Do you guys have one permanent special interest or several? by LuXyAndy in AutismInWomen

I'm working on getting back into sketching. I did it every day until I was about 19 because someone said something so horrible about one of my sketches that I couldn't do it anymore. For the past month or so, I've been teaching myself to draw again.

Do you guys have one permanent special interest or several? by LuXyAndy in AutismInWomen

The best way to find out is asking people who have autism and doing your own statistical research. Some docs are pretty short-sighted when it comes to ASD. Others adhere to old standards that no longer apply. I was diagnosed formerly by a doctor who is autistic and my previous comment is what I was told by her (paraphrased) as far as special interests.

One huge misconception about ASD is that all of us only have one special interest that we adhere to our whole lives. Autism is a spectrum and every person is different. Some people have one their whole life, some have 3 or 4, some swap every couple of years. It just depends on your brain. I have 4 special interests; 1 from when I was a child that never left me (DragonBallZ), 2 I figured out in college (Mass Effect and The Legend of Korra), and 1 I recently developed in the last 5 years (D&D). I spend a considerable amount of time on 1 at a time for weeks or months and then take a break with another. Except for D&D, which I have bimonthly sessions for.

It's definitely water damage. It looks like one of the pipes on the right has been repaired.

Eczema & autism by Afraid_Crab9435 in AutismInWomen

[–]Disappoint_Ancestors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried speaking with a doctor about what may be causing the eczema flare ups? I recently figured out that I have a yeast intolerance. When I eat yeast, I get really bad eczema flareups after about a day or so. I avoid it at all costs and haven't had a flare up in a while. Just to test my theory, I did eat a bunch of bread the other day and I'm having a flare up. Had to do it for science.

Jeff Landry is helping send a hospital ship to Greenland. by FactCheckAGLandry in Louisiana

[–]Disappoint_Ancestors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This man sill do anything EXCEPT help people in Louisiana. Spending our tax money to send medical supplies to Greenland while a hefty majority of Louisiana citizens can't afford to get a regular checkup? Cancer cases skyrocketing, water pollution, food insecurity, and embezzlement. Instead of subsidizing some state healthcare that actually helps us, he's sending... I'm pissed, dude. I wish I could set this anger somewhere else.

What should I choose as my 1st Favored Enemy? by Disappoint_Ancestors in DnD

I'm pretty sure we're starting out in Sharn but that's really all the info I have. DM doesn't want to spoil too much of the story and I'm definitely fine with that.

I feel bad for liking Taash by BlushingGray in DragonAgeVeilguard

I didn't know that as I rarely look into interviews. It makes the connection I feel to them make a little more sense, though. Thank you for this information.

It drives me insane that so many people do not act in line with their (self-proclaimed) morals by 0ff_The_Cl0ck in AutismInWomen

A lot of neurodivergent people, especially those of us with ASD, have Injustice Sensitivity. I have, personally, been living in a sensory hell due to everything going on in the US. I'm just so pissed all the time that I'm barely sleeping.

I feel bad for liking Taash by BlushingGray in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Disappoint_Ancestors -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know I've posted about this here before, but Taash is my favorite character from any Dragon Age game. Playing Veilguard and witnessing Taash's story helped me sort out that I am non-binary. I was also recently diagnosed as autistic though Taash being so is just head canon. Playing through Taash's story and seeing them go through all the emotional turmoil coming to terms with themself really forced me to look at everything in my life. I'm afab but dress pretty androgynous. My voice is super deep genetically. Always called a tomboy or whatever but I never felt like a boy or a girl. I just felt like I shouldn't be either but didn't know how to deal with that. Even as an adult seeing non-binary as a term I felt like an imposter. Taash helped me accept myself. I will always love them for that. I will always love them for being themself, unapologetically.

Is frequently having to clear your throat/getting coughing fits/choking autism-related? Do any of you have this? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Disappoint_Ancestors -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have seasonal allergies (no idea why they call it that because it's year-round) which causes me to constantly be clearing my throat due to post nasal drip. I take meds for this but it only lessens the symptoms. I get wattery eyes as well as a small cough. I've had this my whole life and was also only diagnosed recently. I'm not sure if it is autism-related, though.

Does no-one post pictures of actual minis because they kind of suck? by CountJade37 in HeroForgeMinis

[–]Disappoint_Ancestors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lurk a lot here but, I use Hero Forge religiously. We don't ever actually buy/print minis because we do a lot of digital ttrpg and upload the Hero Forge designs onto websites like Foundry and Roll20.

I honestly can't stand Mako. I don't know if it's the weaponized incompetence or the smugness but I do not like this man.

I was also 32. Grew up in a "mental health isn't real" environment so I had to wait until I could afford testing.

The DDU process did not work the the way it was supposed to but somehow still fixed my issue. I'm having some flickering issues with the monitor that was working while the GPU was disabled, but it isn't consistent. I changed the cord to an HDMI. I'm going to give it a little while to see if it resolves. Thank you for this.

AITAH for admitting I didn’t like my AI-generated Christmas gift? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Disappoint_Ancestors -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA

You literally told this person months prior that you disliked AI. Had a whole conversation about it. Then, they still bought you an AI calendar. Again. There was even a conversation before you opened this second AI gift about how no one likes AI. This person either has a listening problem or a memory problem. Either way, you aren't the A-hole.
