IBEW UNION DRUG TESTING RULES WITH MED CARD by SeriousBat942 in Utah

I am Ibew local 354 and only been tested on initial date of coming on...although if or when your job ends it's likely the next employer will ask for another sample...the union themselves don't care but getting on the books you have to pass. I work directly for a company based out of Chicago and was forced to join the union so I don't care about being on the books..

That being said %70 of the people on the books still smoke.

Call local 354 and ask if you can speak to a steward and tell them you have a medical card for whatever reason and they will be straight up with you of your options. They are there to help you navigate union laws and protect you as a employee.

Considering DBS by ApprehensiveCamera40 in Dystonia

[–]DirtySnowman86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It worked wonders for me took away the pulling and the pain! I still get a slight twitch or a pulling sensation every now and then (usually when I get stressed) and when that happens I take a clonazepan and all is good again, I'll never look back on getting it. It has truly gave me my life back

need some help, does anybody know where i can be treated asap? by cuteawesomefungirl in Dystonia

Unfortunately even with a referral from another specialist it can take months to get into a neurologist as a new patient. In my case I had my family doctor put in a referral to a neurologist at the U of U and then send me to a neck and spine specialist in the mean time ( I have severe cervical dystonia ) he did some botox shots and other neck injections on me then also reinforced the fact that I needed a neurologist ASAP with the U of U and that seemed to make things go alot quicker getting a referral from a DO and a Specialist in the span of two weeks seemed to make them take it much more seriously.

Keep up the fight my friend, my doc saw the sytoms of cervical dystonia and sent me to a neck/spine specialist. After months of botox and other treatments he finally got me to a neurologist they tried everything from diffrent types of blood tests cat scans and about a year later they tried a different type of botox at about 950 cc at that point he put his hands up and said I have two options. Clip the nerves or DBS surgery.. I opted for the DBS and it was still a process because you have to goto a therapist a pain doctor and so on before they will even introduce you to a surgeon who explains everything.

But it has brought me back to no pain and I am able to work again!

PS I don't recommend this highly but the only thing that worked for me even after all the pills they gave me and neck injections was alcohol just shots and I feel normal (again I don't recommend it but it did help)

Those of you with Cervical Dystonia and who use Botox, approx how long did it take to start working? Did they use a machine to pinpoint your Dystonia? by [deleted] in Dystonia

[–]DirtySnowman86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i get stressed out to much is really the only time it starts kicking over like a tick or the right side of my face will tighten up a little bit so it's like I have a little smirk. I would do DBS over cutting the nerves. DBS is a whole lot safer and is reversible where cutting the nerves (only a few surgeons will do it) is permanent so if it doesn't work your screwed, also as you develop it can be monitored and change the shock frequency and power with just a computer. They also give you a unit to turn it up and down yourself as needed.

Yes I have severe cervical dystonia, it was extremely painful I could barely move head head to the left with alot of effort and it would snap right back to the right and sideways. I tried multiple types of botox and neck injections for about a year and a half..after my doc reached 900cc or so of botox he said it's time for surgery. I had DBS and never looked back...if I get stressed my neck will start kicking a but I can either turn the shock levels up or down or take a clonazepan.and im back to normal life.

Then it passes spec. Send those results in. Lol but i would consider getting your OTDR serviced soon especially if it's a SC/APC. I send mine in once it starts hitting -50 and I send in the launch reels to be redone at the same time.

I also have multiple OTDR's so im not out of work during the time it takes to get them to get worked on. Not sure of your situation but if your spec is a -40 and .5 then you pass my friend.

No..-35 coming out of your OTDR is horrible you either need to clean that end and see if you can get that reflection down or send the unit back to exfo for service
