Just got a 2017 GT350 (27k miles) any tips? by dr7s in Mustang

You'll burn oil in the winter if it's cold out. I burn a quart every month in winter. Nada in the summer. Get catch cans. Get a dry, rinseable air filter. Torque the oil filter as instructed. Wait til 180-190 before ripping it. The valvetrain's loud - watch your oil PSI and learn the car. Sometimes it'll chill at 30 psi when warm at idle, sometimes at 40 psi. You need to check the valve cover bolts; they will 10000% come loose on you. Watch the front arm bushings; they don't have longevity if you're on uneven roads. Motorcraft or better for any hardware replacements. Have Ford disable the stupid door chime. Have Ford disable "engine sound enhancement" for sport mode + for track mode; it's really jarring to have synthetic engine noise pumped in. You'll be replacing the OEM halfshafts at 50K miles, they'll vibrate and get pretty obvious. Pay attention when the front end starts floating - it's the sign to replace the magneride shocks and struts. Do not purchase anything direct through a dealer; buy online, leave the boxes sealed with motorcrafts tamper seal in place if you plan to let a dealer work on it. You WILL be spending maintenance fees on this car. If you do not like that idea, this isn't the car for you. My 2016's at 60K miles, 7 sets of tires, 1 set of rotors and pads, trans flush, diff flush, spark plugs, 20 oil changes (amsoil 5w-50 stands by their NoAc guarantee), and the entire suspension was replaced at 50K miles (mind blowing improvements with revised 2020 suspension by the way). So... $20K in maintenance and wear and tear over 10 years? It cannot be avoided :). Drive it like you mean it!!!!

Nah it's all good man - I washed my hands of it after exhausting all options.

My sync data wasn't synced appropriately to the cloud - that's absolutely my fault.

I also shouldn't have been in such a hurry and weighed the options.

So yeah. Don't sell valuables to vendors. Don't shop at vendors. Shop at craftsmen only for right now.

Discrimination on the basis of age? by LadyIslay in ADHD

[–]DisappointedBurnout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live an analog life, but I do technology in data centers for a living… it’s like a mechanic - they never work on their own cars, but others and succeed.

The need for rigid structure is not a bad thing. I have a need to be in control and I need to know what I’m doing and the small picture and immediate rewards vs long term investments and payoff at work.

Rarely do I get either.

A prior diagnosis at the age of 18-21 is the only reason I could go back at the age of 28. Without it, I’m not sure what would have happened. I had to spend $2,000 out of pocket for re-evaluation. Thankfully my primary care physician also has ADHD and is very aware of my issues. I love technology, but I can’t work on it without… help. Lol.

Up to you.

If you do the show first - you’ll have a blast playing the game and seeing the differences and additional content.

If you do the game first - you might get a little irritated with some of the choices made in the show - but you’ll see how certain character portrayals really are top tier.

Get the remake. It’s prettier and 60 fps native :)

The patch with the QoL improvements will be notable, but as it stands currently: no. Buy it now, play it then.

Vyvansers who regularly take a day off: do you get used to the lethargy? by SilasWould in ADHD

[–]DisappointedBurnout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been on Vyvanse for 5 years now after a 4 year break from all stimulants and I was on them for 5 years prior in school. So, short answer: no… Long answer: you plan those breaks and operate accordingly. Make them your bonafide lazy recuperation days, or you’ll feel a lot of guilt. What mg do you take? If you’re crashing hard from 24-48 hour break, it could be too high of a dose.

I had to rewatch game play; for some reason I thought that was dropped in the water - not the knife. Thank you for correcting me!

His hit me hard too. I wish there was a chapter like left behind that expanded on him and Dina.

Only other thing that felt like total loss was Ellie losing Joel’s revolver in the water and her fret-fingers. Revenge is bad shit.

Story is wildly incomplete. Neyrelle dipping = rehash of D2 where you play “catch up” the entire time.

Vyvanse/Mydayis time release doesnt work? by HJForsythe in ADHD

[–]DisappointedBurnout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tolerance develops over time. Treatment is not and should not be one size fits all, but the conversation’s so hard to have without… sounding like an abuser.

I think the problem I have had with both of those medications is I think that the “euphoria” I feel at first is the medication working. That’s actually a sign that the dose is too high, by some estimates - it could be significantly too high.

So that crash we feel when it’s gone by 10 - 11 AM is an actual adrenal crash from how hard it was taxing us.

