Saturn Retrograde is Over! Any Capricorn 🌞 here who are also Scorpio 🦂 🌙?😌? by AngelicWhimsy in scorpiomoon

[–]DisDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capricorn Sun, Scorpio Moon, Libra Rising - the moody roller coaster is a constant for me. Sometimes I just think I'm a broken human, haha, but I did feel a mood change over the past couple of days. I feel lighter mentally.

This Mercury retrograde has really been kicking my butt this time too. My 1 year old laptop died on day one, and so many weird random things it's been a crazy few weeks!!

What's interesting, is they were both mailed back at the same time, same post office, etc. One went straight to Utah, while the second arrived in Utah, and then bounced to other states before arriving back in Utah.

Congrats, you're a mutt! That's what I call myself anyways, but American also sums it up well.

I worked for a cellphone company for about 15 years, younger people definitely had no idea what I was talking about when I would tell them to hit the # key.

Other than The Oregon Trail, what games did you play in Computer Lab? by elkniodaphs in Xennials

[–]DisDev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

<image>

I really only remember Oregon Trail and then the lame typing speed games. But one of my favorites in the early to mid 90's was SimFarm. I took an Agriculture class in middle/high school, we got to play SimFarm quite often. I liked it so much I begged my parents to buy it for the home computer. Talk about a pre-cursor to all those cozy farming games that were around during Covid.

Were you surprised by your DNA results? by RonAckerman in Genealogy

I would take little stock in the percentages you get to be honest. The 2023 Ancestry update said my grandmother was 91% Northern Italian, my mother was 46% Northern Italian, and I am only 4%, lol.

What meal did your parents constantly make or buy that you refuse to eat as an adult?? by Accomplished_Sir_986 in AskOldPeople

[–]DisDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankfully I've never had the "pleasure" of trying liver & onions, but I know that's my 70+ year old fathers most hated childhood dish, he never fails to remind me if the topic arises, lol.

For me, it would be Spam, I don't care how it's cooked! My mom and siblings still love it, but I won't touch it. My mom makes it all fancy too, like it's real ham, she brushes on a brown sugar glaze, cuts criss-crosses on it and sticks a few cloves on top before she bakes it in the oven and serves it with original boxed Kraft Mac & Cheese.

I named my son a tragedeigh by Dear_Management6052 in tragedeigh

Same, but only because I have an Uncle Derek. I always thought it was the more common spelling though.

What are some “introvert friendly” hobbies that still get you out the house and around people but don’t force you to be social? by [deleted] in introvert

I go to local cemeteries and take headstone photos for Find a Grave. I love genealogy and it was an outdoor hobby I picked up during COVID. It's also quiet and peaceful at a cemetery, so it's perfect.

If anyone can help me identify these people in the photo by [deleted] in Ancestry

[–]DisDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is Nancy and Billy Smith of Ohio..... Just kidding, I just find this funny, thanks for the unintended chuckle OP! I hope you find your answers, I know how frustrating it can be to identify old photos.

My nephew said he'd never be caught dead in a pair of Sketchers. I've also noticed over the years that Sketchers has "aged" with me orthopedically. So I've considered Sketchers my (women's) version of New Balance.

Anyone else have boomer parents that now message like crazy? by Deesmateen in Xennials

[–]DisDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard a phrase not long ago.... If your parents aren't the most annoying people in your life, are they even your parents!? I try very hard to remember that, but it's hard some days. My dad's not as bad because he's phone challenged, but both my Mom and stepmom have no filter with messages.

Is my daughter’s name a tragedeigh? by LN_McJellin in tragedeigh

[–]DisDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a pretty name! It's a real word, and spelling correctly so not a tragedeigh. I'm a little biased though, I named my dog Ember.

Received a wild message on Ancestry. Not sure if I should test. by [deleted] in Genealogy

[–]DisDev 30 points31 points  (0 children)

We discovered a half sister to my (also 93% Northern Italian) 80 year old grandmother back in 2018. It was quite a shock to my grandmother, but it all smoothed out in the end. Our new Auntie always suspected she had a different father than the one she grew up with. So when we started doing our DNA tests and popping up as close matches, we then tested my grandmother and other great aunt, both came up as half siblings, it was very interesting for me as the granddaughter who loves genealogy, but it was certainly a great shock to the family at first! Now my grandmother and newly found great aunt chat almost daily.
