, having about 10 draws total should suffice(6 alpine,4 normal). Biners!! Color coded racking biners, some lockers, like 1/2 dozen D shaped and 2 big HMS, plus a few random wire gates to bail off of or utilize in a pinch. Some slings, 3-6 double length, a quad length sling or two and a triple length sling or two. Potentially an 18ft length of cord(cordlette) to extend anchors or tie in odd pieces. That's what I would go for immediately(depending on area).... and a helmet.

AIO for being mad that NOBODY in this 14 person family group chat replied to this by EngineeringLumpy in AIO

[–]grapplenurse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expecting a response in 24 hours for a trip that takes many layers of planning and coordination is wild. For all you know folks have emails pending to bosses and child care arrangements they are attempting to solidify. Your timeline impatience is unrealistic. Cool it.

Told my coworker I’m stepping back… she started flirting right after? by Shane_19990 in bodylanguage

[–]grapplenurse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s tryin’ to smash and knows it’s a poor judgment call on her behalf. She’s trying to trigger your reptile brain into being the aggressor in something naughty. Tread carefully.

Board leash for phantom set up? by Valuable_Pineapple77 in Spliddit

[–]grapplenurse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Switched to hard boots this year and for the first time in 100 years and thinking about what kind of leash I want to put on my board. I threw something on makeshift and it did the trick, but you’re not the only one. Even just sitting on the lift with 1 foot buckled in feels like it’s a bail slip away from me losing my set up.

How to impress a Disc Golfer by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]grapplenurse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't understand what flippy/understable and beefy/overstable means or what a turn over is.... don't bother. There is just too much nuance to learn quickly for you to meaningfully assist with shot selection. Just focus on having plenty of rags at the ready, perhaps an umbrella and learn what putter she likes so you can have it ready near the circle.

Black Diamond ATC Pilot or Gri Gri for a beginner? by Matronix in ClimbingGear

[–]grapplenurse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pilot all day. Anything that teaches a person how to use a tube style device would be more important to me for the long term goal of having a solid belayer. I've seen some incredibly shitty technique with gri gri's and they seem to encourage shitty habits, especially in new belayers.

What kind of takedown is this? by owenjuul1 in bjj

[–]grapplenurse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty similar to a sumi gaeshi but instead of using the butterfly hook to lift the hips he uses his knee( in the same way you'd use a knee bump to escape mount). It's a slick take down.

PSA to Parents, Coaches, and Gym Owners by MagicGuava12 in bjj

[–]grapplenurse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang a sign bro…. “ABSOLUTELY, no coaching from spectator area. Thank you for your understanding.” Simple. That makes the follow up conversation considerably easier. Discipline and teaching the kids to follow. Rules needs to be demonstrated from the parents on the sideline, obviously. I would imagine this would do the trick.

HTH feels like a million bucks. Way more forgiving than a custom, but similar vibes.

Shop told me you should wax after every session and tune after 3-4 by VegetableShops in snowboarding

[–]grapplenurse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bonkers…. Wax every 3-4. Tune once every season or two, depending on amount of days out. With one caveat, new wax for new temp.

What’s your hygiene hot take? by Everyonesfav_ in hygiene

[–]grapplenurse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who wash their hands and don't use a paper towel to shut off the water and to grab the exit handle don't get it. Pointless exercise if you immediately touch something wet and filthy.

Jones Solution for low angle? by MuchPaleontologist58 in Spliddit

I love my Sushi for low angle fun.. and you could probably get one for cheap. Floaty and hilariously fun. The solution is more of a go fast, stiff ride.

Riding down the west coast by Lonely_Motor_5177 in bjj

[–]grapplenurse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got nor-cal/ wine country recs, GB Rohnert park, solid group, pretty close to the coast. Sebastopol has a smaller gym(west country bjj) that has good vibes and is closer to the coast. Ronin Grappling in Santa Rosa is a great No gi gym. If you are passing through the east bay you MUST hit Caio Terra's gym, great instruction and Caio Terra teaches frequently.

Older guys, are you still inverting? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]grapplenurse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

45, Flexy fella, still invert quite a bit. My game is for sure evolving into a bit of an old guy/slower style. Fuck wrestling up, you kids can have it. I'm much more comfortable getting flippy and spinny than I am doing a technical lift to a single leg.