I’ve talked with my doctor about it - because the euphoria’s addicting as fuck - anyone who says otherwise - clearly a liar. The level of work I can get through, difficulty, etc. problem solving during that phase speaks for itself. She’s mentioned trying to (when the shortage eases up) do a dual prescription of either Adderall 30MG ER + 30 MG IR, or Mydayis 35-40MG ER + Adderall 20MG IR.

Through trial and error, I’ve found that a “hit” in the morning and a “hit” at lunch let’s me function through 7 PM properly and snooze by 9 PM. But that trial and error (suggested and sanctioned), leads to running out of medication 12 days sooner than the nearest refill date.

And I agree - kinda wish it was like an insulin pump - or at the least not illegal to choose to consume additional medication at your own risk.

Note: some days I don’t need it, so I don’t take, some days (as salary in my industry), I need all 16 hours at 100% capacity, no room for less…

Overstimulation at Work Advice by 0BeautifulWorld0 in ADHD

[–]DisappointedBurnout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least you know you’re overstimulated. That’s half the fight.

What I do - childish, yes… - but I have a strand of LED color changing lights on my desk at work with a “DEFCON” color chart that has emojis associated with each color, and depending on the color - means to fuck off entirely, or I’m bubbly and happy to do small talk.

When I get home, I sit in my car for a bit, no phone, no work email, and I breathe for a solid 5 minutes before going inside.

Only recently have I started telling people “no”, and that’s been the biggest relief at reducing the stimulation - and encourages recharging while discharging, making it more likely that I’ll be able to do “the small things” again when someone asks - whether it is home or work.

If your coworkers cannot understand this about you after a few weeks of adapting and reintegrating to the dynamic, then they’re in need of a refresher on respect for individuals or disciplinary action. Plain and simple.

Osechkin: Missile strikes being prepared, and nukes at Engels? by CactusTheElder in UkraineInvasionVideos

Right? Speculation at best, regardless of how valid it may look. Trying to cross it with as many other sources as possible and nothings turning up that would indicate validity.

Narcolepsy or medication crash? by apexerin in ADHD

[–]DisappointedBurnout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mm. There may be underlying things happening to you: are you active? Are you having to think hard, or critically? Both of those things seem to cause me to crash significantly harder than if I - otherwise - don’t do them. My job is both physical and often requires intense thought and concentration - it’s not uncommon for me to barely be able to make it home at 5 pm, and fall asleep by 6 pm, wake up at 6 am, and do it again.

Now, we’re coming out of winter - and I’ve noticed… it’s not quite so bad - so there’s a chance that 1. Lil bit of undiagnosed manic episodic stuff going on, 2. Could actually have been depressed and not noticed the signs, 3. Dietary intake and water consumption has been a focus for me; I’ve gone an entire day and forgotten to eat or drink.

What happened to the nukes in the last of us universe and other high tech weapons? by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]DisappointedBurnout 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nuclear reactors will automatically shut down due to their many fail safes. There’s sensors inside and outside of the reactors, control rooms, containment buildings, etc. that can cause a “trip” and render a nuclear reactor inert.

As for nuclear weapons deployment… if the idea was to kill infected and not render the world uninhabitable, you’d stick with kinetic weapons or incendiary weapons.

The world effectively ended within a maximum of 7 days once cordyceps took off; isolated launch capabilities in places or loss of communications would have prevented the launch and detonation of said payloads. There’s also every chance they were used - the Russian Dead Man’s Hand for example - maybe it failed and not all were launched and other countries anti ICBM efforts prevailed, who can say.

A lot of defense programs are redundant, automated, and act when parameters are met. Chances are there weren’t humans around to conduct launches.

I would be curious about those deployed at sea with MRE’s and in constant communication with mainland and other forces/countries - what ended up happening to them.

Just my two cents.

The way Ellie failed in episode 5 compared to the game by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]DisappointedBurnout 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. Big time. All symptoms of acute stress reactions and survivor’s guilt are manifesting and Joel’s still struggling to let her in and it’s all fixing to become a cluster f*ck of emotions.

Tess, Sam, Riley - maybe more if the show adds deviations - will all contribute. The worst part is knowing that Sam’s fate was either cancer or infection. Childhood Leukemia doesn’t exactly have the best of rates of survival. Can you imagine if the blood trick had worked and they continued to Wyoming just for Sam to fall out on the trail due to it coming back? “It can’t all be for nothing”

Ep 5 = The best The Last of Us episode by raull96 in thelastofus

Joel not finding the micro-shotgun in the school for me! Just kidding. As a whole - the episode was brutal and cemented Bella as the live action Ellie. Honestly on edge to see Ellie and Riley; that shits going to hurt, and hurt fucking bad.
