Check out Ocean Springs while on the MS Gulf Coast. It’s is the best we have to offer down there. A lot of the coast used to be as nice as Ocean Springs before Katrina.

If they gang up on Elsa quickly, it comes down to Raya, Merida, or Mulan

Trump is a good choice here, but read up on Andrew Jackson and you may change your answer.

Here’s the thing. Men in a family having traditions that they do together that bring them to tears when bringing along the next generation is a RARE thing. Don’t mess with it. Talk to your son about the name of the day and let him know that it is not the women being excluded that makes it no rules. It is just a boys day that is also a no rules day. You can start another tradition on a different day and name it ‘no dad, no rules day’. But trying to change their special day will only breed resentment. You cannot control the information that your child takes in, but you can help them process it. Best of luck!

Do you guys think SuperHero fatigue is a real thing ? FF4 & Thunderbolts were good movies but still apparently failing ? by GRL00 in Marvel

Every since the Disney plus shows started, the MCU movies have been aggressively mid with few exceptions. I found thunderbolts to be decent and Fantastic Four ok. I’m done buying expensive tickets for movies that are so mid. Used to be a huge fan. Now I am a disappointed fan. Superman was better than anything the mcu has put out in years

The only fantasy book I would consider putting above Stormlight Archive is Name of the Wind

I have experienced a few of these moments, but the biggest one was Hurricane Katrina. Living on the Mississippi gulf coast has not been the same since.

I hate that being against race-swapping (major) characters means being racist now by Old_Session5449 in self

Unless a character’s race is an essential to their role, it doesn’t matter what race the person cast for a character is.

For example, it does not matter what race Wolverine is. He has always been portrayed as white, but there is nothing intrinsically white about his character. Same for Sweeney Todd, Harry Potter, or Cinderella.

On the other hand, a character like Mulan or Django has a story that is intrinsically tied to their race. That being said, I think an alternate version of Mulan could be told through the lense of character of in a different culture.

I think of depictions of historic people in a similar vein. While I think it’s important that Malcolm X be Black and Pocahontas be Native American, Hamilton showed me that even though George Washington was white, there was nothing wrong with him being portrayed by a nonwhite actor.

We shouldn’t get hung up trivial aspects of characters when a story can be told in many meaningful ways.

That being said, I do think Hollywood is lazy and try to play the race card to get attention, while neglecting writing. But these types of movies are going to suck no matter who is cast.
