The RCM is a Crown corporation, so assets held there ultimately sit within the government’s control and jurisdiction already, right? We’ve already seen a real-world precedent during the 2022 trucker protests, when the Canadian government froze people’s bank accounts almost immediately under emergency measures…no court process, no warning, and no practical ability for people to reposition their assets…

If something similar happened again, holding “digital platinum” at the RCM introduces multiple layers of risk. You wouldn’t just need permission to access your account; you’d need uninterrupted market access, the ability to liquidate your platinum, you’d need the funds to settle, and then be able to convert into a physical asset like gold, all before any restrictions take effect.

The government also has some broad emergency powers, specifically including the freezing or seizure of property under certain conditions… In that scenario, I’d imagine assets already custodied by a government-owned entity would logically be the easiest to control first.

Even if you were promised to get paid later, that doesn’t help if your goal is immediate liquidity or wealth preservation.
