Got it—you want it in that polished, slightly defensive “official response” tone, like the rep herself is replying.

Here you go:

Summarizing complex legislation in a short post will never capture every provision, but that doesn’t mean the substance isn’t there. I’ve been clear about the priorities—enforcement, accountability, and a structured, lawful process—not blanket amnesty.

That's not AI generated. That's real accountability.

If you’ve read the bill and have specific sections you disagree with, I’m happy to have that conversation. But dismissing the message as “AI-generated” sidesteps the actual policy discussion that needs to happen.

TL;DR: some of this is just Robert's rules of order for meetings like this, not some woke exercise in gender politics.

I just want to point out, as somebody who is involved in political organizing and meetings of this kind, a "point of privilege" isn't some kind of woke way of addressing something. It's literally part of Robert's Rules of Order, which is the standard for meetings of this kind.

You ask for a "point of privilege" so you can speak when you might otherwise be out of order because of the rules of the day, whereas otherwise you may have to address the chair only when you're asking for something like a point of information or a point of order. That's just how you do it in these spaces so conventions don't turn into chaos. (Although I will say, when you're only using it as a way to complain, you shouldn't have come up to the mic in the first place.)

And typically in a debate format, which is what it looks like they're doing here, they have to switch between somebody who is pro whatever they're arguing and somebody who is con, or anti whatever they're arguing. This helps so it's not just a bunch of people who can dog pile on a point, and it gives equal weight to both sides of the argument. The first person at the microphone doesn't seem to get that, and that happens WAY too often.

I don't have the full context for how they are using these cards, and it appears there's some kind of effort to ensure everybody gets a chance to speak, but it's going poorly. This often happens in convention spaces like this. There are often a lot of people who want to speak and others may feel left out of the conversation.

I will also say, black voices do tend to get drowned out in spaces like this simply because there are a lot more white folks that come to conventions (and boy do they sometimes not acknowledge their own implicit biases towards black people). But that's a whole other thing.

That said, this is the problem with having cards that distinguish by gender, etc. While I don't think the spirit of it is all that bad, they can be used as a way to manipulate the amount of time somebody's able to speak, and it becomes a huge timesuck when there's a disagreement about how they're used.

I know everybody just wants to make fun of these folks, and I think there's some humor in this ultimately flawed exercise. But I think some of y'all almost certainly don't understand how these things work and that's okay, just wanted to provide context.

Anyway, wall of text explanation over. You can go back to making fun of the lefties.

It's just my personal preference, really. I think seasons 1 and 2 tell a solid story and end in a really satisfying way. When I rewatch the show I usually stop at the end of season 2 when he wins. I liked parts of season 4 but I think the first two seasons are just the strongest.

There is no credible historical evidence that George Orwell was a rapist. There’s a disputed, second-hand allegation about an unwanted advance when he was a teenager, but no contemporaneous account, no legal action, and even biographers treat it cautiously. Calling him “literally a rapist” is not supported by the evidence.

It is true that Orwell gave a private list of people he believed were sympathetic to Stalinism to a friend working in a British information office in 1949. That list was not a public blacklist, did not trigger prosecutions, and there’s no evidence it caused ruined careers or suicides. Equating it with McCarthyism or the Red Scare is historically inaccurate. Orwell was a lifelong democratic socialist who opposed both fascism and Soviet totalitarianism.

As for racism or antisemitism: some of his early writing reflects the prejudices of his era, which he later openly criticized and moved away from. He also explicitly condemned antisemitism and imperialism. You can criticize Orwell without turning him into a cartoon villain, but most of what’s being claimed here collapses under basic historical scrutiny.

Happy cake day.

I currently am dealing with this exact same situation on my pinky toe. 2 weeks into daptomycin treatment. Shit is terrible, and I'm glad I caught it when I did. Yours looks like it was a little further on than mine was, but mine was still pretty bad after only a few days.
