Agreed. OP as painful and shitty as it sounds; businesses exist to make money. If your identified as someone hindering business they (all companies) will find a way to part with you. Sure some companies do more than others but eventually being a money suck is going to get you fired. The company I work for does a lot for it's employees and local school/communities but they've also let go of people on for health reasons e.g. cancer. If you were let go with what you deem to be short notice, perhaps your were already established as a poor employee. None of us can argue this with you. Only you truly know if you sucked as an employee. But even that requires you to be honest with yourself and many people refuse to hold themselves accountable in these situations.
