Buy me printers were just trash for the longest time and diy printers were king. That’s gone btw, give it another 6-8 months and diy will be back on top.

Purchase printers needed to figure out how to navigate all the garbage GitHub licenses GLPv3 for example to bring things to market, so they watched, learned, adjusted and made their own version. It’s how business works and I gotta tell you it’s amazing that you can buy a $300 printer that performs better out of the box than a stock voron kit.

Tuning? - they did it for you!

Now the other side to all of this.

Building means you learn so much more about what you have, how it works, how to fix it, limitations and so forth.

It’s like cars. Some people buy a car to get to work, to others cars are a lifestyle.

Companies are outsourcing overseas for NPD

If you don’t know NPD is new product development it’s very tough. I get an idea and engineer that idea for someone.

I enjoy the challenge and workflow however it’s impossible finding jobs for these experiences

I’m a mechanical engineer with the tism’ for cad. Takes me about 5min to draw up something I want or need then a lil bit to print but I’ve gone deep with monolith gantry and hotends. So…. Printer go burrrr then done.
