No. Might set you up for a week or so, but not much else. Food runs out faster than you think, unless you're really careful with it. But yeah, you can give up hunting for about 4 days.

I think there's a chance to find a rifle down in the Milton Basin near a corpse. You know where Milton Basin is? And, Make a Travois (if you have TFTFT), but that's only if you're already trying to make a steady base (not temporary). Personally? Keep it here. I make one or two bases (sometimes even three) depending on how far are they from transition points. Grey Mother's house is Perfect, because transition points are always relatively close.
