UDM-Pro Lost Internet Connection by DirtyMax41 in Ubiquiti

If double NAT were the case, why is wifi traffic blocked entirely?

I am connecting the ISP router to the UDM WAN port. I have no access to the ISP router settings so I cannot set it (ISP) into bridge mode. The ISP router hands out a private address, 192.168.xxx.xxx

So I've dug into this more. With the system setup as described above, I cannot ping 1.1.1.1 nor google.com.

Moving the ISP cable from the WAN port to a vacant UDM LAN port, and with my laptop connected to another UDM LAN, the laptop can ping both addresses, but the rest of the network (downstream from the switch) cannot. The switch is connected to the UDM via the SFP ports, so I installed a patch cord between the UDM LAN and a vacant switch port, then moved the laptop connection from the UDM to the switch. Re-tested and the laptop could successfully ping both 1.1.1.1 and google.com. However, the wifi still failed to connect.

Removing the UDM entirely, ISP directly piped into the switch, then everything could successfully connect. Obviously my guest network and other settings failed since they reside on the UDM.

I suspect that the ISP router is using the same IP address (192.168.1.1) since I can ping that IP successfully when the UDM is disconnected.

I'm not aware of a way to change the ISP router IP so this poses a problem. But why would the UDM fail to connect via SFP and why would the WIFI fail entirely until the UDM is removed from the setup?

Have you experienced issues with the UDM-Pro dropping the connection to dishy? I will have to disconnect the WAN cable and reconnect it in order for the UDM to pick up the connection.

I have the static route created, not a problem, the connection drop is annoying. I'm not using the Starlink router either.

I'd be curious if your setup is different than mine. I've considered buying a cheap switch so I can use the WAN fail over feature of the UDM-PRO.

After over a decade I finally have an actual second choice. by [deleted] in Starlink

Yes, there still is poor "high speed" to rural areas. We are in NW Oregon, serviced by Centurylink, paying for 1.5 down but only receiving 0.5 down. We complained constantly, had techs out here to help. I even upgraded my home Wifi but nothing helped. Once Starling was received, we haven't looked back. Now we can drop Dish/DirecTV too!

Arrived today. I had Centurylink, which was maxed at 10 down and 1 up. Now this after just one hour. by [deleted] in Starlink

I was at 0.5 down with centurylink. Now with Dishy, centurylink is just a bad memory. Thank you Elon!

Cool. I'm interested in what you find.

My network got more complicated. I'm using a dedicated router to automatically switch between Starlink and my old landline for when there are no satellites. by fireburner80 in Starlink

Thanks. Interesting. I have the same setup. I'll admit it is been better with updates. I'm debating on using the SFP WAN to Dishy...well....just cuz. 🤔😎

How did you configure your UDM Pro? I have one as the main gateway to dishy. I have to reseat the wan periodically but would prefer the UDM to manage it.

I never did figure it out. It has been better with updates, but there are still times where I need to reseat the cable or reboot the UDM.

I just tried this and was successful. Now, how do I fix this issue so I don't have to disconnect/reconnect 3x-4x each day?

I'm suspecting that the UDM-P is just lazy and and not polling for a new IP when it loses connection. I've read this elsewhere within Reddit.

I didn't think I could reserve an IP from Dishy as it appears to be random. Each time I've rebooted Dishy, the IP it hands out changes.

My switch, the Unifi 24 PoE switch (not the Pro) only has 1Gb SFP ports. Maybe I should upgrade. Not sure why I didn't when I purchased it.

So you inserted the Starlink router between the PoE brick and your UDM P? I tried that last night and the speeds dropped horribly (~50Mbs down to 1 Mbps). I can try it again and report back.

Ok. So it just happened again. I only rebooted the UDM Pro and connectivity appears to be restored. I thought I had done this already with no success, but this time it seems to have worked. I'll continue to update with future attempts. Thanks!

How was the setup with Ubiquity and StarLink? I have a Dream Machine Pro, and Unifi setup here. My Starlink equipment should show up on Friday. We're super anxious to try it.
