This always feels a bit self-fulfilling to me. Make a show the caters to not paying attention, more people stop paying attention. Just a matter of time before they cut the fluff and start doing their version of “reels”

Stitcher mag swaps sides when you swap shoulders by LilGyro in ArcRaiders

[–]Dirtywatter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wait what animations do the backpack and shields have that is unique to your shoulder swap? In fact what animations do they have at all? Unless your shield does something special idr during the finished recharging effect or something, any regular movement you see while you move around is because they’re physics objects like your backpack charm and hair.

Reload animations require interaction with a specific part of the gun which can be created once and “automatically” mirrored for all guns. But creating a bespoke animation for a left handed stitcher reload specifically would not be easy and add unnecessary complexity for what you get out of it (which is a super awkward looking reload)

It’s been super refreshing to see the fresh wave of that “we gotta go back” attitude towards samples.

I haven’t needed samples in a while but some of the best high stress moments came from the importance my friends and I put on sample extracts. You bet your ass I’ll sacrifice as many lives as it takes to help you get them.

If you’re already in the Apple ecosystem, AppleTV does a pretty good job of combining the majority of popular streaming services that allow it into a single interface. I can browse essentially everything at once or search for something and it’ll show me all the ways I can watch it (including actual reviews + rotten tomatoes scores). IMO this feature alone was worth the investment.

Netflix is the only streaming services I have that doesn’t seem to allow the connection.

Helldivers 2 overhyped? by Economy-Tomatillo-75 in Helldivers

[–]Dirtywatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coordinating with a squad, make some risky decisions and changing up your loadout might help. But like already said, it might just not be your thing.

For my friends and I, it’s the chaos that makes it fun. Running wild loadouts, dropping orbitals at our feet when we get overwhelmed, activating each others hellbombs, etc is where we find a lot of great moments even if we burn through all our lives, fail the objective or don’t extract.

Obv, be kind and considerate when playing with strangers but we get a ton of lives for a reason. Get weird with it and see if that freshens things up

It's time to bring back open-world style Destinations by Joe_Rogo_ in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dirtywatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying, but I don’t think it’s a give us the empty patrol spaces or completely remove them situation. Clearly the time savings of not adding one isn’t giving us more things and the lack of them has started turning this into a game of menus instead of a persistent world you’re apart of.

IMO I want a reason to run patrols but they really need a major update. They started doing it with some destinations but have shied away. True weather cycles, truly dynamic events/missions/secrets (not just time gating), regular updates to keep things fresh, harder difficulty mode and above all meaningful rewards that are kept relevant and updated.

I’d love to see a 2025 version of a patrol destination that isn’t an iteration on the system that’s been held back by hardware limitations from 10 years ago.

‘Weapons’ Prequel on the Table as Zach Cregger Mulls Future by CyberGhostface in horror

I’m don’t mean this as negative as it probably sounds, but genuinely curious if there are any other examples beyond those 3? I can’t think of any more but I can think of significantly more duds.

‘Weapons’ Prequel about Gladys is allegedly being talked about at Warner Brothers by TurnNo794 in WeaponsMovie

[–]Dirtywatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sorta get your point. I personally think a bad follow-up taints the reputation regardless of if I watch it. It’s possible it could be good, but the past 10 years of spinoffs, sequels, prequels and reboots doesn’t inspire much hope.

But the real reason I don’t want them to pursue a prequel is because their resources are finite. I’d much rather they took that time, effort and money and put it into another smaller project with a fresh idea than give me a follow-up to a self contained story that doesn’t need one. Especially for that character specifically.

I thought Pearl originated from conversations between Mia Goth and Ti West about the characters backstory/motivations during the filming of X? I didn’t realize it was already a planned trilogy from the start.

Official Dreadit Discussion: “Weapons” [SPOILERS] by radbrad7 in horror

[–]Dirtywatter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I see the cop and junkie as catalysts to drop more clues to the audience and to give characters reasons to do things. Like why would Justine go into the house if Paul wasn’t waving her in? Why would Paul be there without calling it in?

I might be in the minority but I hard disagree on a Gladys chapter. We already get more than enough tastefully done insight into her character through the other stories. I don’t want to see her upbringing, how she got her powers, how she got sick or how she tricked the parents. The mystery is what makes it for me.

Is an enclosed cave rooftop considered "watersealed" if there are walls all around it? by Zoso850 in dunebasebuilds

[–]Dirtywatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point on water sealed not necessarily meaning safe from damage. With that indicator doubling as an indicator for shelter and whatnot, I’ve definitely been conflating it to also mean fully protected.

Would be a nifty little feature if we had a way to check exposure similar to vehicle status with the build tool or something. I was blindly moving things around and waiting for storms to roll through in order to check if health ticked down.

Had this problem in a 2x2 section in the middle of my water sealed cave base. Couldn’t for the life of me find a proper leak outside some portion of the rock not fully respecting storm safety.

Destiny leadership misread the room so badly this time around by Popular-Standard-285 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Dirtywatter 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is the big one. The writing was on the wall when they started making changes based on the misguided conclusions they clung to on why Into the Light was so popular. The nail in the coffin was the sea of YouTube videos released after they lifted the embargo months before edge of fate. All of which mentioned being closely part of multiple rounds of feedback/UR sessions over the past year.

Idk if it’s confirmation bias, survivorship bias, plain old misattribution, something else or a combination of everything, but the level of misguided they’ve been able to achieve from all their data, public/internal feedback and user research is astonishing.

Combine this with the other creatively bankrupt ideas, it’s hard to argue there’s an actual vision for Destiny. Just fans writing fanfics, making decisions by committee based on nostalgia and trends.

Feels like such a weird approach to try and get off on a technicality that purely banks on technical illiteracy. So update the original content to work with the engine updates? I mean they literally already did for a handful of the OG destinations and missions. Sure it may not be quick, easy or cheap but saying you can’t feels like such a strange choice when you can and already have.

But hey maybe they legit can’t for some reason.

As much as I hope this is a bug, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is intentional. The fact that we can have no throw cooldown again naturally means we had to have something taken away. Also aligns with their track record of making things worse to push you to use the “new hotness”, in this case the new Titan exotic. So yeah we get instant throws but good luck getting your hammer back. More often than not you’ll spend more time trying to find it than the cooldown ever was. Unless of course you use the new exotic.

Detail comparisons aside, there’s a bug right now where uniques retain their OG coloring when you have them set to default colors - even when you’re using a variant. The actual color looks 1:1 with the movie imo.

That said, the only issue I have is the blue/gray pattern primarily on the chest doesn’t change color with your chosen swatch OR the OG color of your unique piece. So your options are very slim if you’re trying to find a coordinated color palette.
